Donatella Versace Shares Her Thoughts on “Being Natural”
February 9, 2010 in General by Versus
“I don’t even know what my natural colour is. Natural? What is natural? What is that? I do not believe in totally natural for women. For me, natural has something to do with vegetables.”
… says Donatella in Love Magazine.

first… prbly fifth though. how old isss she?
She’s 54
Haha. Hey, at least she’s honest.
Awesome. At least she’s honest about it, right?
And holy God, what a face!
I usually think of ppl who haven’t undergone plastic surgery as “natural”, that and then maybe i tend to think ppl with loads of fake tan, very drastic hair coloring and a lot of make-up aren’t that natural, but i get her point. She propably has different beauty ideals than i do, just judging from her looks, but i know i’m not any more right than she is.
omg she’s only 54! my mom is that age and looks half this womens age, this lady looks like she’s in he 70′s , i guess natural isn’t all that bad it works for my mom
I think the same, she looks like she’s in her 70′s… Natural would work better: no fake hair, no fake tan, no fake lips…
She is so incredibly ugly.
i concur!
.. That’s kind of sad.
Yeah, and “I don’t believe in natural for WOMEN” come on… not all women have work done, that’s insulting…
Maybe she thinks all should.
Just as all should be skinny…etc
True spoken B.
That’s funny, but I give her props for being truthful. Though with her money, i’d at least expect some better work.
At least she’s honest, but I’d rather being natural and ugly than natural and “beautiful” like her…. At least being natural and ugly is effortless..
Wow. I feel bad for her. She obviously tries but doesn’t realize she is making herself look so much worse than she could.
XD
Actually, I just thought of something.
I kind of agree with her. What IS natural? We’re always striving to have “natural makeup” “natural hair dye” etc etc, but it isn’t actually natural. When someone goes without makeup or let’s their hair gray without dying over it, everyone goes bananas and says they have bad skin or they could use some foundation + concealer + mascara + blush + lip gloss and then they’d be perfect or they should touch up their roots. Being totally natural is pretty much shunned.
Being natural isn’t really being natural anymore. And no, I’m not saying Donatella’s tan, hair, makeup, whatever is natural, I’m talking generally, women and teens aren’t truly natural anymore.
I agree!
Many women tan, color their hair, wear contacts, straighten their hair, shape their brows, wear makeup… those things to me are not natural. Donatella takes it to a higher level, but natural as it relates to women is very rare.
LOL This post made my day!
Oh Donatella……
Obviously you don’t believe in natural…
Look at your ridiculous lips…
And your sun-damaged grandma skin..
Hahahahaha what a beauty!! (LOL)
It’s quite funny but I never really thought about “natural” until this post. What IS natural? I guess to me, natural is soft, tasteful “natural” makeup, or no makeup. Natural would be no fake tanning, extensions, plastic surgery (obvi.), fake eyelashes ect. I think women who are as natural as possible look the absolute prettiest, even HOT!
For example photos of Alessandra on the beach wearing hardly any makeup and messy hair but looking dead sexy, this to me is natural and hot! Much more than being dolled up with a pound of make up, extensions, body slimming pads under dresses, or anything of that sort.
To me, natural is close to what you like when you wake up in the morning but maybe with some light mascara, and some lip balm. I always try to go as natural as possible, some days I definitely need some concealer but when I can help it, natural is the way to go.
Yeah, i agree; and i would also like to add Marissa M; everyone says how her skin is not great but i actually like her because you can see her skin. Is it sun-damaged? Maybe, but she definitely always looks fresh-faced and glowing.
I’m the same as you, i just love the days when i feel confident enough not to beed make-up, to see myself as pretty even though i just crawled out of the bed.
Donatella sure has a point, most women have unnatural stuff on them, but it’s one thing to correct flaws – like my hair, half gray at the age of 23 – but it’s another thing to completely alter yourself and take extreme measures in the name of completely badly understood beauty… my two cents.
I read the tittle and just started laughing.
Thank god it did’nt go in the direction I thought it would. Got to love the brutal honesty
I wouldn’t have expected an answer any different from Mrs.Plastic surgery!
At least she’s truthful.
Still, I can’t imagine how hard it must have been for Allegra to grow up in that family!
‘Not natural’!?
Donatella’s look is more like ‘extraterrestrial.’
She doesn’t believe in ‘totally Earth-like’ for women as that would prevent her from looking like a worn leather couch.
props for being honest and not fake like the other celebrities like demi moore who claim to be natural
She never claimed to see herself “beautiful” at least from this quote, so who knows how she feels about her looks.
She has to fire her hairstylist (she looks like a dog)
and hire a professional trainer to shape her hands
Is her nose broken or sth?
and because of this way of thinking you look the way you look…disgusting!!!
I think what she says is true…most women these days are anything but natural. Make up, hair dye, false lashes, push-up bras, weaves, extensions, veneers, waxing, fake tans, contact lenses, plastic surgery etc all of them are now “normal” and “expected” of women to put on, or else people will jump down their throats and call her an unfeminine slob. When Mo’Nique revealed her hairy legs, everyone goes EWWWW!
And it’s not just “these days” as well. In Europe, women wore corsets and huge hairpieces, powdered their faces with lead, in China women bound their feet, in nearly every ancient civilization, women have been “cheating” with their looks, be it kohl eyeliner, soot on the lashes, wool wigs, henna on the hair and nails etc. Bottom line is, there never was a time when women went completely au naturel, except maybe before civilization. Since only women with well-formed bodies, clear skin and thick hair would be picked for mating, the less-endowed women have to resort to ‘unnatural’ tricks!
oh come on, you are overreacting. I can guarantee i know quite a few people – including myself – who will definitely not put any woman down for not wearing push up bras, fake tan, extensions, fake lashes and so on. On the contrary. A woman has to be clean, put together, fresh, elegant, classy. These stuff make you beautiful, not fake orange tan, fake fishy lips, fake basketball boobs or bleached hair.
she looks like a grandma… an anticommercial for a plastic surgery and tanning salons…
and dying you hair and putting on some lip gloss is not the same as going under a knife… so her thoughts on being natural or not natural is rediciouls…
Maybe she should start looking into the term natural and maybe her face wouldn’t look so mashed.
I don’t get the kudos for her being honest about her surgery. How the hell could she deny it?!
I consider myself to be pretty natural. No surgery, fake tan, or anything like that. I go 90% of the time without any makeup (not that i’m saying makeup is fake) and my hair is natural. Putting braid and twist extensions in my hair is as un-natural as I get. But i’m very lazy so I won’t give myself much applause!
At the end of the day women wear make-up etc to enhance their looks and I don’t consider that un-natural. Afterall, you can use makeup for a ‘clean natural look’ (repeated endless times by Mr Jay on ANTM). I think fake tan, eyelash extensions etc distort looks but then i’d say that’s just looking un-natural.
To me actually being un-natural is when you have surgery.
I don’t agree with her stance but then I don’t expect to. She’s in the glitzy fashion world and i’m in the humble. ‘Naturally’ our stances will differ.
She is only 54 and already looks like this:

wow!
that is awful!
that explains a lot of things!!! She cannot recognize anything natural on her!
