FFN_f_512805941 - Alyssa Milano on Being Fat-Shamed by Jay Mohr: ‘It hurt me, I was affected by it’

After Alyssa Milano was publicly fat-shamed by Jay Mohr last week, the actor wrote an apology on his blog, saying:

“I know full well how much words can hurt people, having seen my wife (Nikki Cox) get destroyed by the tabloids, and I am embarrassed that I didn’t think before I spoke. Alyssa is an extraordinarily beautiful person–both inside and out. Sometimes comedians go too far.”

The actress accepted his apology on Twitter by saying:

@jaymohr37 Thank you. Apology accepted. (She grunts while aggressively yet cautiously prying off her head-to-toe Spanx).

But it seems that Alyssa was quite affected by the mean words and she continued speaking to Extra about the incident:

“Well, he made a comment that was not so nice about my weight and I called him out on Twitter about it… I just think he was trying to make a joke and not think about it, but I heard it actually on Christmas Day and it hurt me, I was affected by it and I wanted to remind him that I’m a human being and that this hurts. I gained 55 pounds when I was pregnant, I still have 10 more to lose. [My son] is 2 in four months.”

The worst thing about this whole incident is that she isn’t even remotely fat, overweight or chubby. Really, she isn’t. That’s not an opinion, but a fact.

And even if she was, who is he (or anybody) to make that kind of hurtful comment??

  • solaxia

Poor thing! So sorry to hear that she heard about it and it hurt her feelings! The thing I don’t get is…she isn’t even in the slightest bit fat! At all. I would love to look like her, I think she is slim, toned and sexy. Looks perfect to me! She could easily gain a bit or lose a bit and still be hot as. There is not just one ‘perfect’ weight for everyone. I truly believe there is a range. She is gorgeous! I actually think she got prettier as she matured.

Why is it sad that she’s enjoying being a mum, still trying to have a career?

    • solaxia

Oh ooops! I re-read my comment, I didn’t mean it like that. I sometimes go on rants and my wording comes out wrong. I meant that its sad that he said something so nasty…when she is just enjoying her life, doing as she wants…being a mum and career women (I think its admirable what any mum decides to do)…but just that she is living her life and it would be busy and she is doing well…and then some nasty b*stard has to come along and knock her down for something so stupid like her weight! It’s sad that she was hurt by it, when she is doing so much positive stuff in her life and he minimised that with his remark.

firstly there is nothing wrong with her weight and secondly, people should leave her alone because she is just trying to get on with her life. As if there isn’t enough pressures on women and especially mums these days, and its sad he had to comment on her weight and bring her down.

Haha, I love her answer talking about the spanx!
I think she’s beautiful and shouldn’t let that man bring her down.

What is sad is that tons of people must be telling her she’s beautiful, but one bad comment makes her really sad. It’s the same way for most people I guess… You know what I mean? How mean comments have a much more negative impact than nice ones have a positive impact?

    • Uxora

I heard of a research that found out that the impact of a single mean coment or insult, could only be compensated by three or four compliments. Of course, it depends on the person, but, there you go.

  • hanan

she is beautiful, at healthy body weight. but that make up ? O_o it’s too much.

i hate jay for fat-shamming new mother (she was new mother few years ago n i know i am late here), but i don’t think she should feel overly sad either (i heard that thing made her stress for a while). wheww what for? is becoming overweight really end of the world for hollywood women? i don’t hate alyssa, i think she’s good looking even with some weight on. i only think at 40s, beautiful, famous, rich, successful, n having a family, i think she should had not let “fat-shaming” took her happiness. for real..(i know jay was totally wrong, please read my comment positively before u think i only came for trolling)
