Diet Pill Company Offers Gabourey Sidibe Their Products
March 15, 2010 in Gabourey Sidibe by Versus
After last week, Howard Stern criticized (mocked) Gabourey’s weight, this week, a diet pill company made an offer to Gabourey – let’s hear the details via PopEater:
There has been a big debate about whether Gabourey Sidibe’s weight will hamper her future career, despite her recent Oscar nomination.
Now, one weight loss company has written a letter to the ‘Precious’ star, telling her she needs to worry about her health — not her image, TMZ reports.
AssaiSupply.com has offered the actress a one-year’s supply of their product to help her lose weight.
“The only way you can reach your goal of someday winning that Oscar is by being active, fit and most of all, healthy!” the CEO wrote to Sidibe.
The young star has been the focus of much scrutiny regarding her size.
Howard Stern was recently criticized for lashing out about Sibide weight on his radio show. “There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is enormous. Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie.”
Others, including PopEater’s own Rob Shuter, have been kinder when discussing her present opportunities, yet still believe she’ll have hard time getting cast.
“The type of role this girl wants is going to be very hard for her to get,” Shuter told Joy Behar.
As for PopEater readers, 63 percent of over 15K voters don’t think she has a future in Hollywood.

She needs to lose weight for her health.
Sorry to say but she is damaging her health being this size. This if the difference between someone like Jessica Simpson who is not fat but out of shape – (Who is still healthy) and a severly overweight girl.
how do you know Jessica Simpson is out of shape? Have you given her a fitness test? After all, she does box multiple times a week!
How obnoxious these diet companies are, hope she told them where to stick their bloody pills!
Seriously if she wants to lose weight, then her whole lifestyle needs to be overhauled. There is no magic pill or quick fix and these diet companies are just disgraceful in the way their market their products.
completely cosign
First of all, how does anyone know the exact status of her health? Yes people her size are typically unhealthy, but the thing is, you don’t know. The body is flexible and could surprise you.
And why bother saying it as if she’s somehow not aware that her weight may be detrimental to her health? She knows. Her doctor knows. And that’s all of the people who need to know.
That being said, I find it hilarious that a diet pill company is offering health advice to anyone. I hope she passes on that for sure.
And third, I agree that getting future roles will be hard for her. She can only play the overweight black girl, and how many roles call for that?
I think this comment is ignorant.
Like: smoking is bad for you, but hey my body can me flexible and maybe I’ll end up reaching my eighties..
Of course this is bad for her health, have you seen her arms? They are huge..
It’s just sad for her, I can’t imagine she is happy this way.
And why do you think my comment is ignorant? What is ignorant about it? I would really like to hear an explanation for that.
You cannot compare being overweight to smoking. Nicotine and other things found in cigarettes are toxins. There is no flexibility with toxins. Fat isn’t a toxin. There is more flexibility.
People seem to think you can only vary 10 pounds before you’re “unhealthy” either in a too-thin sense or a too-fat sense. No, your body can vary over 70 pounds and anything in that range will be healthy. She could be 50 pounds over her optimal weight…that would put her in the flexible range wouldn’t it?
I’m not saying I know she is healthy. In fact, I think she most likely isn’t. But, I wouldn’t bet my life on it like some of you guys would.
I´d bet my a$$ she is more unhealthy than I am and I smoke about 3-4 ciggies a day.
it’s quite obvious that her weight is at an unhealthy stage…and she by far surpasses the healthy measurement for women’s waist lines that can lead to heart disease
weird i normally like all your comments and agree with what you say
I’m not saying she’s not overweight, I’m saying you cannot tell the status of her health. How is she obviously unhealthy? Is she clutching her heart? Is she showing you her last blood results? Is she shooting insulin? No. All I’m saying is just like people should not assume that anyone underweight is unhealthy, so the same with her.
it’s obviously unhealthy because severe obesity is classified when you reach a BMI of 35 or over…then mobid obesity is classified when you hit BMI of 40.
my guess is she’s some where in between.
it find it hard to believe that any one at this weight could be healthy and even if she doesn’t have health problems now there is no doubt that if she doesn’t shift the weight then she will get them later in life. earlier than most people in fact.
i know i’m being very harsh in critisizing her weight but i’m not trying to be mean.
i actually admire her confidence
You are critizing people for saying she´s overweight, however, you seem to assume all smokers are on the verge of lung cancer or something.
It is not the same smoking 3 cigaretes a day to smoking a pack, like it is not the same to be 10 pounds over your goal weight that being morbidly obese.
All smokers are on the verge of lung disease, whether its lung cancer or COPD. Anytime a person inhales toxins, you are slowing destroying your lungs and the lungs of others around you. I wouldn’t judge someones weight and tell them they are unhealthy when you are also unhealthy.
Paulette, I don’t think anyone who smokes is on the verge of lung cancer.
However, I do understand that every time you smoke, you are inhaling toxins, most of which are not found in the body, not meant to be found in the body, deadly, and are not metabolized adaquately. You cannot tell me that a cigarette does not kill lung cells. You also cannot tell me you don’t build tar on your lungs.
My bf smoked. He never got lung cancer, but a lot of his other health was affected. His breathing capacity. His rest (he had insomnia during the night, lethargy during the day). His diet. His teeth. His nails. Etc.
That’s not really my point. My point is, fat is not a toxin. It’s found in the body, it’s metabolized by the body, and it’s necessary for the body. Therefore, the body is more flexible with excessive amounts of fat..there are mechanisms for the storage of excessive fat for the future, whereas you won’t find the same with contents of a cigarette.
Samsta, I must assume you are able to criticize me because you are the epitome of healthiness. But I honestly doubt it, so your argument is really not very valid, is it?
I am not saying she is unhealthy and I am an example to follow, but implying her weigth is healthy is naive. Now, if you wanna go destroy me cause I smoke 3 ciggies a day but lead otherwise a healthy lifestyle, go do it. Be my guest. Cast the first stone!
epithome*
Obviously her health is in danger due to her weight, but the letter from the diet company is complete bs. I agree with kate, and in addition i really dislike the way the company makes it sound like she needs to get fit and beautiful to be succesfull, rather than getting healthy in order to do that. (I mean making it sound so superficial) If she’s a good actress i think she might have a career ahead of her if she gets down to a bit more standard size, but right now the weight is such an obvious part of her that it would really limit the roles she could do. (I don’t think every actress should be super toned and slim however, for example in UK i think there are a lot more roles where the not so small women and men play normal people with whatever pros and cons, not the “funny fat person” or anything like that.
ok a couple of corrections to my ramble; i think her health is in risk, but i agree that we don’t know if she’s healthy or not at the moment. The company did say the most important thing is to get healthy, but it’s how they said she couldn’t win an oscar without loosing weight. Her options might be limited, but being healthy has nothing to do with winning Oscars, so in my eyes they’re basically saying only a thin enough person is worthy of the prize.
Well, the way they went about it wasn’t the best way. I think they were just trying to make a convincing business pitch ( you need to lose weight, we can help you) but managed to come across very rude. As far as the Oscar comment, I think they were just saying that staying at her current size would damage her health to such a degree that she wouldn’t be able to have a proper longterm acting career. And there’s also the danger of getting typecast.
I just wish she’d take time to settle her weight and get healthy, not skinny but a normal, healthy size.
This has nothing to do with your comment because tl;dr, but I LOVE your username XD
haha thank you xD
I agree, she needs to lose weight. There’s no doubt her self-esteem is admirable, she is a very nice, happy, sweet girl but losing weight for her is not about her confidence or her image, it is truly just about just her health.
she needs to lose weight – end of story. i truly support curves and and a healthy body image – but being that heavy is dangerous. no one wants her to be a size 0 but she should seriously drop 60 to 80 pounds
Please I think she will work, she does need to lose weight and she probably will. All these people saying she won’t get work probably didn’t think she’d get an oscar nod either so they can put away their crystal balls. She has talent unlike most of the young actresses her age who “just haven’t found the right role yet” Or maybe can’t act.
Gabourey will get more work. She has more movies coming out, as Whoopi told “The View” public. And I’m sure that with all this publicity saying that she WON’T get more work, the reverse will happen. More writers will try to come up with roles for her, and I’m sure Tyler Perry will get his hands on her for a family drama or a romantic comedy. She has a future in Hollywood. I don’t doubt that. Yes, the girl is fat. We don’t have to be politically correct on the fact that she should lose weight for her health. It doesn’t matter if right now her body is ok. She is at increased risk for several diseases because of her weight, and when you’re at this weight, the body is OBVIOUSLY trying to overcompensate for all the pressure that’s going on. She may be fine right now, but bottom line is that losing some weight will most likely positively affect her health and lower her risk for certain diseases and disorders. She’ll be lighter on her feet, and I suspect, however only by judging by her neck, that she could very well have sleep apnea. All that weight of your neck against your throat won’t make it easy to sleep. She needs to lose weight for her health, but for her career, I doubt so.
I don’t care how healthy she might be. If you have that much fat you’re putting your life in danger. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that. You’re an idiot if you decide to pick her side on all of this by saying she’s a ‘big’ woman. Kim kardashian is a big woman, this girl is plain fat. Sorry but it’s the truth and it’d be very sad knowing this world has messed up some peoples minds so badly that they think every size is ‘curvy’.
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT! losing weight by pills? yeah.. that won’t work and is unhealthy. She should go on a diet but not start taking some cheap make believe pills. It’s obvious this company just wants to make money by coming over supportive and like they give a damn. They should write Kim a letter, she’s the queen of promoting bullshit.
Oh oh oh! as for the future in hollywood thing.. i’m afraid she doesn’t have it. It’d be great if she did though! But let’s face it.. hollywood is all about looks and weight and she simply does not fit in. She might get a few more roles but that’ll be it.
Everybody needs to stop being so overly sensative. The girl is fat. Not curvy, straight up FAT. Obese at that. A curvy body is NOT the same as an obese body. Maybe she doesn’t have health problems at this moment in time, but her health and life are being put at a lot risk carrying around this much weight. To argue that just because she’s obese doesn’t mean she’ll be unhealthy is ridiculous. Could you smoke ciggs for 30+ years and never get lung cancer? Sure. There are always exceptions, but based on statistics and science the odds are againt you. To be healthy, she needs to lose weight.
She really needs to lose weight. Not because of Not good looking but for her health. I mean, she´s not only out of shape, or a little bit of weight gain, this is- and sorry to say so – overweight, really fat. I think she should find someone who helps her to loose some weight.
Screw the diet pill company, they just want to take credit so they can get more customers.
Pills mean nothing if you’re not going to change your whole lifestyle…and she needs a lifestyle change.
I ADORE Gabby, I think she is a sweet girl. Kudos to her and break into Hollywood, I wish her much future success…but her body is grossly overweight and she looks uncomfortable (and her arms make me want to run and hide).
In regards to her career, let’s face it…she got the role because she fit the bill. Any future roles will be typecast roles. Tyler Perry, huh…yeah, he always has a role for a big stereotypical black woman…I can’t stand him. Not a fan of his minstrel movies. And that’s my Tyler Perry bitch for today.
well i do think she is talented but even with talent hollywood would not accept her because of her size and skin tone. she’s not a size 2 or a kim kardashian as well. but at least she does have confidence and has a great personality. and with tyler perry i happen to like him because he gives many black actors and actresses a chance to shine while hollywood gives them the same, stereotypical roles. i don’t see how any of his work are stereotyping anyone when all you see is positive black people who aren’t gang banging, baby mama drama, ghetto, etc. i say tyler would be calling her soon for his movie one day.
I agree with Kate, Casey, Sidney, Rachel and others.
I don’t like what magazins and companies doing to this girl, who happened to be a human being with feelings.
1. I asking this: If a rol in a movie is about a “big” coloured girl … then on a casting (a producer) will be recruit a white skinny girl?! (it’s a retoric question) Of course not!
2. They say she will never get an other part in a movie. So what? She not helplless and neighter stupid.
She studied psychology at Mercy College, New York City. So … Her life can be turn in other way.
3. Everybody know that a magic diet pill doesn’t exist. (in any case, not without negative repercussions) Because if were exist, everybody take it and nobody would be overweight.
Life it is isn’t about pounds.
Ok! I agree! She is … a little to much.
But how dare they to criticize her like this way in public???
It is humiliating!!!
That I can agree with…but we’re talking about Hollywood. And anyone who wants to be a part of the lime light has to almost expect scrutiny….as if it comes hand-in-hand.
Yes, this is also true!
I couldn’t agree more with what the people above me have said. I also believe that pills have never done anybody any good, as it’s the nature’s course we should follow. Even when we want to loose weight we should do it in a natural manner, by exercising or by having light meals, not by drugging ourselves
If you have talent you can survive in Hollywood, Kathy Bates, Whoopi Goldberg neither one of them fits into a mold and they are both respected Oscar winning actresses, she’ll be fine. She’ll lose the weight. Show me where Megan Fox and Jessica Alba will be 10 years from now with their incredible acting range. Looks are are replaceable talent isn’t.
How rude! Yes, she’s obese and would probably benefit both health- and career-wise* from losing weight. But it’s no one’s business but hers.
*Or maybe Hollywood could cast fat actors in general as something other than pathetic or Jabba the Hutt. Just a suggestion.
I didn’t see “Precious,” but from the interviews I’ve seen Gabby Sidibe seems really nice and fun and I like her! Yes, there’s no denying that she’s heavier than a lot of actresses in Hollywood, but that doesn’t give people a right to make fun of her and be downright cruel!
Also, diet pills? Yeah, that’s healthy…
Maybe she’ll come up with a plan with a nutritionist and a trainer…on her own terms.
She defently needs to loose about 80lbs (at the least) from what I’m estimating, she is in the health risk for a major heart attack! She could still be curvy and healthy but this clearly morbidly obese. There is no way she even falls in the obese category….
She will get more work but she needs to lose weight. She can still love herself being at a lower weight if she can love herself now. This is not her natural size, no one is naturally obese. If she wants to become a successful actress, she needs the energy and health to do so!
I totally agree! No one is born like this, I think it might be the enviroment and people she grew up with – probably greasy foods and such!
I’m probably going to never say this again when it comes to someone being in the limelight because along with the adoration and adulation the scrutiny comes with the territory but LEAVE GABBY ALONE. I’m absolutely tired of people being downright rude and nasty when it comes to her weight . Is she hurting anyone else but herself by being 250 punds and morbidly obese because she is….NOOOOOO. However I can see where some people have alot of concern for her and it doesn’t help that she has an ambivalent downright I dont give a f*ck attitude when it comes to what people say about her thus she is always talking about how confident she is and blah blah blah. My fear is that overweight children look to her as a role model and think that not being healthy is ok. Now back to the subject….people need to stop spewing out their vitriolic venom. I’ve never seen so much resentment or cattiness aimed toward a celebrity towards a celeb since Lindsay Lohan (even though Lindsay brought this upon herself). First Howard Stern then Jamie Fox calling her notorious precious……now this company…….I’m starting to get a little annoyed smh
There’s an interesting post over at the Health Journal Club that makes the case that people should just not eat anything that wasn’t a food 100 years ago. Gets rid of the aspartame, bleached GM flour, high fructose corn syrup garbage they try to pass off as food these days. If interested you can read on it here,
http://healthjournalclub.blogspot.com/2010/01/100-year-diet.html
How hypocritical and ignorant are these people!???? My god … no wonder most of us have low self esteem.
How can they make such a mean judgment to a young girl trying to make her dreams come true… No ones talking about her talent , just her weight this her weight that. people just allow themselves to answer for her , saying :“ oh she will get work … she will loose weight for herself“`…How the hell do you know that? how do you know her eating habits etc. why are u answering fore her!? So she doesnt fit that unhealthy thin hollywood actress mold … Why is everyone so damn rude …. Imagine , getting a friggin` diet company asking to sponsor your volumptious ass! Americaaa , please stop this nonsense ! We are blinding , entertaining , and harming ourselves with these standards of beauty . We`re so careless of the “ big girls“ feelings , or the so called “ anorexic “ …. as long as we get or word in , and we can change those people. Hey it works doesnt it … but at what price?
I think people are actually a little less harsh on larger people than TOO- thin people… hmmm…. Do you think the response would be the same if she was anorexic? Instead of everyone saying “buffering” what they say to spare the girls feelings they would be saying “Eww thats sick – her bones are popping out”…. but really whats the difference either way? We feel sorry and are compasionate towards larger people and want them to get healthy but shouldn’t we be just as kind to people who clearly have anorexic issues? I think a lot of girls on here who say “Oh that girl is effing disgusting cause she’s anorexic looking” might say “Oh this girl is a little curvy and just needs to get on a diet….” There is no difference. Its just odd….
Agreed. People find it a lot easier to be mean to underweight/skinny girls than to overweight girls, and there are a lot less people calling them out on it.
Even if those girls actually suffered from anorexia, a lot of people seem to hate the girls even more, rather than feel sympathy towards them.
I guess you pity only what you can relate to, and a lot of people can’t relate to skinny girls, or people with mental disorders like anorexia.
I partly agree with you and Aims here, people do seem to filter their comments more for the obviously overweight woman than they do with the obviously thin women. BUT, while people may filter their comments more with an obviously overweight woman, the type of woman that gets treated with the same harshness that you say thin women get is the AVERAGE, HEALTHY, but NOT TONED woman.
Fluffykins I actually agree with you. And that’s one thing I don’t understand. But when it’s that level of harshness, it’s directed at people like Kim Karashain, and I really do feel like people just hate her personality moreso than her body.
The world is a cruel place. Why don’t we just say that very skinny women and very overweight women are judged harshly?
I haven’t seen one person calling her perfect, while i do see that every time a severely underweight woman is posted. Maybe some are harsher to extremely skinny women due to the controversy; no need being harsh with this woman: she is fat, she knows it, everyone knows it. And really, Casey, before making assumptions such as more people can relate to fat girls, just take a second to think. You two are not the only thin people commenting on this site.
I’m sorry there’s absolutely no way that you can tell me even though people are less harsh when it comes to people being overweight that overweight people don’t go through alot more as far as people treating them like sh*t because I’ve gone through it. I feel like when it comes to people who are gaunt thin or just very thin in general as to whether they may be anorexic or not unless the person comes out and says it and you’re able to detect the symptoms or signs it is more perception based. Look at the other day at the Naydine Cole post some people were quick to call her anorexic other people like me said let’s not be quick to judge because she might just be putting to much pressure on herself to be thin and if she does have an eating disorder she should get help.I don’t think she has an ed and no I’m not trying to be self righteous or fan air in my direction because I can be very blunt when it comes to body image and what I like and don’t like to the point where maybe I should have chose better word choices. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I’m not the owner or the moderator but I’m surprised this post has turned into who should have the bigger pity party someone who has an ed which I’ve had to deal with from an early age (girls in my 6th grade class were throwing up their food) to someone who is overweight (one week into 7th grade I was being called a fat a**).Both are extremes that people should feel the same amount of concern over. Hope I made sense just trying to relate it to situations around me or that I’ve dealt with. Different strokes for different folks.
Uma, why did you feel the need to bring my own weight/size? I did not mention it, so why did you?
Anyway. I stand by my comment. I’ve been on this website long enough to see that yes, for the most part, there is more empathy towards fat people, and people being called fat when they may just be a little chubby or untoned vs. people who look anorexic, or people who have just lost a little weight.
True, there is no one calling her perfect. But out of the posters who call skinny celebrities perfect, are they not subsequently called stupid, blind, anorexic, etc? And the people who call untoned, maybe chubby celebrities fat, are they not called out on it? But call a size 2 too skinny, a skeleton or a prepubescent boy, and very few people will call you out on it.
My point is simple. Here is an overweight girl, there is no question about it. And for the post part people have been pretty decent..saying she should lose weight for her health, saying her acting skills are great, etc etc. Look at posts where a person is being described as anorexic. Even if the person was in fact suffering anorexia, a lot of the comments are cruel and would only perpetrate the disorder.
I just don’t understand why people can’t be as nice and “concerned” about the supposedly anorexic celebrities as they are of the overweight ones.
lol, oh pity poor you, people call you anorexic. All the research shows overweight people will get paid less, have a harder time getting a job, have less opportunity to find a suitable partner and end up with health issues to boot. But to sit there and whine skinny people are discriminated against is pure illogical fallacy. You want to be discriminated against so you can whine about something. Everyone just has to be a victim.
As an existentialist, I don’t care about people’s choices-it’s your choice. Either you are copping to it or you are foundering in mediocrity like everyone else. I’m not crying for people who overeat or starve themselves intentionally. I don’t care what Gabby does, though logically I deduce from the behavior of people in general that she will not be a popular actress. Most people are into looks. Being popular isn’t everything in life though.
Wait… thats not true, I agree with your statements about larger people having a hard time getting a job and such but its not correct to say that thin people dont get discrimination as well. I know many really thin girls who constantly get picked on because of being too thin. Ever since I was a little girl I was a tom boy with knobby knees and twig arms – I used to get teased for it cause everyone in 7th-8th grade had boobs and I still am tiny…. I agree being obese might be a lot worse tho but you cant say very slim people dont get discrimination.
“but you cant say very slim people dont get discrimination.”
What do you want? A movement? Some kind of grand pity party for yourself? Really, people are dying of starvation, curable diseases and violence and you want some pity because people teased you in the 8th grade?
Come off it. You can’t be that silly. I didn’t even whine when I was fat and people treated me like garbage. I just take them for what they were-Garbage.
i actually agree with you aims. of course thin women would be judged harshly because all you see is their bones sticking out and whatnot. but if a woman is overweight then people would come to her defense and say it’s wrong to pick on her and bad mouth her. yeah it’s wrong but what makes it okay to bash thin women or why can’t they get sympathy for once? it’s a double standard that’s why.
I love Gabourey Sidibe, and I truly believe she’ll get more work. She’s a talented actress and she’s got a positive attitude, so I’ll be cheering he on, the whole way.
She looks bad; i am not going to sugar coat it. But diet pills is just not the way to do it. I always preach about throwing the healthy card so i will not do that. However she should get parts because of her acting skills not her looks. And if maybe that would be the rule in Hollywood there would be less weight issues, especially in the extremely low ranges.
It’s not like there’s a pink elephant in the room and we’re all ignoring it. I think everyone’s well aware that she’s overweight, probably no one more so than her.
But tell me does that give this Howard guy the excuse to throw insults at her? Does being too thin give people an excuse to pick at you? Or too spotty, tall, short, smelly, retarded etc?
No, I don’t think so. So that Howard guy can go shove his comments up his arse.
As for the comments about her future in Hollywood, I guess there is a point that her size may only make her usable for certain roles, as is the case with most actors.
And the diet pill company blatantly see her as a way to market their product. Only lesson my dad ever taught me; nothing comes for free.
I hate it that the media has taught us to think fat=unhealthy! She’s obese, that’s clear, but no-one except herself and her doctor will know if she’s healthy. And I hate that companies and people will be trying to make her lose weight by saying she’s unhealthy, when in fact, she’s fat. You can be in perfect health and obese at the same time, that’s a fact. I just hope the diet companies would let her be, what do they know of her health, they just want to make money.
What a load of crap!
Let her decide!
i think it is very sad, that everyone seems to gossip about her weight. many of you say you cant imagine her being happy with that weight, but this has nothing to do with being skinny or fat. it rather has to do with yourself. i mean there are many thin girls who think they are to fat, which isnt healthy either.
a think those diet pill companies are unbeleiveable. did you know, that most american diet pills arent even allowed in germany because theyd rather harm your body functions than help you lose weight… so why care what kind of advice they give, they want to make money thats all they care about, not about garbourey sidibes weight or health.
i think she did a very good job in the movie precious!
i think it’s not really appropriate of this diet-pills company to tell her that her health is in danger, she need to lose weight, etc
It’s up to her to decide if she needs to lose weight and how it all affects her health.
And while i agree that Howard was too harsh, i can’t help but agree with his words about her chances in hollywood
Honestly, it’s not like she has to lose weight to look like Halle Berry to get that Oscar. But she certainly has to lose some weight, especially off her arms and stomach because those are the areas closest to her heart. Look at Queen Latifah. She’s a big woman but she looks beautiful and strong. When she walks it is clear that her structure supports her weight. Even though she is big, her upper and lower arms are proportionate. But Gabby is way over what her body can manage. She seems to shuffle when she walks as though she has some problem with it, and her arms are not proportionate. She should find that Queen Latifah balance; big and beautiful yet strong and sturdy.
There’s been times when I’ve felt like I wish diet-pill companies would write to me and give me a year’s worth of pills.. saying that, it is pretty much completely insensitive. They do, however, have a point. I don’t have her medical history sat with me as I type this, but I’m fairly sure we can all see that she is not a healthy size, and honestly dieting is the best thing she could do for her health. At the end of the day there is little which is more important to us than our health, and her losing weight need not be for vanity
I wont get involved in the discussion about the actress herself, but i would like to suggest a theory as to why people may thrown harsher comments to thinner women. (just a theory, mind!)
Perhaps it has something to do with this:
People very rarely choose to become overweight or obese.
Yet many ladies actually DO intentionally strive to get thinner, and even underweight.
So maybe this is the rub. Some folks perhaps have developed a slight intolerance towards stick thin celebrities due to the suspicion that they actually chose to be that way.
(I am of course NOT including the illness anorexia here. An eating disorder, to my mind, is something else entirely, but i do think that ‘some’ of these illnesses are at least partially inspired by current media. I myself had an eating disorder, although in my case it was connected to childhood trauma.)
The truth is if she doesn’t lose weight she won’t have a career in Hollywood. The way Howard stern put it was too harsh (he said she was the size of a planet) but his point was true. She is not part of the Hollywood club. Seeing celebs pose in pics with her you can see she is a novelty to them, she is not one of them. I feel bad for her because I don’t think she sees it that way.
She might be talented but there are no roles for someone like her. Tyler Perry might throw her a couple parts but that’s the best she can hope for, then her 15 minutes will be over and she’ll never work again.
If she loses some weight though she still has hope. She doesn’t need to be skinny but if she could get down to he size of queen latifah or Jennifer Hudson she’d probably get some roles.
Hopefully she gets a trainer and a nutritionist and tells that diet pill company to suck it.
Why do people confuse fat and curvy?
Fat and obese people are NOT curvy. Why do these people try and convince everyone they are curvy? Obese is more unhealthy than being underweight.
this girl is overly plump shes probably at risk for a lot of health risks. She needs a good diet and exercise not some diet pill that might give her heart problems
1. I like the fact that she embraces her body.
2. I think curvy is good and healthy, OBESE is not!
3. I have the feeling she will be losing a loooot of weight in the years (1-2) to come.
I wish her all the best! She was AWESOME in Precious!
