Skinny VS Curvy

These days, we’re all pretty curious to see Jessica in an non-unflattering outfit. Because as I’ve said before, I believe that the outfit was the only thin wrong in the infamous high-waisted jeans pictures. So, here’s Jessica the other day, completely covered up, looking much better than on the previous occasion and from what we can tell, healthy.

On related news, curvy Kim Kardashian also liked Jessica’s new figure – Kim’s words:

“Call me crazy, but when I saw the picture, I was like, ‘Oh my God, Jessica looks hot!’ I actually love the outfit. I think she looks amazing. I love high-waisted jeans, I loved that belt, and her hair looked fabulous.”

Wow, “Jessica Gained Weight” appears to be the story of the week! More and more rumours and responses are surfacing – here are 2 different versions:

OK! Magazine:

Indeed, the singer sent a statement to critics: She loves her curves! “I’m not fat,” Jess recently confessed to a pal. “Going from a size 2 to a size 8, that’s not fat. If I weren’t Jessica Simpson, no one would care.”

Jessica’s confidence no doubt comes from her boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo, 28. “He thinks Jess is hot no matter what,” a friend of the singer tells OK!. “He wants to date a girl who can have a few beers, ribs, fries and dessert.

And it seems Jessica is more than happy to indulge Romo’s wishes. “She’s not willing to trade having fun with Tony with being a size 2,” the friend says. “She doesn’t want to have people focus only on her looks.”

MSNBC:

“She’s loving it,” said a source close to Simpson, who suspects her weight gain is strategic. “It will probably get her back on covers right when she is a ’supporting’ act on tour. I bet Joe (Simpson) has already sold the weight-loss story.”

Despite the benefits of once again being a newsstand success, Simpson’s rep says rumors that dad is shopping around the story are “entirely untrue.”

 

Jessica Simpson’s former trainer, Harley Pasternak (who helped Jess get in shape for her role in Major Movie Star) approves of Jessica’s fuller figure:

She has curves where a woman needs to have curves. We all go a little bit up and a little bit down. But she’s healthy. She’s still sexy. She’s still a beautiful woman. And I have no problem with the way she looks.’ He adds, ‘I think if more people looked the way she looks now, the country would be a lot healthier.’ “

Jessica was a fantastic client. I think Jessica has a really healthy perspective on her healthy body image and looks like a woman. I would take her body any day over somebody who’s emaciated and looks unhealthy.”

The celebrity trainer wasn’t the only one who defended Jessica’s new figure – Ashlee Simpson was also there to support her sister – here’s what she had to say:

“Since when did a woman’s weight become newsworthy… I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister’s weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman’s weight or figure as a headline on Fox News (”Jessica Simpson Shocks Fans With Noticeably Fuller Figure”.)

“All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you’re a celebrity, there shouldn’t be a different standard. Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend? I seriously doubt it.

“How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure? Now can we focus on the things that really matter. -Ash ”

It’s not so much that Jessica gained some pounds (we’ve been wondering for a while what was going on under all the baggy clothes), but it’s the fact that she chose a really unflattering outfit for her body type. The kind of outfit that only enhances the areas where she seems to deposit her weight: upper arms, bust, upper abdomen, shoulders and back.

What’s wrong with the outfit? Let’s see:

1. The thick belt around the middle is the last thing a reversed triangle needs, because this belt basically adds a little more volume to the bust area.

2. The round neckline should be abandoned in favor of the V neckline in order to elongate the thickest area of Jessica’s body (chest).

3. The high-waisted jeans – this kind of pants are generally unflattering, although some hourglasses or vases might pull them off. V body shapes, however, are advised to avoid them because all they do is to shorten the torso (the last thing a V shaped figure with a very small torso needs). Jessica would look great with long tops that elongate the waist and balance the whole figure. Even more, the voluminous pockets in the middle area are not flattering, because they add a little extra volume where it’s not needed.

4. Also, I would have chosen a looser top for Jessica (not very loose, but not skintight either) with sleeves.

5. The hair is pretty by itself, but I have noticed that Jessica actually looks slimmer when she’s wearing it in a pony tail. Since she’s already very curvy in the upper half, the super-big hair is a little too much and it unbalances the figure.

NOTE: I do not believe that Jessica is fat / chubby / thick / insert similar word. All I believe is that she could look MUCH, MUCH better (amazing, actually) in the right clothes… and I’m a little sad that she doesn’t seem to have the right stylist.
