Voluptuous Christina Hendricks Talks about Her Figure
Christina Hendricks, the sex bomb from Mad Men, got a lot of fans in our Skinny Versus Curvy battle a few weeks back. Click here if you missed it!
It’s pretty obvious that Christina’s figure stands out in skinny Hollywood, due to her extremely curvy, voluptuous and hourglass shape (not to mention that we get red hair instead of blond and pale instead of tanned). Here’s what she had to say about her shapely body in Page Six:
“I was a model for years, and even when I was 19 years old and 115 pounds [and 5´8˝], my agency said, ‘Your ankles are a little large. If you could lose 10 pounds, that would be really great,’” I’ve always had boobs and hips, even when I was 115 pounds. And here I am, much heavier than when I was modeling, and all of a sudden people are giving me positive feedback. Sure, I’d be happier with 10 pounds off—wouldn’t every woman? But at the same time, when I looked at myself in those red carpet pictures, I thought, ‘Oh my God, I looked beautiful.’ I didn’t tear myself apart.”
“No one will send me dresses,” she says. “Designers loan size 2 or 4 samples to actresses, but I’m not that size. It’s like I’m a freak because I’m curvy and I can’t squeeze into those things. I’ve had some problems with that.”

Wow she is insanely gorgeous:)
a real woman. love her.
I know in that skinny vs curvy battle I was like (almost) the only one who picked Teri, and I stand by that choice IN THOSE PICTURES. But on all of these she looks amazing, wow. And I love her attitude/confidence. Very refreshing.
She is really amazingly gorgeous. I want that hair! It´s fabulous! She´s a perfect package.
Drop dead gorgeous. More women like these please!!
Perfect body.
She perfectly embodies what real women should look like.
On a side note: Her hair is AMAZING!
shes not ‘big’
maybe the hair isn’t real as well, like she may be carrying extensions in her head…
She looks great. But I have to say…
She was blessed with good proportions. When women pack more meat on their bones, it doesn’t always stick to the right spots. Not all women get giant boobs, small waists, and curvy hips. I’m jealous.
She’s really beautiful personally, I think it’s refereshing to see someone different in hollywood that doesn’t fit the usual “type”

[...] Didn’t featuring Christina Hendricks, one of the most gorgeous women on television right now: source I thought 2 quotes from the article were particularly interesting: [...]
…REAL woman, love it.
I’ve always like celebs on the extremely skinny side…But I caught a commerical (never seen) for “Mad Men” and saw her on it for 2 seconds. I thought to myself “OMG… who is that woman? She has a perfect heart-shaped butt!” She is a perfect hour-glass!! Wow is all I can say!!
i am hugely jealous of her body
Finally! A woman in Hollywood who has a body like mine! It’s disturbing when women of our shape are made to feel fat by certain sectors of the media.
I’m pale like her, too – it’s so refreshing to see Christina (a modern-day Marilyn) having so much success. But, of course, that success has to come from a series set in the past! >:(
She’s stunning! And very lucky that her ‘fat’ goes to all the right places and stays away from her waist. Not many women are lucky enough to be able to do that. Most will get a roll or two accumulating on their bellies with weight gain.
Once again though, I’m not liking the fact that people feel the need to put down other body types in order to praise this curvy one. Saying that only women who look like Christina are ‘real women’ is the same as saying everyone who is not slim like a supermodel is fat/ugly.
The real trouble is the obsession with extreme skinniness that has been touted as desireable for so long. No one – not even those supermodels – are naturally that thin: they are only that thin because they are on strict diets and work out all the time, if they aren’t on drugs to keep them thin, and smoking to suppress their appetites.
I personally believe that the hourglass shape is the most attractive body shape, but I think that all normal, healthy women are beautiful in their own right. What isn’t beautiful is the starved women of Hollywood and the rest of the world: if women were meant to be that thin, we all would be, and it wouldn’t be so hard to maintain such a look.
If that was in response to me: I never said it was a problem, I was only saying I do not like that people feel the only way to praise one body type is to put down the other one. It’s quite sad. Why can’t we appreciate something without insulting somebody?
As for your comments on models… are you sure that it is true? Many people consider me ’supermodel thin’, but I don’t work out (hope to change that), I don’t diet, I don’t smoke and I don’t do drugs. Many East Asian people are slimmer than me. Are all East Asians smoking, drug-addicted health freaks? No.
Can one really say that something is abnormal because we aren’t all that way? That can apply to anything. I could say everyone who is taller than 5′3″ is a freak because not everyone in the world is 5′3″ plus. There are different body types in the world. There is not meant to be one ideal. People need to acknowledge there are different types with different virtues, accept their own type and make the most of it.
Hollywood isn’t really doing that, but if someone allows Hollywood to dictate what does and does not happen in their life they have a lot more to change than just their attitude about their bodies!
Thank you!
lord, it’s like if you’re not a size 14, you’re not a real woman. Let me tell you something, there women that don’t eat or have bad habits to keep themselves skinny, I’m sure, but there are many many many women that are FAT because they have horrible eating habits.
I used to work at a modeling agency and yes there were girls that starved themselves to keep to their working size, but there were MANY girls who were naturally thin, I’ve met girls who couldn’t put on weight if they tried, and I’ve met some girls who have the bodies they have because they work VERY hard in the gym everyday to get those bodies
Christina Hendricks has fantastic proportions, she’s lucky, and when your proportions are off, you’re gonna look funny. if Christina Hendricks was an A cup, she’d look like a pear, if she was a 33″ hips she’s look funny. It doesn’t matter what SIZE you are, it matters on how fit you are.
What a lovely girl
An amazing figure, and such a pretty face
she seems down to earth, too
