30 year-old Lena Dunham is extra happy this week – the reason? She appears on the cover of Glamour Magazine, together with the other three Girls… and her thigh cellulite! The star shared her views on body image in a long post on Instagram this week:

Okay, here goes: throughout my teens I was told, in no uncertain terms, that I was f~~~~~~ funny looking. Potbelly, rabbit teeth, knock knees- I could never seem to get it right and it haunted my every move. I posed as the sassy confident one, secretly horrified and hurt by careless comments and hostility. Let’s get something straight: I didn’t hate what I looked like- I hated the culture that was telling me to hate it. When my career started, some people celebrated my look but always through the lens of “isn’t she brave? Isn’t it such a bold move to show THAT body on TV?” Then there were the legions of trolls who made high school teasing look like a damned joke with the violent threats they heaped on, the sickening insults that made me ache for teen girls like me who might be reading my comments. Well, today this body is on the cover of a magazine that millions of women will read, without photoshop, my thigh on full imperfect display. Whether you agree with my politics, like my show or connect to what I do, it doesn’t matter- my body isn’t fair game. No one’s is, no matter their size, color, gender identity, and there’s a place for us all in popular culture to be recognized as beautiful. Haters are gonna have to get more intellectual and creative with their disses in 2017 because none of us are going to be scared into muumuus by faceless basement dwellers, or cruel blogs, or even our partners and friends. Thank you to the women in Hollywood (and on Instagram!) leading the way, inspiring and normalizing the female form in EVERY form, and thank you to @glamourmag for letting my cellulite do the damn thing on news stands everywhere today ❤️ Love you all.

I find her so unattractive, self-centered, and insecure. Not a fan. Every time I hear an interview, I dislike her more. I feel like she just wants to be cool so damn bad.

Agreed. The last interview I heard, she said she wished she had had an abortion. What a peach.

i am by no means a lena dunham fan, but it was a joke—dont believe everything you hear from right wing media. its almost always taken out of context.

Haha….I heard it directly from her…..and am aware she thinks she is a comedian. I just don’t find her funny at all.

But you’re probably one of those people that takes every opportunity – however irrelevant – to politicize conversation.

I think Zosia looks the coolest.

And she was fantastic in Mad Men. She’s a very underrated actor, IMHO. And she is really gorgeous and edgy here; looks as though she’s lost a little weight and it suits her.
I like Lena Dunham, despite the silly attention seeking things she says, because of her achievement in media.she obviously suffers terribly from her perception of herself as the homely girl.

Well said.

I agree with everything she said but I still don’t like her. Her personality seems so unforgiving and grating.

The luckiest girl in the world. Not too bright, or pretty, or interesting, and yet, somehow, she’s managed to make those cards really work for her. “Girls” is a show I sort of hate, yet I’m still compelled to watch for some strange reason. IRL Lena takes herself way too fking seriously and nine times out of ten something moronic comes flying out of her mouth. You’d think by now she’d have learned to filter herself a little but nope, she’s still going strong. I honestly find Lena even more annoying that Hannah and OMFG is that saying something.
