January Jones – Thin in Black Jeans
December 9, 2009 in General by Versus

MadMen is not just about voluptuous beauty Christina Hendricks, so it’s about time to feature yet another of the show’s hotties: January Jones. She’s pretty thin, especially in these black pants right here and she’s got something to say about her figure and the expectations of MadMen’s producers (a show which takes place in the 1960’s):
“I got told a couple of days ago that I look too skinny, and I was in trouble. I’m naturally pretty thin, so I’m trying,”
“I eat whatever is at craft services. I’m a big eater. I’m from South Dakota, so meat, potatoes, carbs.”
“They tell us to gain weight, gain weight, gain weight, because they want a soft, voluptuous woman which they were [back then] which is beautiful, as it should be.”
P.S.: I love her feminine outfits on the show!
See the rest after the jump!

Yes, of course, she’s a big eater, bla bla bla -_-
Yeah. That’s what they all say.
actually, my best friend is pretty tall, quite as thin as this and is a big eater too. She loooves sweets. Its entirely possible that january jones is telling the truth.
i looooove her figure! she looks great, but i also understand that during the time period, curvy was looked upon as gorgeous…as it still is, but we tend to see a “skinny” trend going on…i think this will change with time…
but im sorry to say, i don’t see why anybody would want to gain weight…like if you’re at a healthy maintenance weight, why are you gonna overdo it?? i dunno…i guess people are so into “losing weight” that the idea of wanting to “gain weight” seems absurd to me (except in special circumstances yes…)
She looks good. And her dog is soooo cute!
Well, I haven’t seen in my life anyone this thin that would be naturally thin. I hope she’s not a hypocrite…
Talking about 60’s (great show Mad men! Love it!), there were not only voluptuous girls, there were skinny too (Twiggy), but not as much as nowadays.. Anyway, I think Christina Hendricks looks way better than January IMHO. And Christina represents those times more than January.
I have, and the girl’s even thinner. Like, WAY thinner. Runs in her family (they all turn eventually hyperthyroidian), and as a result they’re all 5′8 and 95 pounds.
And yes, I’ve seen the girl eat, and she eats triple what I do. I’m not joking – 3 meals of 3 main courses a meal, 5-6 desserts a day, and snacks in between. And still, if she’s stressed, she manages to lose weight, without wanting to.
And you know what, I don’t envy her. Because of her diet (which is horrible) her bloodwork is of an obese 50 year old. Just because some people have great metabolisms doesn’t mean the food doesn’t damage them just as much as it does to obese people.
Yeah, but I doubt January eats like that. She might be naturally thin, but she still probably diets and resrticts herself food, therefore, she’s even thinner than what she call “natural” so it’s not really natural…
You haven’t seen anyone in your life that is naturally this thin?? Well then you haven’t seen much. I don’t know where you guys come from but you speak of naturally thin girls as if they were as rare as unicorns. Where I live there are plenty of girls as thin as January Jones. There are bigger girls too of course, but I mean if she was walking down the street nobody would be surprised or anything. She looks like a European 34-36, nothing to be surprised about. I can say that I’m naturally about her size and I eat whatever I want, and I know a lot of girls that are a size 34 and aren’t starving themselves. In my experience it is the bigger girls that tend to be on diets.
I more or less ‘ditto’ your post.
That is so true. Evolutionarily speaking, “great metabolisms” (i.e. fast metabolisms) are actually a BAD thing. It means that those of us who have them are like human gas guzzlers.. we eat more because our bodies are wasteful. Further, there are all kinds of problems that go along with digesting all that food.
That said, I usually think Hollywood starlets who claim to be big eaters are full of it.
I think any weight and body type should equal beautiful as long as they are healthy.
I also think it is silly that they chose a slim woman and tell her to stuff her face, when they could have chosen a woman who already fits the image they want for the show. Saves them a lot of time and the actress a lot of stress.
I agree, if they want someone bigger it is totally stupid to pick her. The same goes for when they tell an actress that she needs to be thinner for a role. They should just go with someone else.
Sometimes it’s not the caster’s fault. The actor could have been a different size when they were first cast, and then I think the production is in their rights to request a return to the original size.
That is true and I agree with your point. Though I think in this case, January was not close to looking like Christina Hendricks when they picked her, which is why I found it unreasonable.
If she does gain weight for the show, it doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be “curvy”, she’ll have the same figure just bigger. Yes you can be that thin and its natural. As for eating alot (I’m just like her) its important to know that by doing this and you don’t “gain weight” then you might have a fast metabolism (slows as we age) and/or be skinny-fat if you don’t exercise, which isn’t healthy.
1st) whoowhoo south dakota!
2nd) i don’t think she should bulk up just because she’s on a 60’s show, she has the rest of her career to consider, and we all can’t be super excellent dieters like christian bale, etc.
3rd) there’s no guarantees the extra weight would be flattering to her figure, she might actually be one of those unfortunate people who gain in the stomach or “saddlebag” area instead of her bust or bottom-area. besides, that other girl already has that “niche market” so i think if she did gain, it would just be repetitive. that’s not the most appropriate word, but i hope you get what i’m saying.
Versus, what is her body type? shape?
thankss
I really can’t tell, since there aren’t many available pics.
I’m inclined to say lollipop (Angelina) or column (Gwyneth), but I need to see her in an unphotoshopped bikini
I think she is incredibly beautiful and has a gorgeous body. It’s in proportion to her slender features.
Well i don’t know if she eats “whatever”, but even if she doesn’t it doesn’t equal her starving. Most “naturally” thin people i know just eat enough, but not too much, and they maintain their weight for obvious reasons, not eating too many calories… What makes it natural is they don’t think food all the time and have a somewhat healthy attitude towards it. And some ppl just move around all the time without realising, and it burns surprisingly a lot of calories. I think January looks great, i see no point in trying to make her fuller, the show is accurate enough as is IMO.
i agree january looks great.
Also everyone is different and bodies can be so beautiful at so many different shapes and really eating for health and happiness is the best motto
Another example of how you can be thin and healthy. Good for her, she looks great!
