Meet Miss America 2010: Caressa Cameron

Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron got the Miss America crown at the competition’s finals on Saturday night.Congrats!
She’s 22 years old and 5′4”!
When asked about her thoughts regarding childhood obesity, Caressa answered:
“We need to get our kids back outside, playing with sticks in the street like I did when I was little. Expand your mind, go outside and get to see what this world is like.”

I really like her. I think she looks more real. Some of those girls look like they’ve had alot of work done..but she looks like she hasnt.
The fact that she is a shorter makes it even cooler. So many stunning girls out there miss out just because they arent between 5ft8-6ft

i know! arent the supposed to be ’surgery free’? whenever is see any of these ‘Miss’ contests, including ‘Miss Universe’ they all look quite similar and quite plastic! well ‘all’ is an over-statement! i mean a lot of them do…Jen Hawkins def looked the most natural in her year though. I also never fin d any of them to be particularly ‘beautiful’ or abnormally great!? Though i do often prefere their bodies because a lot of them actually look to be a nice weight, not too thin. Also i am so hapy she is only 5′4!!! YAY! Us shorties can be ‘Miss Universe/ America’ or ‘Miss whatever’s’ too!

It’s Miss America, not Miss USA. The former a scholarship organization with some really accomplished young women (Miss America 2004 went to med school after; some women have passed bills through state legislature, etc.) whereas Miss USA (Trump’s thing) is purely based on looks.
She looks pretty average – cute – but average. I guess that is the idea though…? I seriously do not understand the reasoning behind ‘Miss America’ pageants? What IS the point lol!?

More importantly, I AGREE 100% about what she said about kids being indoors all day, growing like mushrooms- what happened to playing outside?!? No wonder all the kids I see are little chunks!
maegan you read my mind! im not impressed by her looks, but too much makeup so i cant tell what she really looks like and im sure she is pretty. im kinda a snob about tall people having better bodies so i think her body is good “for a short (aka average height) girl”.
but the quote– love it! so true and its what i say all the time about kids these days. im so sick of seeing chubby kids devouring supersized bags of chips and 20ml soda bottles!!
Her face kind of reminds me of Jasmine’s from Aladdin. I’m not really liking her body that much. It’s nice but nothing spectacular.
I agree that we should get our kids outside more. We should spend less time worrying if our kids are gonna have, God forbid, a chocolate bar, and more time worrying about whether or not they’re going to get their 1 hour of exercize a day.

I can’t believe how small-minded these comments are. Jasmine? Disney characters? Rihanna + Beyonce’s lovechild? She doesn’t look like any of those…it’s pretty clear (and sad) that there aren’t enough minority female characters in the world, that we must compare the few to each other…believe it or not, not all brown people look alike.
I’m sorry if it came off as offensive, but she really does look like a real-life Jasmine to me. It’s not because she’s a minority or because I’m close-minded, it’s because she has big oval eyes, the same cheeks, and a pointy chin; she especially looks like a real-life Jasmine in 2nd to last photo. And I mean that completely as a compliment, because I find her face beautiful.
Coming from a biracial woman, I completely agree..I saw the end of the pageant, right before she was crowned and the first thing I thought of was Princess Jasmine, which like you said, is a compliment..she was always my fave Disney Princess!

What can you do against ignorance?
I’m a black woman, and my FIRST thought was: wow, she it’s like they used her as the model for the princess from the Frog Princess. Being that I am a black woman, have sisters that are black women, family that are black women, best friends and nieces that are black women… perhaps that observation was simple due to the fact that they favor eachother and nothing more. Same thing if we saw a white woman that looked like a barbie (big blue eyes, blonde hair), no one would think twice with the comparison.
As a black woman I KNOW we don’t all look alike and I would certainly agree that we are under and misrepresented in the industry (as most minorities), but I mean…seriously.

I had a friend back in the day, we use to call her Pocahontas. She wasn’t Native American, she was actually Laotian but she looked like she stepped straight out of the cartoon. lol So it was not an issue of her race, just that they favored eachother. I think that nickname followed her to this day.

I think she is cute, a breath of fresh air lookswise and she has really pretty eyes. And what she said about kids is perfectly true, when i was in primary school there were no obese children. Just a fe chubby ones but that’s it. That’s because everyone played outside, our parents sent us to the countryside during the holidays, we were extremely active!

OMG I TOTALLY AGREE WITH WHAT A BULLSH* COMPETITION, BUT DAAAAAAYUUUM ALL THESE GIRLS WERE LIKE SUPERSTAR SINGERS OPERA SINGERS AND PRO BALLET DANCERS…REALLY IMPRESSED…not the most beautiful but REEEEEALLY TALENTED!!
