Alessandra Ambrosio and Kristin Cavallari may be back to their pre-pregnancy weight 2 weeks after giving birth, but that’s certainly not the norm when it comes to most women (nor should it be) – here are 2 new moms with more realistic post-baby figures: Drew Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon (who both gave birth around 5 months ago), looking cute and happy in retro-inspired swimsuits on the beach this weekend, while on a girl trip in Mexico (that also included Cameron Diaz).
‘It takes time. Screw these impossible expectations. I’m doing it very healthy and sensibly. You gotta be nice to yourself.
‘What kind of parent are you going to be if you’re to be berating yourself in the mirror?
‘I want to instill in her that when she’s happy on the inside she’ll be the most beautiful on the outside. I have to live by that same mantra and it’s a lot easier because I get to eat.’
… says 37 year-old Drew, who welcomed her daughter Olive in September 2012.
The actress tells People she gained almost 40 pounds during her pregnancy — five of which came the week before she gave birth. Nearly two weeks overdue, her attitude was, “All bets are off! I’ll have two cheeseburgers.” Now working out again to shed the weight, her motto is “impossible expectations are impossible.” She adds, “I’m the last person anyone should look at for workout tips. I don’t have them. I don’t care [laughs].”

Drew Barrymore is on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar this month, even though she doesn’t really resemble the real girl below:
The real Drew doesn’t have a 22” waist or model-long legs either:
Moving on, Drew shares some thoughts in the magazine:
On exercise and body image: Drew’s “two or three hours of exercise†a week is paying off. “But,†she cautions, “there is some lighting where I absolutely resemble Shamu. People have to know that you pick the best pictures where the lighting is beautiful and the angles are right and the body positions are gorgeous. And then, guess what, you turn, sit, hit the wrong light, and your belly flaps over and we all look human again.†Drew won’t be giving Jillian Michaels a run for her money anytime soon, though. “I can apply myself at my job 20 hours a day, seven days a week. But I can’t apply myself to my body more than a couple hours a week. I have no passion for fanaticism. The psychology when you just forgive yourself and enjoy what nature gave you is so liberating.â€
On losing her “baby fatâ€: Even though she’s in sweats, Drew looks pretty dreamy. She is lightly tanned from a solo trip to India, and her bone structure has popped. “I feel like some of my baby fat is going away,†she observes, “and that’s not just physically, it’s psychologically. I think that your body is in tune with your mind and your spirituality and your heart. If things are going better, I just think you look better.â€
Shenae Grimes, Stephanie Prat, Jenna Dewan and Drew Barrymore all attended the Nylon + Express August Denim Issue Party in West Hollywood on Tuesday night and posed for the cameras in their short shorts or strapless minidresses on the red carpet.
Are you a fan of Shenae’s look or do you prefer something more simple, like Jenna’s?
