Skinny VS Curvy

After losing 42 pounds, Kelly Osbourne is the proud owner of a 118 pounds figure – or 160 cm and 54 kg. People Magazine’s got more details:

The British bombshell, who is engaged to British model Luke Worrall, confessed Tuesday that she currently clocks in at 118 pounds, and couldn’t be happier with the attention her svelte figure attracts. For Kelly, dropping the pounds means she’s suddenly a welcome fixture during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week as opposed to being an outcast.

“I still wake up every day, and I turn around and look at myself and say, ‘I can’t believe this is actually happening,’ ” she said during G-Star Raw’s fashion show held at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom. “I can’t believe that I’m coming here and I’m being perceived like this, and everybody wants to talk to me and ask me what I’m wearing and send me clothes where usually before — I won’t lie — a lot of the PR companies were really horrible to me. They didn’t want to give me clothes. They didn’t want me to wear them. They just didn’t like me.”

Teen pop icon Debbie Gibson is our second celebrity this week who posed in a bikini in a magazine and shared her weight loss journey – let’s hear her story:

ITW: You look fantastic! But you never appeared to be particularly overweight.

DG: I was always so active, especially when I was busy performing on Broadway. I could eat macaroni and cheese during every intermission, and I wouldn’t gain weight. But my metabolism has definitely slowed down, so some weight came on really fast.

ITW: So why did you want to lose weight?

DG: I was hiding it really well, but I was a good 15 pounds heavier than I wanted to be. People should focus on good health first and foremost, but I realized that I feel best when I’m at my leanest, and I wanted to get a grip on this when I was only a little overweight, as opposed to letting it get away from me. So, I decided to try my boyfriend’s [Dr. Taylor] program, which is called Better Than Lipo.

ITW: How much do you weigh now?

DG: I’m at 114 pounds (she is 5′6”). I was okay at my previous weight, but I felt like my inner diva did not match my outer diva.

ITW: And how do you feel?

DG: I feel hotter and more in control. It’s even improved my sex life. You shouldn’t get your whole self-worth from how you look, but at 39, I think it’s okay to focus on the outside a bit if it makes you feel good.

After V Magazine’s Size Issue, here comes another “pro diversity” message (or so they say): Love Magazine put 8 naked supermodels on their covers and posted their measurements with the purpose of showing how different these “ideal bodies” really are.

“For this issue of LOVE, we took eight women who are generally acknowledged as the most beautiful in the world, got them to show off their bodies — widely regarded as the most perfect in the world — and photographed them all in exactly the same position for the cover,” LOVE’s editor-in-chief Katie Grand told VOGUE.COM. “We did this to show how much they differed physically from one another, which is why we also printed their measurements.”

“The point is that ‘perfection’ is not fixed, timeless or transcendent,” Grand – who put Beth Ditto on the cover of the first ever issue of LOVE – explained. “It varies, as the measurements of our cover girls show.”

Are you getting the “perfection isn’t fixed” concept of this shoot? I mean, they all look super good, but they’re basically all tall, thin, supermodels… and even though the magazine tries to convince us “how much they differ physically from one another” , these girls are still all part of 1 tiny group: the tall, thin, almost-identical-measurements supermodel group.

Well, nothing screams “Different!” more than a group of 8 models, 5 with 34” hips and 3 with 35” hips’.
