Helen Mirren might not opt to go under the knife herself, but she doesn’t judge her Hollywood cohorts for getting plastic surgery.
“You go, ‘I don’t want to look at that face anymore,’ and I understand that, absolutely,” the actress told British morning show GMTV.
The 64-year-old star added, “I think people should be allowed to do whatever they want to make themselves feel happy.”

There’s only one thing I slightly disagree with, it’s the fact that she says “I think people should be allowed to do whatever they want to make themselves feel happy.” … I’m not so sure it’s a good idea. Of course I’d be the first to advocate this kind of philosophy, but the pb is, to what extent ?
I think all is just a question of moderation. Cause for many things in our society today, many ppl tend to turn to something that make them ”happy” but which is not necessarily healthy … I can’t give examples right now, but I’m sure I’ll get understood. Anyway, just a view point, I sort of felt philosophical tonight ^^
i think you make a great point. its like Heidi Montag… how much surgery is too much and is obsessive? we should love ourselves for our natural characteristics and use procedures as help if we really want them.
Except that Heidi Montag isn’t happy is she. All those surgeries didn’t fill that empty space in her head, or her heart.
You make a good point about Heidi Montag but then, what would you do, ban her from getting more plastic surgery?
What about personal freedom then? Should we be allowed to tell people what to do with their own body?
I think John Stuart Mill made a good argument when he said that people should be allowed to do whatever they want as long as they’re not violating other people’s rights. He also said that most people will typically do the “right” thing because they dont’ want to suffer negative consequences of their actions, like people avoiding them because they’re drunkards.

Although, all the public ridicule that Heidi’s received doesn’t seem to have had any effect on her. Then again, I do understand why she went for all that surgery, and I think, in time, when it all loosens up and looks more natural, she may end up looking better than before.
Well i think she need’s her head checked by a psichiatrist. If he will say she is perfectly healthy and thus making this choices, go ahead; but somehow, i doubt that. Sometimes people need to be protected from themselves, rather than others. Mental disseas are quite serious and out there. Freedom of choice implies having a healthy mind. If your mind is screwed, there is no freedom there involved.

If anyone ever had a problem to define the term “classy” and “lady” then they should look up dear helen. She is such an absolutley amazing woman – stunning even at 64.
An she said exactly what I always say about peoples choices in life. As long as they don’t harm anyone else, for gods sake do whatever makes you happy – To each theire own.
Absolutley adore her !
