Beyonce’s Rep: There’s No Weight Gain, the Dress Made Her Curvy
Beyonce’s rep is firing back at critics who have said the singer, 27, has packed on pounds.
After Beyonce was photographed in NYC March 8 for her I … Am tour in a Thierry Mugler couture dress, online commenters blasted her curves (”Why does she look so deformed?” one quipped).
But her rep tells Usmagazine.com the dress — which was originally designed for Jerry Hall — is to blame.
“This is not a weight-gain issue,” her rep tells Us. “Beyonce is in the best shape of her life. The exaggerated hips are a design element of a truly couture dress. Beyonce has always loved this dress.”
What’s more, a rep for designer Mugler tells Us the waist on Hall’s dress was 23 inches and was reduced to 19 for Beyonce.
Says the Mugler rep, “The padded hips intentionally focus attention to the waist.”
OK, so the 19 inch part is completely ridiculous. It’s so ridiculous it’s not even funny.

I wasn’t overly taken with Beyonce in this dress, I think she looks much better in grecian style dress which “flow” over her curves… I don’t think she needs her hips exagerrating! And if Beyonce has a 19 inch waist, Jerry Halls must be about 10. Why say such ridiculous things?!

I agree. This is ridiculous and painful to see. 19 inch waist? Maybe 28″ waist at best. I think they INCREASED the waist size of the dress for B. The proof is in these pix. Whoever is on the left is SLIMMER (by far!) I am not a fan of Beyonce in any way, shape, or form…but she is not fooling anyone. All I see are mutated thunder thighs.

I always thought that dress made Beyonce’s proportions look extremely ridiculous. IMO, she definitely did not need “padding” in her hips, since they have always been very curvy in comparison to her upper half. And just to put things in perspective, Keira Knightley supposedly has a 22 1/2 inch waist and Victoria Beckham a 23 inch waist. If Beyonce has a 19 inch waist, then I can hula hoop on a Cheerio….

i don’t think she looks deformed…it’s just how the designer intented to look…pretty edgy….you really think that he would let Bee look like crap in his own desing? (beeing her creative advisor and all)…some people in my country (Romania) made some comments about Beyonce’s look in this dress…they were like ..”Beyonce’s hips get bigger and bigger every day”….that’s just silly…it’s obvious that those hips are padded…

Jerry Hall is 6′0″ tall and Beyonce is 5′7″. So I think Beyonce’s waist could be small, but definitely not that small. Megan Fox is more or less the same height as Beyonce and claims to have a 22-inch waist and Beyonce certainly does not look slimmer than Megan.

This article does not state Beyonce has a 19 inch waist. Many couture dresses have corsetry built into their foundations and it is possible that Beyonce asked for the waist to close at 19 inches when her natural waist is far greater than this. A person with a 25, 26, or even bigger waist can still attempt to squeeze into a 19 inch corset and they would end up with these over emphasised, ugly hips as Beyonce has. She has not understood how flattering a corset can be if you use it to cinch just an inch or two off your waist. It is also possible her ‘people’ are always telling her she is thinner than she really is and didn’t stop her trying to squeeze into such a small dress.
I bet they were measuring the gown flat, so 19″ across and therefore 28″ around because there is no way Beyonce has a 19″ waist.

beyonce is lovely but these reps say the most ridiculous things..i remember some celebrity was perfectly normal sized and the rep had to embellish and”plant ” snippets in the magazines saying “X is the thinnest person ever. She is the smallest person I have ever seen”

Nice try, but she has no where near a 19″ waist. It could be 38″/2, but it doesn’t look that small either. She has no defined waist in that corset dress as she is hardly being compressed at all. She is all weight gain in her hips and thighs, that is why she looks like that.

Okay going to do a little math here. Scaled up proportions to the same height Beyonce’s waist looks about 2-4 inches bigger than Jerry Hall’s waist.
Jerry Hall is 6ft and apparently has a 24 inch waist in the pic. Beyonce is 5ft6 so if we scaled down 24 inches to her height it would come out as 22 inches….now add the 2-4 inches and you get 24-26 inches which sounds about right. Remember she is wearing a corset, so her natural waist is probably about 28 inches.
