The full story from Daily Mail:

Her lifestyle blog sees her dishing out advice on everything from diets to parenting. But Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed she is struggling with one problem just like any other mother – how to manage her daughter as she approaches adolescence.

The actress, 43, said she finds it hard to strike a balance between wanting to allow 12-year-old Apple to ‘express herself’, and feeling worried about her child wearing short skirts and make-up. She added that she is concerned young girls are being brainwashed by ‘post-feminist imagery’ that portrays provocative behaviour as empowerment.

Speaking at the China Exchange in London on Thursday, she said: ‘It is concerning because I think there is a very denigrating set of imagery and behaviours happening. Women are so powerful and so capable and to have it inferred that you have to generate yourself in any way to be likeable is abhorrent to me. With my daughter I try to find a balance of being an example for her as a woman who … works and tries not to go out in public naked. I am her mum but at the same time I want her to express herself. Sometimes it is hard when she is wearing something really, really short and a lot of make-up and I have to resist the instinct as I want her to experiment and find her own identity. It is an interesting balance right now being a mother of a coming-of-age girl as there are a lot of conflicting messages in our culture.’

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Healthy Eating & Cooking Tips

goop-book

E! News made a list of Gwyneth Paltrow’s cooking and health tips after reading her new book called ‘It’s All Easy’ – check them out:

1. The key to making your cooking better? Approach it with “an air of ease.”
2. A Spiralizer and a Vitamix will change your life.
3. The more you pile on your plate, the more you’ll long for the simpler things in life—like not having a lot piled on your plate.
4. Acai is so over. Pitaya is the hot new healthy ingredient.
5. Never, ever eat grab n’ go salads.
6. Avocado toast will never go out of style.
7. If you’re too scared to try making your own almond milk, just blend almond butter and water. Seriously.
8. Even Gwyneth Paltrow can’t give up caffeine.
9. NEVER ORDER TAKEOUT.
10. Breakfast for dinner is not only encouraged, but it is a sneaky, sneaky chef trick.
11. Self-imposed rules and standards are great, but not if they get in the way of the all-important Daydreaming and Meandering.
12. Get rid of your microwave. Like, just smash it.
13. Get familiar with your local Asian grocery store.
14. For optimal summer enjoyment, spend your evenings dining al fresco around a large farmhouse table. Bonus points if you add in crisp white wine and sun-kissed children.
15. To get your friends to come over, always lure them with snacks.

Gwyneth Paltrow: “I don’t believe you should rule out any kind of food”

On what she actually eats:

“[There’s] a lot of misinformation about what I actually eat. I don’t believe you should rule out any kind of food. I believe in enjoying life. I’m not a good dieter and since I’ve had kids, I have loosened up a lot. My favorite ‘bad food’? French fries. I would eat them at every meal if I could.”

On allowing her kids occasional treats:

“You can’t tell them, ‘No Coke, no cake.’ It is not realistic. Their favorite foods are pasta and french fries. It’s about trying to augment that with something healthy.”

Gwyneth Paltrow: “I believe in exercise, eating well, drinking lots of water, sex & sleeping”

On living a healthy life:

I think it’s really important to be happy, and I think women get happy by being authentic. But I also believe in exercise, eating well, drinking lots of water, sex, sleeping and being around people who make you feel good. And I think that glow that you get in life comes from a combination of all those things.

Gwyneth Paltrow: “We have organic snacks and we have Oreos, too”

On how people think she is much more strict with her diet than she actually is:

“We are a pretty balanced house. I mean, kids eat sugar. That’s how it goes. So we have organic snacks and we have Oreos, too, so… I think there’s a lot of misinformation about what I actually eat. I really don’t have any rules. I really believe in delicious food and enjoying life and not saying no to anything. But at the same time, you know, I think it’s important to understand what good nutrition does and make sure you maintain a balance. For me the big things are really processed food and foods that have tons of chemicals and pesticides. I try to stay away from that, but I love French fries and cheese and martinis and all that kind of thing.”
