Jessica Simpson Brings the Quotes of the Day
January 19, 2013 in Celebrity Quotes, Jessica Simpson by Versus
On her last pregnancy:
The last time I ate everything in sight. I was really happy to be pregnant and I just didn’t even step on the scale. I was the person who turned around and said, ‘Just don’t tell me, I’m having fun. I ate everything. I didn’t really make any healthy good decisions. I guess I just didn’t realize you could gain that much weight that quickly. I had fun doing it but once I had Maxwell I realized that it all wasn’t water weight and I had to really work hard. In four months I lost over 50 pounds.
… says Jessica, who is now pregnant with her second child.

Lets hope she only gains a sensible amount of weight with this pregnancy! She’s so dumb
I think ‘dumb’ is a bit harsh
But her legs/calves freak me out.. How did they get so big and completely change shape?? I need to know so it never happens to me!! lol
By having her photo taken 1.) at such an angle & 2.) by being BAREFOOT.
I’ve noticed on this site that whenever a female celeb is pictured wearing heels, everyone talks about how slim she is. If she’s wearing flats, everyone comments about how stocky her legs are. lol
There is a reason women – even tall women – insist on wearing heels.
No, Jessica just has huge calves, even in heels. While wearing heels may make a person’s legs look slimmer, I don’t think it’s going to do much if you have big calves like her.
I’ve noticed before that her legs even look big and weirdly shaped in heels though. I think she did some exercise that gained too much calf muscle..? Idk
No she is dumb and I don’t feel bad for her for gaining all of that weight and getting scrutinized. If you think eating buttered poptarts, or whatever the crap she said, is normal to eat when your pregnant then your dumb. Most people say you are suppose to eat what you want and eat for two not gorge yourself on stuff comparable to fried oreos
Ok, there’s no need to try and insult me.. But btw it’s ‘You’re dumb’.
Pregnant women aren’t literally supposed to ‘eat for two’. IMO calling her dumb is harsh because her diet probably wasn’t THAT extreme. I doubt she really ate ‘buttered poptarts’ every single day, I think she even exaggerates but a lot of pregnant women get cravings for crap food. Jessica just probably didn’t work out much and I think she naturally gains a lot during pregnancy. I mean she’s already bigger than average with this new baby right?!
she looks so short in this picture. I suspect shell take advantage of this pregnancy and make more money.
that’s because she is short. she’s only 5’2.
I met her years ago, at z100 jingle ball, and she is quite petite, like 5′. Plus her boyfriend is pretty tall so she looks smaller in comparison lol.
To be fair she is short and having a tall boyfriend doesn’t help. I’m 5ft 1 and my boyfriend is 6ft 2 and I look tiny next to him!
I think the reason why this comment annoyed me (I saw her speak about this during the interview) was because it seems like she completely disregarded that she had a human being growing inside of her which needs proper nutrition!
I agree. Didn’t her doctor tell her that putting on so much weight during pregnancy could be detrimental to her baby’s health
i know! and it’s not just the amount of food, but also the type of food she ate.
i think she just thought “i’m pregnant. that means i get a free pass and get to eat whatever i want”. she should have done her research. i don’t judge pregnant women who indulge occassionally because i don’t personally know how strong the cravings are, but i have read her comments on her pregnancy and it seems to me like she saw it as a “free pass”. personally, i think that made her an irresponsible parent, because during prenancy is really the only time in your life where the type of food you eat greatly affects another human being.
btw, my comment way about the type of food she chose to eat rather than how much she weighed during her pregnancy, just because i don’t actually know what the ideal weight range of a pregnant woman should be
Wow – didn’t know how many high and mighty perfect people there are out there who feel entitled to make a value judgment about other human beings. Disgusting.
you’re being a hypocrite megan.
i never said anyone had to be perfect. “i don’t judge pregnant women who indulge occassionally because i don’t personally know how strong the cravings are”. yes i was judging her, not because she gained weight but because, as i said in my past post, that i felt she saw it as a “free pass” (this is an OPINION i reached, as i read other comments she made about her first prenancy). i started my post with “i think” so that it was obvious that it was an opinion rather than a fact.
why was i being “high and mighty” because i believed that based on the comments she made in the past that she was just using her pregnancy as an excuse to eat
terribly unhealthy food and put her child’s health at risk.
i originally didn’t know a value judgement was so i looked it up online. according to businessdictionary.com it is a “subjective assessment that a behaviour, object, person, principle, etc., is good or bad or something is ought to or not ought to happen. value judgements involve aesthetical, ethical, ideological, moral, theological and other interpretations and cannot be reduced to arguable statements of facts.” (here’s the link http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/value-judgment.html) … absolutely nothing that i said was a value judgement. my comment was about her intentionally being unhealthy without placing any value on her child’s health. that is not a value judgement since it can be “reduced to arguable statements of fact”.
if you don’t like my opinion i.e. that a pregnant woman should watch what she eats because it affects the baby, that’s not my problem. calling me “high and might” “perfect” “disgusting” and saying that i “feel entitled to make value judgements about other human beings” couldn’t be more wrong.
i honestly don’t know what else to say to you, because it genuinely feels like what i wrote in my comments and what you read were two completely different things. maybe you should read over it properly.
also, why did you only comment on this post? other people said much worse things.
p.s. in case anyone reading my posts misinterprets things, i don’t care about the way people treat their bodies. it only bothers me when it affects other people (in this situation, an unborn child).
Actually, we’re not judging their value (as a human being), we are just judging how they look.
@ natalia – i wasn’t talking about her looks. my comments were about her unhealthy eating habits that will be harmful to her child. (this comment kind of sound rude when written down, but i don’t mean it that way at all)
Oh ok, and thanks for that…now I want to read the article to see what she was eating…..
So if I’m understanding this correctly, she assumed that the 70 pounds she had gained, was just water weight? Did she think all the calories she was eating were magically being converted into water once they got into her body? Dear God….
Lol ikr
@megan – why didn’t you respond to my responce? you obviously saw it since it was right above anastasija’s post.
well good for her for realizing she needs to be more healthy this time around! Hopefully she’ll be able to keep things more under control haha
I’m glad she learned a lesson from her over eating and hope she does well this time so people won’t make fun of her so much
Jessica Simpson brings the duuuuh of the day!
I saw this interview on Leno. She is endearingly clueless and blunt really – I can’t hate her! At least she has learned her lesson – I hope so, anyway!
Wow, Jessica, you don’t say. Any more fascinating, earth-shattering revelations for us?
She is so unattractive, just really not good looking at all imo.
I know a lot of you guys are like LOL DUH OBVIOUSLY but for a lot of people nutrition and regular eating are not that easy and take a long time to learn the proper way to do things
True! People here are more clued up about diet and nutrition than the general population at large. Some people, like an overweight girl I know from an overweight family, genuinely had to learn things like basic portion amounts and which foods are high cal vs low cal (like really obvious stuff. As in dominos pizza is half your daily limit almost, she was really shocked to find that out) as adults. She learnt this basic stuff I grew up knowing (healthy parent, good school) as a 25 year old. She is doing great though and is much healthier and lost plenty weight so she is no longer obese so her health isnt at risk due to weight any longer.
Yes!!! Thank you for pointing this out. Some people on here are really judgemental! I have family in a different state who are obese…but they don’t understand proper nutrition because it’s something they weren’t taught. Eating ‘diet’ foods is healthy for them, as is ‘lite’ margarine. They can lose weight (but usually do so through unhealthy methods, such as going to extremes) then they gain it all back again because it’s not something you are just born with knowing. Even me, I was always a very slim (sometimes skinny) person until last year…I NEVER had any idea or interest in proper nutrition because I thought a bit of boiled veg here and there was heathy enough. It’s only now I understand nutrition a lot more due to interest (although we can’t deny all the confusing messages out there!)
That’s true Aafje. I have only started to really learn about nutrition in my late twenties and there were plenty of things I had no idea about that I now think are just ‘common sense’! With Jessica, I think it’s a little more shocking to people that she seems so clueless because we have this idea that celebs all have nutritionists, etc, and basically know all this stuff. Of course, she is just a pretty normal girl and she obviously didn’t come from a family that was conscious of nutrition, like many families.
It’s still a bit stupid to think that the weight you gain while pregnant will somehow just disappear when you give birth – regardless of upbringing or education though! Or that eating absolutely everything you want is not going to result in major weight gain!
Yeah, but this isn’t a matter of proper health/nutrition. No one is asking her to calculate how many calories she needs per day of carbs/proteins/fats for her height, weight, BMI, etc. It’s simple calories in=weight gain. EVERYONE knows that, and if not, well then it’s such common sense that that is quite pathetic.
“I didn’t really make any healthy good decisions. I guess I just didn’t realize you could gain that much weight that quickly. I had fun doing it but once I had Maxwell I realized that it all wasn’t water weight and I had to really work hard. In four months I lost over 50 pounds.”
I mean, really Jessica? You didn’t know eating (copious amounts of) really, really bad food would make you gain weight? And that it wouldn’t “come right off”? That’s a little scary, that is.
No there are actually a good amount of people in the world who literally know almost nothing about nutrition. I have a friend (who is very intelligent and considering attending Princeton) who decided she was only going to eat fruit for two weeks so that she would lose weight because she genuinely thought it was a good, healthy way to do so.
And this is a very intelligent girl. Some people just know nothing about nutrition. I’m assuming Jessica was one of those people.
I’m not talking about nutrition, health benefits, proper amounts of nutrients to eat, etc. I’m talking about WEIGHT GAIN and LOSS. That can not be that hard to comprehend. Excess amounts of crappy food+pregnancy+inactivity= weight gain. Not working your butt off to lose it=no weight loss. Common sense stuff.
Your friend still sounds a lot smarter than Jessica lol. Actually cleanses/detoxes where people eat or drink just 1 food are very common, and I’ve heard all kinds that are dumber than a fruit diet. If your friend added vegetables and lean protein, she would probably lose weight and still be getting the nutrients she needs.
That’s what I thought too serena. At least she knew that eating something healthy would equate some weight loss, regardless of the health aspects. I don’t even think Jessica would have made it that far into the thought process. And those kinds of “cleanse” diets or whatever are common.
….. there is nothing at all smart about an all-fruit diet lol.
1) you are getting nothing but certain vitamins, sugar, and water. This will cause one to feel tired, weak, and irritable
2) there is no way you can consume your necessary daily amount of calories from only eating fruit, so your body will go into starvation mode. You will lose weight during the two week period, but as soon as you start eating normally again you’ll blow up very fast and could potentially gain more weight than you lost, just by eating normally, because your body is in starvation mode.
If she added lean protein and vegetables that would be good… but that’s what she normally eats. I don’t know why she thought cutting them out of her diet would be a good idea.
I feel bad for her first baby
it might have weight problems and the second child might not.
She looks great and obviously she learned from her mistakes. She’s human. You live you learn and her baby is clearly healthy. Good for her.
Dumb as a box of rocks.
I cannot stand her
Neither can I.
I actually kind of believe her. In my first semester of college I put on the “freshmen 15″ so easily that I was shocked. Jessica is kind of dumb, plus she was pregnant, plus she’s from Texas and folks are just bigger down there. I bet she is just very misinformed about diet/nutrition. Weight Watchers is not even a good meal imo but it’s still better than the way a lot of people eat.
Lol I’m from Texas…born and raised…we are NOT all big and we do NOT all think like Miss Simpleton here! Her views on weight/nutrition are so far from my own.
well I’m from Maine, but growing up I always heard “things are bigger in Texas” and that seems to apply to the folks who live there, too. Though I’m sure you’re one of Texas’s smaller residents, lc
Yes that’s true…can’t fault you there! lol
Jessica and her fiance gross me out. They just aren’t good looking at all. Very schlumpy/meh whenever they’re photographed.
It was pretty silly of her to gobble up anything she saw in her first pregnancy. She wouldn’t have gained so much weight if she watched her portions — same goes for people who are obese.
At least she realized the lesson in all this, and hopefully it will be different this time. I would love to see Jessica back to her daisy duke days or at least a little slimmer. But weight watchers is a recipe for disaster.
Why is eating unhealthy always synonymous with “fun” and idea of a good time? Dude, I LOVE eating healthy foods. I don’t understand these people having so much fun by eating donuts. It sounds like she they need a bit more excitement in their lives or something.
From a young age, people are presented with junk food as rewards for good behavior. A lot of people grow up addicted to sugar and not exposed to healthy food that tastes good. Personally I love treats like a slice of pie, but to eat that stuff all day would make me feel sick. I don’t get how Jessica snacked on buttered poptarts and oreos fried in cake batter in her first pregnancy, that sounds so gross. Maybe some people have more of a sweet tooth and can’t help it?
that cracked me up, I pictured little children sitting at Dunkin Donuts, gorging on doughnuts, sitting, eating, squealing w/ joy.
Thanks for thinking only of your own pleasure and not of the health of your unborn child. Because every piece of junk you ate, every chemical you inhaled built her tiny little body and set her up for future health problems. Never before in the history of mankind have people ingested the chemicals found in food today, and we have no idea just how bad the long-term ramifications are going to be. Obviously, we are already seeing the short-term health disablers.
THIS ^
Eating for fun?? Stupid. I hate to eat and cry when I have to eat more when I am so hungry. You should only eat to live.
She is such a pathetic pig.
sounds like a healthy attitude towards food
That comment made me sad, and I really do realize that my comments before about ‘everyone wants to be super model of course are you crzy – liar!’ is probably not good to hear…my family, ppl of work, Russian family/Russian American friends/familly, I live with 7 people, all think my views are normal and are a lot worse, esp. on this site w/ comments than I am, and all think like I do, saying ‘bloody fatty’ and ‘stop eating’ to any who are remotely fat, so, I saymy thoughts so casually, I am used to discussing my thoughts and feelings w/ ppl close to me, in intimate circle, but it’s not good to say on internet and make it black and white in writing (sp?) I am not going to lie and say ah yes overnight I change my views and think that most women are honest about their bodies and what they like, to be honest, I should not try to guess…..I am not in heads of others…so I should just say nothing. this comment really made me see that, somehow I thought this website was tougher, than skinny gossip, no ED and it was safe to say anything, no, if anything this site is good for me, it encourages me to have better diplomacy, where as my personal life encorages me to be blunt almost to the point of rudeness, I see now why ppl were so upset w/ me, I didn’t then, Ihope woman above eats when hungry and not is sad from food, no need to be
She actually looks muuuuch better without make-up on!
I’d be SOOO pissed if I lost all that weight just to get pregnant again right away! She’s probably secretly gleeful that she can eat chicken-fried Snickers and candy-coated cheese doodles again.
She looks pretty even without makeup.
A woman does not have to gain any weight at all during pregnancy, my mom gained like half a kilo. Just an excuse to stuff herself, and is harder on the body afterwards to lose, yoyo, like it matters whether she is thin or fat, she’s still average. yuck
If your mom gained 0.5 kg, that means you + amniotic fluid + placenta weighed 0.5 kg (1 lb) combined. So at birth you would have weighed less than 1 lb, making you extremely premature, probably spending months in the NICU. Is that correct? Or the more likely scenario is that you’re an internet troll who routinely comes to this forum leaving crazy comments that wouldn’t be out of place on a pro-ana site
As usual, the women here sound very…angry….I said ‘women don’t have to gain weight’, the woman herself, I don’t consider the fetus, placenta, fluid what ever else real weight, like muscle or fat, I thought that was obvious. If you consider it real weight, good for you.
And that’s not a crazy comment for pro anna sites, when women like this chubby one up here, talk about losing baby weight, they’re not talking about placenta and fluid…they’re talking about fat. Are they crazy trolls that belong on pro anna sites? Stupid.
Lol I thought you weren’t visiting this site anymore…what happened?
When I work, am not going to school anymore, I don’t even thin of it, I never have time off, but on Sundays, Holidays, I get bored. boredom really
ok.
i lost respect for her….she couldnt even keep a contract up to agreement and she puts people to shame that exercise and eat healthy..she seems lazy and careless
