Jessica Simpson: ‘Yes, I am working out. I always take care of myself’
February 25, 2011 in Celebrity Quotes, Jessica Simpson by Versus
Jessica Simpson has a little quote for you:
“Yes, I am working out, but why is that worth any sorta press? I always take care of myself. Eric and I could get married right now in sweats!â€
… says Jessica on Twitter.

And she is saying this AFTER moths of bingeing and weight gain, but when she all of a sudden starts to work out again, she wants us to believe she aways have working out taking care of herself.
Have been working out and taken care of herself*
I think she used to work out a lot, and she may have started to again, but like you said, I think she took a break from it for quite a while. From most of her comments in the past year, it seems like working out wasn’t much of a priority on her list. Nothing wrong with that, her choice, but to exaggerate like that just shows me how defensive and insecure she still is about her weight. Being comfortable starts with you, not trying to convince us certain things about you.
I have a question…I know that when she was doing Dukes of Hazard she was down to 98 pounds. Now it is being said that she’s close to 150…Personally I think it’s high 140′s. Anyway….My question is when she was in the show Newlyweds, she was a great weight…being 5’3 what do u think she was…like 115 ish?
Thoughts???
she does have quite a chest on her, but I could see that… I’d say anywhere from 115-125 would be a nice “healthy” weight for her…
I remember reading about her weight when she was on Newlyweds and it said 110. Seems about right.
I bet she was closer to 110. I’m also 5’3” and even though I dont have massive boobs like hers when I am 115 I dont look like that. I’m sure 115-125 (my usual weight range) is “healthy” but I still dont look as good as she did on newlyweds.
i don’t think she was ever 98lbs. also her boobs on newlyweds were not that large….maybe a c. go back and look. about ‘dukes’ time she was practically flat chested…i believe she had implants put in after her weight loss to fill in her saggy smaller boobs and now when she gets fat-they look massive. i do believe she is 150lb. don’t believe me-go back and look at pictures…she was super saggy, which is common after weight loss….even if she were to get skinny now they would still be too large because they are now implants-it was a bad choice but sometimes people choose this instead of a lift…..
She definitely had a lift with implant or something, her boobs were very saggy (nothing wrong with it, typical of large breasted women) in maybe 2003-2004 and you can tell they definitely were inflated by the time she did Dukes.
“98 pounds” isn’t from the horse’s mouth, is it? According to a SELF interview she did at the time, she was 110 pounds then at 5’3″.
I don’t think she weighs in any higher than 125 at the most.
YALE? Lol.
my thoughts exactly!!!
+1
I think her fiance went to Yale….
Ahh bless I bet if she went to Yale she’d be in her dorm writing her thesis titled “Is Tuna Of The Sea Fish Or Poultry – Discuss” and her major would be shoes and handbags. She makes me laugh and lord knows she’s worn some pretty awful clothes and to be fair some pretty ones!! But she’s harmless, none offensive and has a head for business so good luck to her.
Head for business? She’s merely the face of an already-manufactured clothing line who *calls* herself a designer. You do know that every face of a clothing line makes the same “I’m a part of every step of the process!” line … right?
It reminds me of Queen Latifah referring to the makeup line she only did commercials & print ads for “my new makeup line.” Uh-huh.
Fiance is a Yalie
hahahahha I thought the same!
Has that been huge news? I’ve seen the pic, but i also keep seeing numerous pics of Zellweger, Biel, Witherspoon and others who workout on a regular basis. It’s nothing new but there’s always the headline of something like “celeb x heading to the gym!”
She looks like a fat slob. sad so sad.:(
remember she looked like this http://www.interoutetv.com/content.asp?ContentID=197
She was emaciated at that point, way under her natural weight.
Under her natural weight, yes. Emaciated? No.
That was mean and unnecessary. She’s not a messy looking person nor is she dirty looking…
I thought she looked amazing here. She may even be around 105 in this picture. It is really sad to look at her now.
LOL at her tan in that picture
Do you know what she had to do to maintain that figure? Go look it up, if you don’t. I personally could never do it.
never ever liked her body, flat ass big boobs, very bad combo no matter how much weight she loses or gains she still has those proportions
its true….she has let herself go and its sad. it happens to the best of us, sucks for her that shes famous and has all of us critiquing her lol
She probably always works out, but working out won’t do anything for your waistline unless you’re dieting too. Sad how you can ruin a decent workout in less than 20 minutes of eating. I don’t want to hate on her because I have problems with eating too much too. Give her a break, she’s only human.
Oh me too! Like that saying, ‘you can’t out exercise a bad diet’. I can definitely eat calories quicker than I can burn them, so yes, while exercise helps fitness and muscle tone (and can keep you in a healthy state of mind), it’s the diet which is key. And I have a problem with that! :/
Well shes overweight but the good thing is shes trying to get back into shape better now than never, She has never been a slob btw she always looks put together unless shes working out but no one looks good after they just got done sweating lol.
It really bothers me that we have such simplistic ideas about body size and weight gain. Most people assume that given the same diet and exercise routine, two people should be identical in size. There is so much we don’t know about the human body; about metabolism and how the body responds to exercise. To assume that everyone should be skinny if they put enough effort into it is naive and somewhat dangerous IMO.
Did it ever occur to you people who call her a ‘fat slob’ that being super skinny just isn’t in the cards for Jessica Simpson. Sure, she was there before, but she has stated numerous times that was not a sustainable weight for her. I’ve seen plenty of pictures of her going to the gym, which lead me to believe she is healthier than 90% of the population which doesn’t regularly work out. bottom line: give the girl a freaking break.
AMEN WELL SAID
exactly! Bodies have set points. If the body is being deprived it will fight back and it becomes an endless cycle. Comparing Jessica to other people especially her sister is absurd. Similar to the ways many women compare themselves to strangers.
Great comment – I think you are 100% correct!
YES, exactly! Thank you! I am so sick of people assuming that because you work out and eat healthy you will be thin. Some people are naturally at a heavier weight, that’s just where they fall, what’s the big deal? As long as it doesn’t bother her, then who cares? No one has a problem understanding every individual has different hair, different noses, etc, but weight seems to be assumed to be cookie cutter; eat healthy and exercise and you’ll be slim? Not always.
Well said indeed! Every body is different. Some gain muscle and lose fat fast, others refuse to budge at all. Some girls need to eat 6 times a day to maintain a weight, others would gain a ton by doing so. We need to figure out what our bodies want and try to work with them instead of against them to keep them as healthy as possible.
Thank you, thank you, THANK you!!! Great comment.
Totally agree with you Mia! There is so much we don’t know about the human body. We all respond differently to exercise, diet, etc…

The general idea of what you’re saying is sort of right, but once you started elaborating you proved that it’s you, not anyone else, who suffers from ignorance on the subjects of human nutrition and metabolism.
No, not everyone can be “skinny” with a reasonable amount of exercise and a healthy diet. But similarly, aside from bodybuilding there’s also no reason (aside from severe metabolic abnormalities) why a 5’3″ woman should weigh 150 pounds.
an ignorant person is one who assumes they can tell another person’s weight simply by looking at a still photograph of them. You better check yourself.
QUESTION ABOUT SKITTLE BODY TYPE…WHAT THE HELL IS IT? I PICTURE IT AS SOMEONE ROUND WITH SKINNY ARMS AND LEGS (LIKE THE M AND M COMMERCIAL HAHA) PLEASE CLARIFY THAT BODY TYPE FOR ME..ANYONE..
skittle = a pear with medium breasts.
THANKS…STILL DONT GET IT THO HAHA BUT THANKS
i also had the impression a skittle might have less hips than a pear but is bottom heavy bc they carry weight in their thighs. Maybe i’m wrong.
hahahhah. like the candy. i woulda never made the association, but i def see where that make sense. a skittle is a game piece that looks like a bowling pin. broad on the bottom, has a long middle/torso and then widens again at the top.
halle berry, crystal renn, and minka kelly are skittles. you got a booty and big thighs with a small waist and medium breasts….shaped like a bowling pin
How did that shape get its name?
In Britain they call bowling pins ‘skittles’
Simpson is definitely not a Skittle. Apple all the way. There are skinny apples, too, by the way. Angelina Jolie & Catherine Zeta-Jones are two examples.
Alot of models tell the press they eat burgers and junk food and rarely work out. Whether or not they do or not it is not a healthy lifestyle to preach about.
And here’s Jessica, who admits herself that her weight flucuates, working out and saying she takes care of herself. So, whether or not that she’s telling the truth she is setting a mich healthier example.
I am disgusted by some of the comments I have read here and on one other site. Saying that she is fat, overweight, ect. Jessica has never been overweight. She has been a UK size 14 at her biggest I would say, And ignorant people saying that that is fat is sickeing, disgracefull. Young girls, or ever woman with their own body image issues reading that, what on earth will they take from that?
AMEN TO THAT!!!! Love Jessica and just love her attitude!!!
amen!
She has recently said that a U.S. size 6 – roughly a U.K. size 10 – is her biggest-ever dress size.
The fake concern for “young girls” is getting irritating. As I said earlier, regardless of what Jessica Simpson considers to be “taking care of herself,” if she’s 150 pounds at 5’3″ and not a bodybuilder, then she is NOT taking care of herself. She either doesn’t have her diet in check or she’s suffering from a metabolic disorder. Maybe what young girls should take from this is that working out will not make up for poor dietary choices, and that your results will tell you if you’re doing it right.
um how do you know that she’s 150? and that’s about 15 pounds overweight. Just did some digging and she had tried Atkins… that’s one way to certainly screw up your metabolism
I completely agree with all the people who have said that maybe being super skinny just isn’t her body type!
I remember watching a special about her on E a longgg time ago. This was probably while she was still filming her newlyweds show and she was on there saying she had always felt pressured to lose weight and maintain a very low weight. She dieted to get down to 97 pounds for a photoshoot. Which leads me to believe that even when she was younger, it wasn’t super easy for her to maintain her weight!
I think she’s a girl with a gorgeous, fresh face. And while I admit she has looked pretty sloppy in the past few weeks (the weight gain just isn’t too flattering for her face), I just don’t think super skinny (although I did loveee her body back in the day) is a realistic or attainable figure for her. Some toning and losing a few pounds will suit her just fine.
Wow linda that was a really ignorant thing to say and really bitchy. U never kno wat ppl r going thro or wat they r dealing with. shes always been beautiful and she can do watever the heck she wants. wat are we her mom? I mean geez who cares. everyone worries about other ppl r doing too much.
@Versus what is my body shape?
my measurements are 32E-27-33 and im 5ft 4 and weigh around 125 pounds.
I hold most of my weight in my boobs, stomach and I have love handles (ewwww) but I am slightly thicker at the top of my thighs. My shoulders are pretty similar broadness to my hips.
Does this make me apple/ lollipop?
xxxxxxxxxxxx
Your description indicates either a lollipop or a goblet. I would say that Brooklyn Decker is a goblet and Angelina Jolie is a lollipop. A classic apple has a big tummy, larger than the breasts, clearly not your case.
Maybe for an overweight Apple. Jolie is a prime example of a thin Apple shape. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1o1b3YpPV_8/TN1u-ySx3pI/AAAAAAAABZ0/Zm546XoD3G4/s400/20100401_063823_Joile_apple_sha.jpg
k im probably lollipop cuz i look similar to that!
wooo i never thought me and angelina would have anything in common!!!!!!!
I think her face looks so cute here.lol
The problem I have with Jessica Simpson is that she is a publicity whore for her weight. She’s always grabbed for headlines based on her weight–when she was super depriving herself on Atkins back in the early 00′s, to her Dukes obsession, through all of the ugly ass clothes she wears that just DO NOT flatter her body type. One minute she’s preaching about being healthy, eating right, exercising–then she gains, and it’s suddenly OMG WHY DO PEOPLE HATE ME, and WE SHOULD ACCEPT OUR BODIES THE WAY THEY ARE!
Like, I don’t disagree with those ideas, but she’s so eager to sell herself out when she’s skinny, but when she gains? It’s the worst thing in the world and how dare the tabs and shit be on her case.
IDK. She makes me grouchy haha
amen!
I thought the sweatshirt said Y’ALL, which would make a lot more sense.
ahahahahaha! that is the best misreading ever
I think Jessica has really backed herself up in a corner. First she got super tiny and rolled around on on a car in a bikini. Then when she gained weight she was upset that people were focusing on her body (which she brought upon herself). Then she decided to show everyone that she was happier being curvy so she had her VH1 show about beauty and body image. Now, as so many brides do, she wants to look good in her dress. That’s understandable but if she loses too much weight it will just make her seem more like a hypocrite. So many women struggle with her weight and I think if she was honest rather than acting as like she is happy at her weight but then turn around and lose weight that people would relate to her more. That is one thing I’ve at least always liked about Oprah, she is honest about it being a struggle.
Agree, it’s definitely made it harder on her!
I feel sorry for her because I know what its like to have issues with your weight and becoming obsessed by it, it’s bad enough she’s in the spotlight and has to hear people calling her fat, that can hurt you so much. Plus, it’s not like she wouldn’t love to be back to her Daisy Duke figure, it just takes time and it can be hard at times with all the pressure on her
While I admit I love her Daisy Duke figure, I understand that’s not natural for her. I do believe she’s working out now, but I think she wasn’t for some time. What I don’t understand though is how people can stand to put on sweatshirts when they are all sweaty. It just seems really gross to me.
omg, her sweatshirt. i get that her fiance went there but LOL
This woman is ridiculous. She is the epitome of having no identity of your own. She morphs to whomever man is currently sleeping with her.
*whatever man
I heard that jessica was 106 pounds in the dukes of hazzard, which sounds about right. during her newlywed days, I’d say she was 115-120 at the MOST. she is only 5″3. I am 5″3.5 and like 115 and I look how she did when she was on newlywed’s (minus her big boobs haha). I think she is currently in the 140-150 range. at my highest, I was 148 and I looked like she does now.
The results are what matter. If she is on a diet and exercising, then she needs to re-evaluate her method because it’s clearly not working. Maybe she’s happy at 150 pounds, in which case, good for her and I don’t care. But don’t try to sell me this BS about how she’s simultaneously overweight (yes, 150 is overweight for a 5’3″ woman, no need to be in denial about it) and “taking care of herself.” She’s not. She may think she is, but she’s mistaken.
Taking care of yourself does not necessarily mean staying at a lower weight! You can be a little overweight – and 150 (we don’t even know if this figure is correct) is a little overweight for her height – and be perfectly healthy.
And taking care of yourself doesn’t just mean physically, she has to think of her emotional well-being too. Obviously the level of dieting and exercise she used to have to endure to stay at her Daisy Duke weight was very stressful for her – that wasn’t taking care of herself either, even if she was physically in peak condition.
Not everyone has to be in peak condition to be happy and healthy – in fact, for many people, the thought of the amount of exercise and diet restriction needed to attain their peak is very unappealing and stressful! I for one would rather be a bit overweight than have to count calories and work out for 1 or 2 hours a day – that to me is not happiness! It is for some people, and good for them, but it’s not for everyone. As long as my weight is not negatively impacting my health or lifestyle, then I’m not going to obsess over it.
To me, she doesn’t look unhealthy or very overweight – and she seems happy with herself – and that means she is “taking care of herself”, imo.
