Kate Moss Brings the Quote(s) of the Day
November 15, 2009 in Hot Models, Kate Moss by Versus

At age 35, Kate Moss has a lengthy list of accomplishments to her name: supermodel, designer, perfume-maker, hair-care-product-creator, singer and mother. So what kinds of sayings does she remember in order to achieve success?
“There are loads,” Moss told WWD. “There’s ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.’ That’s one of them.” But at least she showed a hint of humanity, adding, “You try and remember, but it never works.”
Moss also talked about her mentors, namely her trusted friends who tell her “Oh no, Kate, that’s not a good look.” But she knows that beauty comes from the inside:
“It sounds really corny, but I think that if you’re beautiful inside, it shows on the outside for sure. You can be a pretty face, but if you’re not a nice person, it just doesn’t work. I’m not traditionally a beauty, but apparently people think I’m all right. If you’re a nice person, it definitely helps.”
… says Kate in Huffington Post.
Anyone agrees / follows Kate’s motto?

‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.’ – sounds very pro-ana to me…
agree…
That’s what popped in my head as soon as I read that.
wow definitely pro-ana.
kinda can’t believe she said that… kinda.
It’s on most if not all pro-ana websites. I can’t believe she said that!!
i thought the same thing. [it sounding pro-ana]. i just stared at the words and smh
I agree, you will find that quote plastered everywhere on any pro ana/mia site.
what a great mind…¬¬
If the most important thing is to be beautiful inside, her motto wouldn’t be about skinniness but about reading books or something like that.
I agree, but unfortunately in our society you get very little reward for being beautiful on the inside
I think I’ve just lost a few IQ points.
lol
Ah, the pro-ana mantra.
Then again, Kate doesn’t come across as a bright one, so who knows what she meant by it.
Kate Moss used to be the poster girl for pro ana on all the websites.
I don’t think Kate’s pro-ana or perpetrating the pro-ana movement. I’ve found that pro-ana sites will grasp at straws for support and inspiration, and will take ordinary quotes and turn them into support for ultra thin figures. Hell, they took extreme photoshopped images that were intended to show that anorexia wasn’t attractive and used it as inspiration, so…
Kate is absolutely beautiful. She appears to be a very down to Earth person considering her success. And I think her second quote, which no one mentioned, is true. You can be as beautiful as you like but if you’re a b**** you’re going to be labeled as the b**** not the beauty.
I agree Casey- 100%!
i saw a documentary of sort when she was doing the grand opening of her fashion line at topshop new york and surprisingly she appears to be genuine and nice. down to earth i say.
But surely Kate should be aware, being in the model world (which is at least partly responsible, arguably, for a lot of the media’s obsession with thiness) about the implications of what comes out of her mouth.
It’s her responsibility as a so-called supermodel to act responsibly, and quoting something that appears on so many pro-ana websites (whether or not they misappropriate the saying) is outright neglectful on her part. I believe she doesn’t know/ doesn’t care.
I think in this case she could have worded what she said much better but I guess she didn’t care. I think she was joking, especially since she said “it never works” right after saying that, but maybe it was a tasteless joke considering she is the first waif supermodel.
However, I don’t think a supermodel or any celebrity is always responsible for how the things they say are interpreted. Like I said, pro-ana sites cling to “inspiration” and take things out of context. You can’t always predict how people will twist your words to fit their agenda. I’ve seen the same quote being used as motivation by obese individuals to become a healthy weight. Just because anorexics use that quote doesn’t mean it’s inherently bad. Nor does it mean that it is causing anorexia…anorexia causes anorexia. The use of that quote as “inspiration” is just a result of a disorder that already exists.
what’s up with stupid azz quotes from famous people? We get bombarded with them every day, isn’t there anyone with like 2 grams of brain? Sometimes they are so stupid I’m seriously having hard time beliving they actually said that, don’t they have a team of people for PR?
Dear Kate,
Have you ever had peanut butter? Your quote is clearly FALSE.
Love,
B
Yup, peanut butter is the sh*t!!!
Then, I thought she was giving examples of quotes that she used to hear or was encouraged to use, rather than her actually giving it out herself as advice.
Reese’s Cups, ftw.
Wait, Kate Moss is/was a singer?
Yeah but how many times have you had something very good and then felt bad about eating too much of it and said you needed to loose weight? She`s right in some way…
Eating is a wonderful and sensuous and experience that should be enjoyed. Feeling beautiful in one’s body is important as well.
I can’t help but wonder — has Kate Moss ever heard of exercise? Or balanced meals?
One can enjoy food AND remain fit.
It simply a matter of respecting one’s body.
You took the words out of my mouth. Great comment. Great perspective on life.
“Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.”
I.LOVE.IT.!
I’m far from being pro-ana or anything of the sort, however, this quote will def be my holiday season motivational reminder to pass on the cakes & pies….
I agree with Kate, as a woman that has struggled with her weight and has kept a fit and stable weight for over 2 years after having my daughter, she is right. The feeling of putting on skinny jeans and shirts and trying on cute outfits to go out into the world for me is way more satisfying than eating chips and dip. A stupid statement honestly, they aren’t even in the same category….
Well, being skinny feels great, i admit. I was always normal, for one year however i’ve been skinny. But still i like food and i love tasty food. And i will never say omg no chocolate for one year cause i will put a lb on. Please. BALANCE!!
Why are you all chastising her comment, she’s a supermodel! Her earns a livling essentially out of being rail thin. If someone other than a supermodel made such a bold statement they would deserve harsh feedback, but I love her honesty here.
“You try and remember, but it never works.”
why is everyone attacking her ?
She is already saying it never works.
Besides,I agree. The satisfaction that the food gives me..no matter how yummy..is nothing compared with the feeling of hotness..
I completely agree. It sounds like they were specifically asking her for sayings or motivation to stay thin, and she was simply answering the question. Then they twist it around to try to make it sound like she is an crazy anorexic diva. I actually am starting to feel bad for celebrities more and more (although I am still envious of how much they get paid) because they are so frequently taken out of context in order to make headlines or for someone to prove a point.
Most models should be seen and not heard. Kate is no exception.
She does look pretty awesome in this outfit, I have to admit.
I am 5′3” and 130 pounds but i wanna be 105 pounds, when i read what Kate said, i thought”That’s it, it must be my motto.” Actually this is the most motivating thing i heard when trying to lose weight. Of course, i don’t mean eating nothing. I agree that we should balance the diet and the exersize, but now, whenever i want to eat something like chocolate or fast food, i remember what Kate said.
Pffft.
No amount of skinniness will make you happy, enjoy your body, it’s the best tool you’ll ever have.
Sharing a delicious meal with family or the one you love feels infinitely better to me than feeling skinny.
i bet you weigh about 200lbs.
frsrsly?
I’m sure you would like that, but unfortunately I manage to have both a healthy relationship with food as well as a slim figure and healthy weight.
I find it’s much better to enjoy life by spending quality time with friends, family, and my boyfriend rather than starving myself and obsessing over my weight (but apparently you derive your pleasure through posting silly put-downs in the comments sections of celebrity blogs you probably spend half of your day drooling over).
Ailani, let’s not make such assumptions, they are not appropriate – you really have no reason to do that, since Christina said something that sounds really reasonable.
I don’t see any reason why someone couldn’t enjoy food and family dinners and stay slim at the same time.
Why did Kate say it?
It’s one HELL of a soundbite.
She KNEW all the Media would pick up on it and she’d be Front Page News (again).
Does she believe it?
Probably not.
Does Kate CARE what people will say about her?
Doubtful.
