Real Kate Versus Photoshopped Kate!
Dear photo editors,
Allow me to ask: Do you love your job so much that you end up doing it (your job, that is) even when it is SO NOT necessary? Like in Kate’s case right here. You see, Kate’s got an amazing body, a body which besides being amazing, is also REAL. I’m not the only one saying so, I’ve got a website called www.skinnyvscurvy.com and my readers are saying the same thing (people, back me up here), while their jaws drop at the sight of Kate’s figure – REAL figure, excuse my repetition.
Also, we would really like to know why you attempted to metamorphose Kate’s hips from convex to concave, why you had to liquify (yes, I know the terms) her (already small) waist into something that would usually require extracting a rib or why you felt the need to take an inch (or two) from her thigh and use the same inch (or two, or three) to extend her legs.
But I guess we should all look at the bright side here: a “Thank You” is in order for not going as dramatic as you did in the “OMG, that’s not her body!”-Jennifer Lopez cover. So thank you, but next time, please don’t equip yourself with as many Photoshop guns tools and start a war with Kate’s (or Jennifer’s / or Mariah’s / or -insert curvy girl’s name- ) curves.
Regards,
Versus
Some more (unneccessarily) photoshopped pics of Kate after the jump!

omg, that was hilarious, Versus!!
Funny, yet sad at the same time, because it’s really sad to see that not even Kate’s body is good enough!!!
It’s not her body anymmore, she’s a pear in real life, for God’s sake!! No pear whatsoever in the photoshopped pictures, she looks like a model, plus her legs are way longer.
All this was not neccessary, it really doesn’t make sense to me.
Thanks, Ulaaa!
LMAO.. so true.. I totally agree with your letter Versus. Did you actually send that to them? because I really think you should hehe.
Thanks for your support, Linda!
No, I didn’t send the letter – that would be really brave though
Maybe in the future we’ll all sign a petition against excessive photoshopping!
count me in, reg. the petition. we’re being duped by these magazines who put a ton of pressure on readers to emulate the unattainable ideal with regards to women’s bodies. shame on them.
Great to have you on board, Mullet!
I actually dont think there was a whole lot of photoshopping done here. Keep in mind that in the above pictures she’s wearing runners and cut off tights which are gonna make her legs appear shorter and curvier than when she’s wearing the sky high platforms and short skirt in the second picture. I think the magazine picture is pretty true to her actual body which is always amazing.
You said it Versus, I couldn’t word it better. Why do mags think we WANT to look at fake “perfection”? Yes, we want to see beautiful women, but they don’t fit in one mold that calls for teensy, unnattainable hips, thighs, waists and mile long legs! She is so beautiful naturally, I wouldn’t have let them do that to my pics if I were Kate….mind you, if I were Kate, I’d be off admiring my bod in a mirror somewhere, not perusing the net.
Thanks for your support, E!
Say NO to photoshop!!
I wonder what Kate’s reaction is to all that photoshopping? Disgusting, to say the least.
haha, at first i misread the title for “fashion and photoshopping”, which i guess would be more applying too
i do work in an ad agency and don’t trust any pic anymore – the times when a pic says more than 1000 words are over.
as for kate, i don’t find her very pretty anyway, but the photoshopping took the last pretty bits of her away..
A professional photographer could probably explain technical details better, but the photos just aren’t that comperable because of lighting and perspective.
1- They were taken from different distances which would make the “real” Kate look heavier;
2- She wore totally different shoes – flats vs PLATFORM heels – and we all know what high heels do to calves and thighs… compare offset of ankles, shoulders and top of head… about the same, which suggests very little stretching of the leg;
3- One’s taken outdoors in direct sun without a filter, the other indoors with bounce flash and different film and probably 2 hours of professional makeup artistry;
4- They’re shot at different times – the “real” photo was, I believe, post preggers – and reflects residual weight gain on a gorgeous frame
So, aside from possibly nip&tucking of her exposed thighs and fiddling with the color saturation, I’m with Susan. Not all that much photoshopping. I just wished a lovely woman like Kate weren’t compelled to fatten her lips with that idiotic collagen.
[...] in a sexy horizontal position or showing off their curves while standing up (they did the same to Kate Beckinsale and to Jessica Alba, so no wonder they extended Hilary’s legs as [...]
not class A hot
shes wearing heals in the photos to the left..whereas shes wearing sneakers in the right pictures..it makes sense if shes a little bit taller..and shes not that much taller at that
anyways she really is tall in real life.. 5′8” around..
If you do send a letter, make sure your grammar is perfect! In this one you used ‘they’re’ when you should have used ‘their’
Oh yes, thanks for pointing it out! I must have been a little dizzy when I wrote that
