Jessica Simpson’s Weight Is Mocked by a Cartoon Character
The irony is that Jessica’s weight was mocked in a cartoon that is sponsored by Burger King. Yahoo News reports:
Jessica Simpson is once again under fire for her physique. But this time, it’s not from the tabloids – it’s from the NFL. In a new animated short which aired during “FOX NFL Sunday” on October 11, sponsored by Burger King, cartoon versions of Tony Romo’s teammates and coach take turns taking shots at the quarterback’s ex-girlfriend.
“Man, I still can’t believe Tony dated Jessica Simpson, even after she blew up bigger than Flozell Adams!” an animated version of Cowboys running back Marion Barber says, referring to offensive lineman Adams, who is 6′7″ and 338 pounds.
“Unlike Tony, at least Jessica comes up big when it counts!” the cartoon character said.
A cartoon of Cowboys coach also jumps in on the act, suggesting Jessica could suit up for the team.
“Say Tony, is Jessica around? We could use a defensive tackle!” the character says, referring to a position that typically tips the scales at over 300 pounds.
A spokesperson for FOX issued an apology on Wednesday over the skit.
“Burger King Corp. did not have any editorial input in the creation of the animation that ran last Sunday, and no one from Burger King Corp. approved it before it aired. Upon reflection, our poor attempt at humor was insensitive and we deeply apologize to anyone who might have been offended,” the statement issued to Us Weekly said.
On Wednesday evening, Jessica herself chimed in via her Twitter account.
“i will never understand why people attack for a laugh,” she Tweeted. “own your beauty and don’t listen to the judgement.”

She’s not even overweight
With all the controversy over weight, photoshopping and the size 0 idealism you’d think they would realise mocking a healthy-sized woman, who is generally liked by a lot of people in the world- and who is currently promoting every beauty ideal around the world would be bad press.
I honestly don’t know who would have laughed. She must feel awful right now.

I also agree. She looks like she’s a healthy size. And the camera adds up to fifteen pounds, so she could be thinner in person.
I mean really, Lindsay is getting into Tweet-fights with everyone, Miley just made the lamest rap video and they’re picking on Jessica for not being a size 0 and (was-)dating an NFL player? Really?
This was in very poor taste. It might make sense if she was a whale, but she’s just a little bigger. That hardly seems fair to me. Especially given that most women AND men in America are waaaay bigger than she is.
And that’s a bit much coming from Burger King. They wouldn’t exist if fat people didn’t eat their food.
If she had actually been a whale, would it have been any funnier than it is now? o.o I think it would have been even more offensive if she was in fact big (kicking a person while they’re down and all).
Awful jokes, and I hope Jessica can look past them, but no girl should look at this ad and take it seriously and assume that someone that’s Jessica’s size is actually considered fat. Even at her biggest, she wasn’t fat, just bigger and out of shape. But that’s not automatically fat. This was just an exaggeration for the purpose of comedy and I really hope no girl takes this seriously.
I don’t think it would have been any funnier because I don’t find fat jokes amusing. It certainly would have made more sense to call someone who was actually fat “fat” though.
She may not be the smartest chicken in the hen house, but she has the heart at the right place.

Comedy is about mocking the little and not so little faults we all have, and to exaggerate Jessica’s weight like that is implying that she would’ve lost control at least in some form, and would be on the flobby side. She looks completely healthy and at a good weight, they could just call her an ugly fat woman and it wouldn’t be any less funny, b/c that joke was far from witty. The firm apologized and all, but still it’s annoying. If u miss the boundary on what’s laughable and what’s not by that far, maybe u should think for another job. Some say that ppl are kinder on celebs who are heavier, that skinny girls get a lot of bashing where as meatier ones are praised as role models, but maybe we still need that hyping.. Then again maybe they just really don’t like Jess. Still a lame ass joke.

Jess is beautiful and there is really no sense in doing this to ANYONE!

i feel bad for her : ( i hate her music and i think my 10 year old brother could out smart her.. but thats too intense.. first she gets dumped, then mocked by her weight.. shes not THAT big.. obviously not “dukes of hazard” shape .. but if I remember correctly, she said she basically starved herself and worked out 24-7 to get that way.. thats not a way to live..
They apologize to anyone that might be offended, but they don’t specifically apologize to Jess? Yea, I’ll take that with a grain of salt.

First, I use phrases like “might have” in my apologies when they aren’t sincere and someone is forcing me to apologize, as in it’s “maybe” an apology…but not really.
