Human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova: “Everyone wants a slim figure. Everyone gets breasts done”

0414-GQ-MOBB01.01 - Human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova: "Everyone wants a slim figure. Everyone gets breasts done"

GQ is featuring human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova this month and their piece is full of gems, ranging from Valeria’s stands against mixing races (!) to body image. From GQ:

The writer’s take on Valeria Lukyanova, the human Barbie: “I realize that just like everyone reading about Human Barbie, I had had a simple narrative prepared in my head: A small-town girl grows up obsessed with dolls, etc. Instead, I get a racist space alien….Her brand-new hair extensions, the color of Chardonnay, hang straight down, reaching her nonexistent hips. Her mouth is frozen in a vacant half-smile; the teeth are small and almost translucent…It could be that the world and I have misjudged the Human Barbie in a fundamental way. Her steady drift from reality and into the twenty-first dimension is not about submissiveness, fame, or snagging a husband. It could be about finding a way out, however random, bizarre, and costly the route appears from the outside. It could be about gaining some measure of freedom.”

Lukyanova on beauty: “Everyone wants a slim figure. Everyone gets breasts done. Everyone fixes up their face if it’s not ideal, you know? Everyone strives for the golden mean. It’s global now.”

Lukyanova on why ‘race-mixing’ is responsible for the increase in plastic surgery: “For example, a Russian marries an Armenian, they have a kid, a cute girl, but she has her dad’s nose. She goes and files it down a little, and it’s all good. Ethnicities are mixing now, so there’s degeneration, and it didn’t used to be like that. Remember how many beautiful women there were in the 1950s and 1960s, without any surgery? And now, thanks to degeneration, we have this. I love the Nordic image myself. I have white skin; I am a Nordic type—perhaps a little Eastern Baltic, but closer to Nordic.”

Lukyanova on having a family: “It’s unacceptable to me. The very idea of having children brings out this deep revulsion in me… I’d rather die from torture because the worst thing in the world is to have a family lifestyle.”

On feminism: “I’m against feminism. But what would you keep the children for? So they can get you a glass of water when you’re on your deathbed?”

Ugly on the inside and out. What a delusional woman.

    • JN1976

Whatever do you mean…she’s insanely beautiful and the most grounded human ever in existence. Darwin would be SO proud of this plastic, racist, woman and children hater, no?

      • Emilia

Haha Like Ur comment, hard but its true!

  • HB

This girl is BEYOND out of touch with reality and real humans. This makes Rashida Jones’s statement about only investing in your looks so much more important.
I think Lukyanova is insane, but it’s not entirely her fault that she thinks this way. It’s all to acceptable and okay just to have a surgery with no thought beforehand if you don’t like something. And wtf about feminism and children? And race mixing? This girl is kind of a horrible person.
And WHY WOULD THE LIKES OF GQ FEATURE HER??

  • Kali

In my opnion race mixing has created more beautiful people in the world…… half asians/half blacks/half anything are some of the most gorgeous people in the world.

    • Zoe

Agreed! I’ve always said the same thing- I just think certain races have are stereotyped as having specifically beautiful features e.g. Asians have beautiful hair, black people have beautiful skin, white people have beautifully diverse range of eye colours, and when you combine these features you tend to get the most amazing results! That’s not to say these features can’t be found among other races- I just used these examples as I find them to be commonly stereotyped.

I think it’s very sad that this woman seems to think her skin tone/race bestows her with a sense of superiority and it’s even more pitiable that she seems to place attaining a warped idea of physical perfection above gender equality.

She mentions that she’d rather be tortured than have a family as it’s “the worst thing in the world”, but to me there’s nothing more torturous than being a vapid individual whose insecurities result in the belief that their only real value is having a disturbing resemblance to a children’s toy.

    • solaxia

Totally agree Kali. I’m an ‘English Rose’ type, and I always find exotic women (as in different races from me) just sooo beautiful. I would love to have been mixed race, but it was not be! So I will just admire the beauty of others instead =o). This woman on the other hand is a nut bag.

    • Jenna

hehe, that makes me happy, I’m mixed 🙂
If this girl wants to be barbie so badly, doesn’t she realize that barbie never speaks? lol

  • louis21

what is that????? it’s not human. that’s for sure.

  • em

there’s nothing to discuss here….i’m sure we can all agree this woman has serious mental heath issues. end of story.

    • AlyssaMoh

Yup. All bets are off she is probably somewhere on the disorder spectrum. Not good media gives her an outlet. She needs help. Even Barbie had kids …

  • iana

please allow me to translate what I think she’s really saying here:
“I sayz any stoopid thingz to get in magazzzine: me alien, me no-fotoshop, me koala, me racist koala, arez you lookingz at meee yeet? giiiiiiiivvve meeeeee attensioooonzzz!!!”

  • lichinka

Yes, but she is 28 and won’t be young forever!
And she said before, that she is Breatharian (“eat”air and sunlight), kids are not an option here! No food for the brain, no clear thinking….

  • A

Lol. All I have to say.

  • Viva

well it’s probably a good thing she won’t be procreating

  • Miki

    she looks so freaky… n fragile…..

  • isa

is this a new low for GQ? I would never even put this crap into print…hope nobody takes it seriously.

All the mixed race people I know are gorgeousl. National Geographic did a portrait series “Changing Face of America”..they are really beautiful portraits

And side note-Does anyone know the model Anna Selezneva?? She is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous and lo and behold she is 1/2 Russian + 1/2 Armenian + no plastic surgery.

    • anna selzneva is gorgeous. i remember that national geographic series too, it was very memorable! i really loved it. i wish everyone could realize thats where the future is headed, and it’s great in lots of ways!

    • HB

I asked my friend about it who is a long term, avid GQ reader, and he said they often do a “weird curiosity pieces” on like drug lords, hackers, weird musicians, Duck Dynasty, etc. But still, the fact that it’s a woman kind of sets up the question of, are we praising this now? I bet there are some freaks out there who think she is hot… or at least would like the bragging rights of having been with her.

      • zastoneucim

GQ wasn’t praising her. Read the article, you’ll see the tone the journalist is using. So, no, no one is praising her.

        • HB

I read it, and I definitely got the tone! I should’ve specified in my comment that I was referring to the picture itself bearing the GQ logo.

    • Maja

She’s cute… And has the best haircolor ever 🙂 I’m trying to achieve that 😀

      • iana

Okay, I DO like her hair very much even though it’s not really her’s. I use the lightest shade of golden blonde that’s available (I like the brands schwarzkopf and Londa) and it gets my naturally very dark blonde hair to a little darker and goldier than Valeria’s. I’ve heard that you can use either the lightest ASH blonde then over it or one of those weird purple shampoos and it should lighten your hair and take out some of the gold tones. I haven’t tried it yet, but if you want to I’d suggest just giving the purple shampoo a try since it’s more temporary in case you don’t like it.

  • Annie

Too bad there are no brain implants. But maybe some serious therapy might help her.

  • chrissy

LOL I CAN’T EVEN. i get the feeling she’s the result of inbreeding. you know, because we’re all degenerates and all.

  • To be honest I kind of feel sorry for her. She must not be a very happy person at all.

  • lexi82

What a nut this woman is.

  • furbsie

Ugh, ignorant trash. I don’t want kids either, but I’d rather that than have something in common with this delusional twit. It seems pointless to dissect this mess of an interview because where do you begin? I definitely think she’s suffering from some mental illness (this is not me trying to be funny). I know this is going off-topic, but there should be a limit on the amount of cosmetic procedures one is allowed to do, especially if they are as delusional as she.

  • B

i will not believe that she really looks like this unless i see her in real life with my own eyes. til then, photoshop is the name of the game.

    • Layne Mikesell

If you google her name there are many pre-surgery pictures and many post-surgery undoctored photos. She does not look like this in real life. There is also a website devoted to exposing her called “exposingbarbie” or something to that effect, very interesting stuff.

  • Lea

This is wrong on so many levels. This girl clearly has some issues but the stuff she says is so damn ignorant that I have no sympathy for her.

  • Dead_Sarah

O-kay… All of the things she said do not make any sense.

  • peegee

There is always a huge debate on this site about the use of the term “real woman”. I think we can quite safely say she is NOT real! Even a space alien would look like a breathing being (just not a human being). Her skin does not look Nordic but plastic. I know of no Nordic person who looks like this.
Should this delusional woman be given space here?

  • “I’m against feminism. But what would you keep the children for? So they can get you a glass of water when you’re on your deathbed?”

i really don’t know what that means

    • Zoe

I know! Part of me felt like this was the first time she’d ever heard of the word ‘feminism’, so in order to conceal her ignorance, she simply diverted the question- I mean, her answer had absolutely NOTHING whatsoever to do with the topic!

  • Patsy

Just please please let me be alive when she reaches 40 and all the work done on her face and body start falling apart and mother nature takes it course on her.

    • Lau

      Hahahahaha!!! Good one.

  • Tonka

    It’s official; she’s definately missing a brick.

  • tequilla

in 50s and 60s she would be in institution. long ago.

  • arikari22

    She scares me.

  • medo

    Me 2!

    • Victorine

      Me 3!

  • Victorine

    Utterly deraned.

  • Emilia

wOW this isnt Even Worth it to Discuss. This women has a serious mental illness.i assume she was Not Loved as a child( her Kids comment what the???). And i am angry, really angry that she Even was interviewed and thet shes on this Site.she gets the attention she wants.and Thats wrong, she thinks shes Unique or so.but she is just really sick, what is really sad.and Nobody Should take this SHIT shes Talking serious.

  • Poires Poires

Why are we giving so much time to this person? Even the most superficial, narrow minded when it comes to beauty ideals person would not look at this woman and think she looks good. She’s clearly unbalanced and I’m scared to think what she’ll look like ten years from now.

  • lc

Well who takes her seriously? She’s obviously off her rocker…with a name like “Human Barbie”.

  • lc

Huh? No, “skinny propaganda” has nothing to do with this. This lady is delusional and clearly has her own mental problems that stem from something independent of “skinny propaganda”. There is much more she is striving for than just “being skinny”. Lol that isn’t the answer to everything, believe it or not.

  • KT

She doesn’t speak English, right…? I have to assume that some of what she says is lost in translation. I don’t think she means to sounds hateful; just sharing her (misguided?) opinion. I also don’t think she can be categorized under the “girl who gets so much plastic surgery in order to be beautiful, but ends up looking like a blow up doll” category, but rather the “person who gets a lot of plastic surgery because they don’t want to look human” category. She honestly wants to look like a doll, like the girl with implanted fangs, implanted horns, and a slit in her tongue wants to look like a lizard. I feel like she is being publicized in the wrong context because there is no real public forum for the correct context.

    • Jay

there’s a documentary about her on youtube… she says she wasn’t ever aiming to look like a barbie at all. i’m pretty sure she thinks she looks human. in fact, i believe she thinks she looks like the perfect human. she’s deluded

  • claud

shouldn’t she be dead by now if she supposedly eats air and doesn’t drink water…?? breatharian lol. her brain is clearly rotted.

  • guest

This is so frightening to me, she clearly has body dis-morphic disorder and/or several other issues. It’s awful what some people have reduced themselves to in order to attain a certain image, and it’s clearly messed with her head. I pity her but her racism and vanity is repulsive.

  • sfsdfsfsdfsfs

she doesn’t sound “free” at all, she sounds like a prisoner in her own world and she doesn’t even know it.

  • recoveredangel

my only question is why the f hasn’t someone put this poor girl in some kind of therapy??

  • Hay-hey

In her words, “I’d rather die from torture because the worst thing in the world is” to be like her!

  • Don’t care, next please.

  • menta

    1. she is mentally sick, no doubt

    2. she will never look the way she wants because it is unrealisric and human body has its own limists. she proves it herself because she always uses a LOT of photoshop on her pictures. that first pic is so funny, nobody belives she looks the same in real life lol.

    3. but she got some point, i agree the thing she said about striving for perfection. yesah everybody wants to be thinner and if you think about celebrities most women done plastic surgery and they all are going for the same look. but that look is still a ‘human’ look nevermind how fake and plastic is and what this girl fethisez is non-human image she will never get.

  • Mazoo

How come she is ‘nordic’, not mixed and not an example of ‘degradation’ but she still feels the need to shave her nose down, insert beach balloon boobs and starve herself?
I hate the idea too that people from a certain era, country, or ethnicity are or were more beautiful. The human race is full of variation but beauty and Divinci’s golden ratio is there amongst all of it. Oh an people in the 1950s did have plastic surgery, you silly girl!

  • claud

Your last statement is ignorant dude. Im 90lbs at 5′. Ill take no shame. But ill shame this barbie after i chop her head off n use it as a fishing bob. Lol

  • disqus_e5owUDo2KZ

Which is more offensive: celebrating black beauty or white?

    • neither. celebrating beauty is never offensive – putting down other types always is.

  • Amber

Just because she doesn’t like feminism and doesn’t want to settle down in a family, doesn’t mean she’s stupid

    • Fin

Not understanding the word feminism and her racists remarks are why she is called stupid.

  • belle

But Barbie had Ken..and Shelly. U no Barbie! Stop lying to yourself
Horrible quotes. Dummer than anything I’ve heard so far
Dummer than that Samantha sth woman

  • ALIKARAEYMEN

I just pitty this girl, so desperate to draw attention, I wish I could have helped her. And yet with the small part of her brain that is still functionning she talks about ethnicity and beauty and family. I JUST WANT TO ASK HER, BEFORE THERE WAS NATIONALITY AND ETHNICITY, THERE WERE JUST PEOPLE WHO HAd CHILDREN AND SO ON… SO THE PEOPLE WITHOUT ETHNICITY AND NATIONALITY made THE PEOPLE WHO OBVIOUSLY ARE PURELY BEAUTIFUL AS SHE ACCEPTS TO CALL them. SO SO AND SO SORRY BUT YOU HAVE LOST THE MOST PART OF YOUR BRAIN DUE TO YOUR agenda, AND EVEN THOUGH I KNOW YOU ARE SICK BOTH MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLLY, I AM DISGUSTED THAT I SHARE THE SAME SEX WITH YOU AND THAT I BREATHE IN THE SAME OXYGEN AS YOU DO… I KNOW YOU CRY WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE MIRROR BECAUSE DEEP DOWN INSIDE YOU KNOW YOU STILL WORTH NOTHING AND THAT YOU ARE STILL UGLY… HOPE YOU GET HELP BEFORE YOU DIE…

  • boobylicious

    Daddy problems much?

  • KT

Jay- Within the first three minutes of that video she’s talking about being from another world- the opening sequence is about being a “demi-god” rather than “human consumer”… and I’ve read interviews where she said she wants to be a doll, plastic, non-human; which is why she wants to be a “breatharian”. Dolls don’t eat or drink. She’s not trying to achieve any form of beauty that is understood by any of the masses of society. She is trying to achieve a form of beauty that SHE understands. So, who are we to judge something we know nothing of. And, as I thought, she does not speak English. Assume some of what she is saying has been roughly translated.

    • Alisha K.

But then, that just sounds like someone who has been deeply hurt or who has deep rooted, serious, insecurity issues—-to actually want to be a doll?? To actually believe that your life will only be great if and when you go from being human to plastic.

  • Wow. To be that concerned about appearance. I lost both testicles to cancer and I haven’t bothered with implants yet. Rather live with the empty sack than get surgery again.

  • Jenna

Where are this girls parents? Are they okay with her living off of air? LIke how does this girl get through a day? Obviously she needs some sort of intervention because she is sick in the head.

  • retrobanana

    this is a joke

  • kateuk

Mixed race children are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

  • Jaz

    Holy crap…
But seriously, I don’t think she actually knows what feminism means? Her response made zero sense?

  • Myriam

The brain needs glucose, … she just proved it.

  • humanmanga

She looks more like a Sindy doll to me, not Barbie- A Fascist Sindy! I guess it was inevitable- women can’t be constantly fed the idea that they are only as good as they look, regardless of their abilities and incomes and it not be taken to the nth degree,; She is just the epitome of this and not necessarily mentally ill~ everyone mentally ill is not obsessed with their image and we need to stop saying anyone who goes against the grain has issues as it is just perpetuating more of the old ideas of ‘hysterical women’.

  • Alisha K.

Idk if it’s because she has an accent, but I really didn’t understand what she was trying to say. And as a biracial child I resent that…
