“My mother taught me less is more,” says Lowndes. “When I discovered bronzer in tenth grade, I kind of went to town – I looked like an Oompa Loompa!”

Added Shenae, 19, “My hair is my security blanket. A good hair day? I’m on top of the world. Otherwise, I feel self-conscious.”
