Guess what? Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, Sports Illustrated hottie Brooklyn Decker and the most popular plus-size model Crystal Renn will share the cover of Glamour’s June issue!

And we can’t know for sure if they’re gonna lack clothes in the final photo, but the 3 beauties posed together in St. Barths this week wearing nothing but bikinis!

Glamour Magazine promised last year (after the overwhelming response they got for including naked Lizzie Miller’s tummy in the magazine) to feature women of different shapes and sizes – and it looks like they’re doing a pretty good job. Unlike Love’s Magazine (failed) initiative to feature models of different sizes, these 3 girls right here are actually different.

Vogue Magazine Launches “Vogue Curvy”

March 1, 2010 in Liv Tyler, Skinny Versus Curvy Battle by Versus

Vogue Magazine Launches Vogue Curvy | liv tyler

So hear this out: Vogue Italy launched a magazine (see the website here) called “Vogue Curvy”, a concept that is represented by the slogan “Beauty Comes in All Shapes and Sizes”. That’s quite something… considering that it’s coming from VOGUE!

What I don’t get is this:

1. Their definition of “curvy” – it seems that in their book “curvy” is everybody who isn’t very skinny, apple shapes, hourglass shapes, plus-size women, average-sized women, all of them (except, of course, skinny women). Otherwise I can’t understand why they chose Liv Tyler as one of their “Curvy Icons” (when Liv is a slim apple shape?!) and said that she is known for her “generous curves”. Other celebrities that are featured in the magazine include America Ferrera, plus-size model Johanna Dray, Christina Hendricks, Crystal Renn, Tyra Banks and Lizzie Miller (wow, that post has 221 comments!).

2. Why you need another a different magazine for the “curvy” women – why mixing the “curvy” (read average, non-skinny, plus-size and all the other types, sizes and shapes) girls with the skinny girls in the same magazine is simply NOT possible. Why?

3. In the same context, Vogue Italia also launched Vogue Black.

What do you think about this initiative? Is it something you appreciate or is it a bit offensive?

“Plus-Size” Models Walk the Runway at London Fashion Week

Plus Size Models Walk the Runway at London Fashion Week | body type clothes

Remember THIS STORY?

The same designer that was abandoned by some of his team for using bigger models last year is back – this time, Mark Fast used a bunch of (some call them “plus-size”, some call them “real-size”) non-skinny models during his show at 2010 London Fashion Week, who walked the runway together with the skinny, typical models.

As his representatives said before, the idea behind this initiative is to show that…

“We wanted women to know they didn’t have to be a size zero to wear a Mark Fast dress – curvier women can look even better in them.”

Hmm… I don’t really get their message when looking at these pictures. Facts are, these extra tight and stretchy, knitwear dresses in nude tones aren’t extremely flattering on these size 12 models. Even more, it looks like the dresses are a bit too tight (on the arms, bust) and the underwear / stockings they wear underneath are not the best choices either.

I bet that these size 12 girls could have looked really great in dresses with more structure or in any classic silhouette designs.

What are your thoughts?

Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham Are the Same Size, Says Posh

January 28, 2010 in Jennifer Lopez, Skinny Versus Curvy Battle, Victoria Beckham by Versus

Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham Are the Same Size, Says Posh | jennifer lopez

That’s right – let’s find out the details from Us Weekly:

They’re both multi-tasking moms and wives, fashion icons, and pop music veterans, but Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez share one more thing in common, believe it or not: dress sizes!

Although Lopez as is famous for her curves as Beckham is for her rail-thin frame, Beckham tells 10 magazine (via The Cut) that they actually fit into the same dresses.

Discussing her fashion line to the magazine, Beckham, 34, says, “My dresses are for women of all different shapes and sizes. Actually, the one I tried on yesterday was the one Jennifer wore.”

Posh herself sounds as surprised as anyone, adding, “Who’d have thought I’d be the same size as Jennifer Lopez!”

The British star doesn’t note what that exact dress size is.

Even with three sons underfoot, Beckham has said frequently that she still hits the gym seven days a week. “I run so quick after a double espresso, my [sneakers] are on fire! They have sparks!” she says.

Ryan Seacrest, who worked alongside Beckham when she was a guest judge on American Idol, observed that she eats “perfectly… [she says], ‘I’m getting the steamed this, the steamed that.’”
