Hilary Duff in a Bikini!
June 24, 2009 in Celebrity Weight & Measurements, Hilary Duff by Versus

What a nice surprise! Hilary Duff went to the beach and we get to see her in a little black bikini!
Even if she’s gained a little weight in the past few months, Hilary is definitely one healthy-sized girl and this is probably her natural shape and the weight her body wants to be at.
Most sources say that Hilary is 5′2” and she was an estimated 130 pounds at her highest.
So what do you all think of her figure?
P.S.: I like the fact that she doesn’t feel the pressure to be ultra-tanned!

More pictures of Hilary in a bikini after the jump!

sorry but…i don`t like the way she looks…yes..she seems healthy…but she shoul work out a little…
She has some defination but no waist and some cellulite. She just looks like a ‘normal’ girl.
Hey guys- thye no waist wasn’t a critisim- I meant it as an observation- I really like her and think she looks great!
Hey
I am the same type of figure.. is there any way to GET a waist? I’m starting the lemonade diet today because I think I can get one if I lose some weight.. I’m at 155 & 5′9, so maybe at 135 or 130 things will nip in a bit?
Anyone know or have a similar body type?
Hey Alyssa,
I understand your body type. However, I don’t know what the lemonade diet is. I needed to lose weight around my midsection after having a baby and this is what worked for me: lots of cardio, light weights with HIGH repetition, resistance training with bands and a high protein, moderately low carb diet. When I say moderately low carbs, I mean only healthy carbs. NO simple or processed carbs.
This worked REALLY well for me. But, some people are built to have no waist so…you could concentrate on building muscle in your rear to make it appear as if you have a waist.
Good luck!
I’ll check all these out!
Thanks!
sadly theres no way to get a “waist”.. it just depends on your body shape. even overweight girls can have a waist because of their body type. but if you don’t naturally have a waist you can only make your stomach flatter ….i suppose with weight loss and exercise you can tighten up the sides but it wont make the waist to hip ratio much different..but either way with this body type..in my opinion.. thin looks better since we aren’t curvy with extra weight. so thin and straight is better to me! i have the same body type and im a health freak because at 5′6 if i go over 120 my stomach gets a pudge and my upper arms get bigger. i wish i could gain weight on my hips and have a more narrow waist… but you get what you get… and it could be much worse. ohwell
Blargle! I know, I want bigger hips just to give me some shape. I’m pretty sure theres a magic number (you said yours was 120) that you have to stick to to look your best.
Ill see how it goes
Maybe you could try a waist cincher. My friend has a figure similar to Hilary’s but now it’s more of an hourglass. The effects aren’t permanent though.
BTW, from what I have read, you get a waist by doing sit ups with your hands behind your head and when you get to sitting position touch the opposite elbow to the opposite knee. That turning motion is supposed to give you a waist. Or go to a gym and there are machines that do the same thing but work it even harder.
Agreed. I think I saw a lot of that in pilates videos. There must be a way…
I think that by working your obliques you can get your optimum waist- if I work mine I can keep a 35-25-34 ratio but if I don’t my waist will increase by 2″. But that is because of my body shape. You can only improve on what your shape is- Hilary has very narrow hips IMO and would need to drop about 6 ” to gain a waist- I on the other hand have curvy hips that allow my waist to ‘look’ smaller even though there probably is only an inch or so in it KWIM?
WOW. I have the same EXACT stats as you.
Im actually trying to lose like 10 lbs in 2 weeks. which i know isnt healthy, but i have a deadline, and i plan on working out 2 times a day and counting calories. calories in calories out……you lose weight
Good luck! 10 pounds in 2 weeks isn’t too crazy, but make sure you’re not too hard on yourself! I remember when I had a deadline to lose weight, I was way too tough on myself and couldn’t keep it up, resulting in weight gain instead!
Bend over and if a roll of fat appears around your waist area then yes it will definitely get smaller.
If she had some waist, she would look great! But still, she looks very very nice. It’s just her body type that doesn’t “allow” her to have a waist! So, for her body type, nice work Hilary!
I would love to see her sitting down, she looks very toned but I dont know if thats just becuase she is standing up.
I love that people can ’slate’ people that have not waist, its not something people choose or can change.
I think she looks great, alot better than she did when she went super skinny.
And finally someone who has chosen a flattering bikini.
good observation, i think its a flattering bikini on her too
she looks … ok. neither fat, nor thin. she`s got an average body.
she’s not in the best shape she’s ever been, but i still like her figure. she is pretty average-looking, bodywise, right now but is healthy, which is more than can be said about most hollywood starlets starving themselves to fit into size 00 clothes. i definitely like hilary’s figure more now than i did when she was a tiny and skinny size 0.
I think she looks good, and healthy. I actually think she looks better at this weight b/c her face is more filled out an in my opinion, more attractive. I have read articles and stuff attacking her recent weight gain and I think it is ridiculous. When she gets slimmer than this, she is fighting against her natural body type, and I think it is unhealthy and sets a bad example for younger girls who might idolize her from her Disney days.
I liked the Hilary during the “Shape Magazine” days better…
Shape magazine is all photoshop. They all have the same damn abs.
Obviously there was photoshop.
I mean I liked her leaner, fit body circa her Shape Magazine photoshoot, I remember seeing pictures of her on the beach and she definitely had abs.
I don’t know about this, I don’t want to sound bitchy and criticial, but to me she looks chunky. Her stomach looks quite toned but her legs are arms are bigger than I would want for myself. Reminds me of Britney’s body actually.
it’s due to her body type. she’s boyish / v shaped so she gains weight in the arms legs and stomach that gives the illusion that she’s bigger than she really is.
personally, i don’t think this body type can do a bikini much justice but she always looks great in clothes! she looks in good shape and she’s lucky to have the boobs and bum that she has; most girls with her body type aren’t fortunate in those departments!
Maybe, but I still think she would look better slimmer, well in my opinion. If that was a picture of me on the beach, I wouldn’t be happy in all honesty. I feel bitchy saying it, but i’m just not a fan.
“If that was a picture of me on the beach, I wouldn’t be happy in all honesty.”
Why? She looks healthy and in shape. And looks good, even though she doesn’t have the classically desirable “hourglass” shape that I myself have a personal preference for. If you are in shape and healthy, why should it matter, why can’t people accept their bodies even if they aren’t slim and be happy? Read the comments, a lot of people are finding her very attractive and see nothing wrong with how she looks, so what is so bad about her body that it would be something to be unhappy about if it was you?
Because I think she looks chunky. I don’t want to look chunky. Nor do I particularly want the “classically desirable hourglass shape”. Nor do I care what everyone else on here likes.
But she doesn’t look chunky
Just don’t understand the whole “I’m healthy but I hate my body/She’s healthy but I would hate that body” attitude that a lot of people have
You’re kind of assuming she is healthy. I would never comment on someones “health” on here, just what I see. Just because she isn’t emaciated doesn’t automatically make her healthy. I actually said her arms and legs are bigger than I would want, and I wouldn’t be happy. I never used the word hate. Of course I wouldn’t hate that body. I would just lose 10lbs.
I hope I wasn’t coming off as jumping down your throat for your opinion, that wasn’t my intention
Kristy,
My thoughts exactly. This is how I looked right after I had my son and let me tell you, when I saw the pics taken of me in Hawaii, I was not happy at all. It inspired me to get back to my normal weight quickly!
And I feel horrible writing this because I do not want others to jump down my throat. I am definitely all for people having different body types but…
I do think this is her body type and it’s not her fault, but I also think she should maybe change her workouts. She seems to be carrying some extra weight around her midsection, which is not healthy. More cardio, less weights will do the trick.
Honestly, I’d love to be able to gain weight and still be happy with the way I looked, but that’s just not me. In my head I have my preferred shape with little lenience, as soon as put on a few pounds I notice it straight away!
Everyone has their opinion, but it is a bit unfair how like you said, people jump down your throat, just because we’re a bit critical or don’t have the same opinion as them!
Her midsection has that “outward tone” thing goin on, where it looks like she works out but kinda sticks out, maybe because there’s a bit of extra weight on top.
I agree, especially when it comes to gaining a few pounds. I’m the same way.
More cardio less weights is the reason so many women look out of shape.
In some cases, but a person with a larger frame and more skeletal muscle is only going to look bigger on top when adding a lot of weight to their workout routine.
i understand where everyone is coming from. I’m one of those people that thinks all shapes and sizes can look great (except overweight and underweight because they are unhealthy looks) but i cannot deny that i have my preferences as well.
I think that in battling the media’s promotion of super thin beauty ideal we’ve become too harsh on thin women and reluctant to admit it when a woman is overweight.
i’m not referring to duff btw! she’s nowhere near either end of the spectrum.
Thats exactly what I was going to say! It does look a little like Britney’s. I like it though. I wish that every time I gained a few pounds I could still look as fit as they do. Normal people get kind of flabby don’t you think?
Haha, yeah I retain NO tone when I gain! I think she looks toned with just a bit of extra weight over the “top” of the muscle.. if that’s possible!? Haha.
Your exactly right, her bodyfat percentage is just a bit higher than back when she was leaner. She definitely has muscle, there is just fat masking it.
Kristy, everything you said I agree completely 100%
Agreed with Kirsty and Skinny-Fit. Good points!
Sorry I meant Kristy!
Haha no worries, I get Kirsty all the time!
I’m gonna be honest, although I love Hilary, my first impression about these pictures was that she’s gotten quite chunky. However, after looking at them some more, I think she looks pretty good. She’s gained, sure, but she has enough definition and a flat stomach, and I think the fact that she’s so pale makes her look bigger than she would if she were tan.
Also, that being said, she is just a beautiful girl, and is one of the rare Disney child stars who has always stayed classy and just relatable and ordinary. Gotta love her for that.
she’s gained a little bit of weight, but so what? she is still healthy looking, and you can tell she works out as she looks pretty toned to me! Also, I have to agree with an earlier poster that her face looks so much nicer when she’s got some meat on her bones. I always thought she was so cute as Lizzy McGuire and now that she’s back to that weight, she has regained some of that beauty.
I don’t see what anyone would have to complain about here. She’s looking beautiful as usual face-wise, and her body is nice and at a size that suits her really well. And I agree that you just can’t choose whether you have a waist or not.
She looks good, but her body type isn’t very feminine. Yes, she has breasts but doesn’t have a defined waist which could make her figure look more feminine. Anyway, she looks fine the way she is; she should work out more, though.
BTW, her body reminds me Britney Spears a bit.
Hilary has a large body. Her “thin body” is like this that we see in the pictures: with flat stomach, but with no waist and with large legs, but not fat legs…
i just cant help but love her! sure, she has put on a bit of weight, but at least she is toned! and no ce;llulite! she is solid and doesnt look too manly cuz she has boobs and bum! and i also prefer her at this weight cuz she has a bum and boobs and her face is just stunning! she is just gorgeous! when she is too skinny her face looks too gaunt! she cant help not have a waist but she works it well and looks hot =o)
she looks great… love her legs… next to her face they are her strongest asset… yeah, she does not has a waist definition, but she is makin’ the most of her body…
and the fact that she’s not tanned is a major plus and quite refreshing:)
and I seriously doubt she’e even close to 130 lbs…
and since when do people with V shaped bodies gain weight in their legs?
There are diffenrent types of v shapes just as there is different kinds of pear shapes. The different types all have their differences in where people gain weight and some got broader shoulders than others and so on .
Unfortunate body shape. I know she can’t help not having a waist, but makes her whole torso look way worse than it should.
I love this girl. i used to watch lizzy mcguriere (cant spell haa) all the time and it broke my heart in eight grade when i found out she was anorexic. i hope she’s doing better and by the looks of it, she has. She just seems so content and at peace
Versus, do you have any knowledge of her current weight? Is she at her highest now? Perhaps 130lbs?
Hmm… maybe around 125, it’s hard to tell. Anyway, she looks different / slimmer now than she did in her “highest weight days” because she’s more toned. She was 100 at her lowest and 109 when she did this cover – check it out:
http://www.usmagazine.com/how_hilary_stays_in_shape
I know she can’t help it but she definitely has a very manly figure, I wouldn’t want her body, it looks a lot like my boyfriend’s body shape in a lot of these photos (if you stuck breasts on his body). She has a flat bum, big ribcage, big shoulders and a thick waist.
she really strungles with her weight,as she becomes skinny and then curvy again during the years..i think she is very sweet,i love her face, she surely need to lose a little bit and work out but she is sexy being curvy and she has breast now.it’s not healthy to loose and put weight all the time so she should stay somewhere between less curvy than here but not as skinny as she used to be…
She is not curvy. That’s a bodyshape. Hillary doesn’t have it. Curvy implies a waist, she can’t do anything about that as others have already mentioned, but she is simply not curvy. Curvy can be skinny, these two are not opposites and i really can’t understand why ppl treat them like so.
Hilary is absolutely adorable…It’s refreshing to see her healthy and fit…She looks beautiful in her face!!
What a cute bikini!
Some people fluctuate a lot
with their weight.
Not to be mean, but I just don’t like her new look. I think she’ll look better skinny again
You mean when she had an eating disorder?
That’s not good…Its so much better now when shes’s healthy.
She looks toned actually and we need to get this pathetic size 0 trend out of our heads. We do NOT need anymore victoria skeletal beckhams thank you very much.
Amen, Amy
How do you know she had an eating disorder? Was this confirmed? All I can find is her saying the exact opposite.
She said it…
I don’t think anyone is suggesting that she widdle down to a size o. I don’t find that attractive AT ALL, accept for people who are predisposed to being that size. Hillary has larger bones, I don’t think she can get down to that size, nor would I want to feel like she had to. Saying that she could shed a few pounds doesn’t equate to a size 0. That is extreme behavior and I don’t find the Lilos or Victoria’s of the world to be a good example of healthy.
I never said she should become a size zero. Go and have a look at the link posted by versus about Hillary on the cover of US weekly and go and read it! She looked great there, she wasn’t a size zero, and she reached that weight through following a healthy diet. She looks happy, healthy, beaiutiful and she’s obviously proud of what she had accomplished, I mean she’s on the cover, in a bikini, for all to see. It is just my opinion that she looked prettier when she weighed a bit less. Just again, I AM NOT A SIZE ZERO FAN!
This woman’s body is not your commodity. You do not own it. You should not be making statements about it. Her body and your livelihood are not connected in any way, shape or form. Get a new hobby.
Sorry but she looks chunky…looks like she gave up on watching what she eats and working out. She looked WAY better before!
She’s so gorgeous. Perfect body.
I don’t care! well could she have more defined waist, and smaller arms/shoulders? Yes, but nobody is perfect and her power is in her face! She is the nicest cutest celebrety out there so who cares? And I also LOVE the fact she isn’t taned
I have that EXACT body right now and I am really unhappy. No waist, big arms, slight pudge of a stomach, and heavy thighs. Every day is a daily struggle (I also go up and down in weight, like her). I am 5′1 and 113 pounds and I look best at 100 pounds. As long as she is happy though, who are we to say anything? Personally I don’t like her at that weight but she seems content.
Absolutely stunning. Bang on the ideal body shape. You can say she’s chunky, hinting on cellulite and whatever else you want, but she looks great, she certainly isn’t fat. She absolutely rocks a bikini!!!
More like this please!!!!
She looked much better before adding the weight on. Too bad everyone criticized her for being too thin … Poor girls, they try to look good while being healthy, they then get criticized for looking good, then they put on the weight and get criticized again.
Uh, what? If/when she was too thin for her frame, she wasn’t healthy, and how is that good(or even look good) and what’s wrong with criticizing it?
One question: WHY do celebrities wear jewelry while at the beach and pool? I never wear jewelry to the beach aside from my wedding ring, and even then I’m checking it every 5 seconds to make sure it’s still there.
Maybe not the best pic, but I think she looks great here:
http://www.denimology.co.uk/2006/10/sw4.jpg
Really shows in her face. I also don’t think we can be certain of her true body shape. She looks the opposite of broad and large shouldered here.
She looks good and healthy. Sure, she could put on a bit of defintion, but I’m not complaining.
WHY do people complain about Tori’s and Lindsay’s weight and then say that Hilary is chunky? Ughhh. She looks completely healthy and gorgeous! Remember when she was almost anorexic back in 2005? She said she felt pressure to lose weight and then became inseanly skinny. So I really hope that magazines don’t start again with their “Duff puffs up again” articles and just leave her alone. She’s a good role model and seems to be happy with herself…
I like that she doesn’t seem to feel the pressure to be ultra skinny or tanned. I look for pale skinned celebrities for inspiration.
I’m actually really pale myself (but with dark auburn hair not blonde) and I tanned (both real and spray) for a few years, but this last spring break I finally decided that 1) I didn’t like the look on me, 2) sun damage only looks good when you’re young, I don’t want to be leathery when I’m 30 or 40 so I’m done, 3) very fair clear skin is pretty rare and the color of old-world royalty (lol) so I should embrace it and take care of it. I’ll be the envy of all my friend when I’m 40 and look 30 because I gave up sunning and wore SPF 70 everyday!
I am pale also and hate tanning mostly b/c it has become such a trend to be tanned, no matter what it costs you. And i just said no. I’m a brunette with white face and i think it looks nice. Weird, but nice. And yes, i also kind of look for celebrities that are able to show that pale skin is also beautiful.
If she’s happy, great, and she seems to be at a healthy weight. That said, I’m not going to pretend I love her body — I don’t.
I love her, but maybe not so much her body. I think her size is basically okay, far from skinny but not fat, but I have that body type, including the kind of chubby arms and not a very well-defined waist and I don’t like it much personally.
I think it’s ok.
A normal human body.
finaly a hollywood star that isn’t skin and bones and isn’t affraid to show it. She looks great, like a women should look like.
Perhaps right now she’s not in the best shape ever but she’s obviously an endo and works with what she’s got. Being super skinny never suited her.
its sad how some people say “oh she looks like a normal girl” like saying normal is bad :/
me2
I can’t get it
The average american woman is approximately 5′4″ and 142 pounds…she is slimmer than average and she looks fine.
Some people have a very warped perception of what normal is. FYI, the majority of hollywood starlets and fashion models, most of them, are medically underweight.
I would rather see healthy than bony/skinny any day…
That’s just about at the upper limit of normal weight, so i don’t think that it is such a good idea to promote that. We all know that especially models but also other stars are underweight, but promoting overweightness is not the solution. And, fyi, the average American woman does NOT equal the average european/asian/wtv woman
To repeat an older post…
Being thin does not make a person healthier. A heavy person who eats nutritious food and exercises will live longer than a skinny person who doesn’t exercise and doesn’t eat well. Those who are too thin or underweight, should not be assumed to be healthy and to have a longer life. You need a healthy heart. A person who is “larger” and gets regular cardio/aerobic exercise that elevates their pulse is said to be healthier than an underweight person, because that “thinner” person is sedentary and at a greater risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
A new study regarding “who lives longer” began a few years ago when investigators used national data to look at death risks according to body weight. They concluded that, compared with people of NORMAL WEIGHT, the OVERWEIGHT had a DECREASED death risk and the UNDERWEIGHT and OBESE had INCREASED risk.
People who are too thin can be vulnerable to disease because they may have weakened immune systems…underweight and “too thin” women face side effects such as loss of menstrual cycle and decreased bone mass, leading to brittle bones and early signs of osteoporosis, and the others I mentioned in my first post. Women in all actuallity need a certain amount of body fat to maintain hormones. (Fat also absorbs calcium into the bones.)
We as Americans are becoming an unhealthy nation however, look at the serving size you get in every restaurant! it is ridiculous. We need to be more worried about not raising a generation of children who consume to much food, who are unhealthy, and who are not active.
That is why i said that the average American woman might not be the best example to promote. I am not American, i am eastern-european, and obesity has been only showing its fangs for a few years. I know when i was in primary schools there were absolutely no obese children. Sure there were skinnier and chubbier kids, but not obese. Now, just walking down the street, there are so many of them. It’s very sadening, and it’s so hard to find the balance. I myself am rather on the skinny side, but work out and eat healthy and quite balanced food. It it the way i was educated. But the obesity and overweight treats are so much to deal with, i am actually now at my skinniest self since i remember. Just a reaction to seing so many obese people, that literally appeared out of nowhere.
And C3 explained why upper range of healthy/a little over healthy weight is not, actually, a bad thing to promote, especially if they are eating right and exercising. It’s better than promoting thinness just for the sake of “looking” good no matter what. Plus, she said Hilary is below the average in her first post, so she was not, in fact, promoting overweight with her initial comments about Hilary.
Well, Instant, i’m a 22 years old and for me looking good is also important. And i don’t think wanting to stay thin should be looked at as a crime. B/c some of your posts sure suggest so.
Bravo!!!! You hit the nail right on the head C3, wonderful post!
She looks good, but definitely shouldn’t gain any more. She looks cute like this, but god her weight fluctuates a lot!
she looks totally healthy and fine what’s wrong with some people, people hating have issues with themselves
She looks muscular. I really think that one picture where her stomach seems to stick out a bit is probably just a bad pic. you can see she has muscle so the she can suck that in without even thinking about it. Just a brief moment bad pic on that. However, it looks like she focused a lot on the front and not as much on the back. If you are going to get toned, which she deserves a lot of credit for-I don’t have the drive, make sure you work on the areas you can’t see too. I do like her a lot and she looks so much better than when she was anorexic skinny. That made me sad. But, let’s hear from a guy? What does a guy think about it?
FINALLY a picture of a celeb in a bikini that doesn’t depress me for the rest of the week!
so maybe she’s not as in shape or as ridiculously thin as some starlets…i commend her (particularly after getting so scary skinny a few years back) for, from the looks of it, maintaining a weight and physique that allow her to be both healthy AND happy. good for you, hil!
and besides, it’s kinda refreshing to see a celeb who defies that atypical “hollywood going-on-anorexic-with-a-boob-job starlet” look
i think she looks really healthy and fit. not fat at all.. she cant do anythin bout her body shape though. it comes naturally. but at this weight she looks great and happy. i didnt like it too, a few years back, when she was so thin, her face look horsey.
but sincerely i think she have some boob job. before this she had like tiny boobs and now they’re much bigger and a lil too perky. maybe she had them to make her body look more feminine. and for her body type, dont they always have small breast?? wtv it is, i totally love hilary! she’s definitly not the typical overtly-tanned-bitchy-looking-pantiless-skinny-ass-skanky hollywood type
Girl gained some weight, let’s be honest. The fact that she seems to not care and let the paparazzi take pics of her is pretty awesome. Makes her a great role model for young girls. She will always have a gorgeous face! She’s obviously meant to have a bigger body (rememeber the lizzie maguire days?) Despite her weight gain she does seem quite toned, so this is obviously a healthy weight for her. I’m 5′9″ and 116 pounds and most people criticize me saying I look too thin. I have a tiny bone structure and am a triathlete, eating about 2200 calories a day–this is just the weight my body falls around during the tri season. In the winter when I slack off I only really get up to abt 120…its just my body type, like being 130ish and 5′2″ is hilary’s. Everyone is different! Let’s be kind to each other
Remember her in shape? here let me refresh your memory
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KlzpKa8RsKQ/RoLuoEp0BpI/AAAAAAAAAw8/FbNEoo-txKA/s400/hilary-duff-shape-05.jpg
She looked great there, she should go back to that again
I agree. It is obvious that she has picked up weight although you can tell that her natural shape is not skinny. She looked toned and healthy in that Shape link.
SHE IS AWFULLY FAT
oh my god, she has a perfect face! shes beautiful!!
I am THRILLED to see a hollywood starlet looking so… HEALTHY!! she looks like a normal woman, not anorexic and disgusting, she looks like she definitely does exercise. I don’t understand the people who are saying she looks like she should work out more. I wish our standard of beauty were how she is in these pictures.
Yay, finally some normal human again.
She looks healthy, normal and really pretty.
Celebs shouldn’t always look so ultra-thin… there I agree to Jess!
What’s odd is that her BMI says she’s overweight,
which is ridiculous. She looks nice this way.
I think she looks great! She is a good role-model for young girl growing up..showing that you can be 130 lbs…not have a perfect hour glass figure..and have a little cellulite and look fabulous and be successful!
I am 5′2” and 130 pounds currently and i find it a little hurtful when people call people like Hilary, who are the same size as me, fat.
Yes she did look better in the old days, but she looks great now too!
Cut the girl some slack people!
