Skinny VS Curvy

 

Lots of fabulous dresses at the SAG Awards last night, they definitely deserve a big gallery!

A few remarks:

* Angelina Jolie does not get bored of the same dress, apparently. At least she’s changing colors. And those arms and hands still look sooo skinny.

* Lisa Rinna looked veeeery narrow and Katie Holmes looked rather… underdressed (and are those shoes still in trend?)

* Nice cleavages on Jane Krajkowski, Jenna Fisher and Kate Winslet.

* The hit colors: red and white / ivory.

What do we have here? 2 gorgeous redheads with pale skins (a rarity in Hollywood and, at the same time, a group that wants Lindsay Lohan back!) in their long gowns on the SAG red carpet: lean and skinny Evan Rachel Wood and the MEGA-curvy Christina Hendricks.

These ladies might have related hair colors, skintones and eye nuances, but I know one thing that they definiely do NOT have in common: body type! Just check out the difference between Rachel’s hips and Christina’s hips – it’s quite amazing and it’s living proof that we come in very different shapes and sizes (especially since these 2 ladies seem to embrace their NATURAL body types).

Let’s talk about a few:

Christina Hendricks looked very voluptuous (though the dress should have fitted better) and Rita Wilson was bursting out of her cleavage.

Susan Sarandon’s figure looks absolutely amazing for 62, while Jennifer Carpenter looked frightenly skinny in a simple black dress (we haven’t seen SUCH a skinny figure in a while).

Jessica Capshaw wasn’t particularly toned and definitely under-dressed in a short hot pink dress (I think the one and only short one), while Maria Menounos’ waist looked impossibly tiny.

Laura Linney, Anna Paquin and Elizabeth Banks all chose very flattering dresses that showed off their amazing figures.

Christina Hendricks, the sex bomb from Mad Men, got a lot of fans in our Skinny Versus Curvy battle a few weeks back. Click here if you missed it!

It’s pretty obvious that Christina’s figure stands out in skinny Hollywood, due to her extremely curvy, voluptuous and hourglass shape (not to mention that we get red hair instead of blond and pale instead of tanned). Here’s what she had to say about her shapely body in Page Six:

“I was a model for years, and even when I was 19 years old and 115 pounds [and 5´8˝], my agency said, ‘Your ankles are a little large. If you could lose 10 pounds, that would be really great,’” I’ve always had boobs and hips, even when I was 115 pounds. And here I am, much heavier than when I was modeling, and all of a sudden people are giving me positive feedback. Sure, I’d be happier with 10 pounds off—wouldn’t every woman? But at the same time, when I looked at myself in those red carpet pictures, I thought, ‘Oh my God, I looked beautiful.’ I didn’t tear myself apart.”

“No one will send me dresses,” she says. “Designers loan size 2 or 4 samples to actresses, but I’m not that size. It’s like I’m a freak because I’m curvy and I can’t squeeze into those things. I’ve had some problems with that.”

Not familiar with Christina? Well, you can find her in Emmy winner series MadMen – but more relevantly, she’s an explosion of curves, ready to knock Kim Kardashian’s socks off! Yes that right, she’s got the booty, she’s got the boobs, she’s got the waist - which makes her an ideal hourglass figure, ready for our little battle.

On the other side, we’ve got the ever-skinny Teri Hatcher who chose a bright yellow dress last night to reveal her thin and tall frame. Finally, this year, the celebs forgot all about the classic black and went for much bolder colors.
