DWTS Celebs Reveal Their Body Secrets

Life&Style has all the details:
Karina Smirnoff tells Life & Style. “The dancing is the diet, but everyone is different. So if celebrities really want to get the most out of the experience, they implement a healthy diet full of protein.”
KARINA PACKS HER DIET WITH FRUITS AND VEGGIES
Professional dancer Karina Smirnoff, 31, is a svelte 110 pounds, but even she has to tweak her diet to get into top TV shape. The 5-foot-5 dancer tells Life & Style she typically has egg whites with spinach and tomato for breakfast, fruit for lunch, and salad and fish for dinner. But her best diet advice? “Listen to your body,” she says. “There are foods that your system will digest easily and others it will struggle with. Of course, fruits and veggies are always good.”
KELLY FINALLY DROPS THE POUNDS
Fan favorite Kelly Osbourne, 24, says that after years of yoyo dieting, dancing has been the only healthy way she’s been able to lose weight. “I do five hours of rehearsals a day — sometimes even six,” she told Life & Style at the 7th Annual Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party on Sept. 26. The 5-foot-3 star lost 14 pounds in the first six weeks of rehearsals; since then, she’s lost even more inches. “My body is completely changing; I’m getting really small in places where I’ve never been that small before!” Kelly says. “Kelly has cut out late-night snacking,” an insider tells Life & Style. She also drinks six glasses of water a day.
MYA ADDS MUSCLE MASS
Mya, 30, has slimmed down — and toned up! “I lost 11 pounds in four weeks,” the 5-foot-5½ contestant told Life & Style at a Humane Society event in LA on Sept. 22. And the singer continues to keep off the weight with occasional twice-daily runs that speed up the metabolism. “My body has gotten more toned,” she told Life & Style at the beginning of rehearsal. “I’m seeing a lot more definition, especially in my arms.”
DEBI FILLS UP ON H2O
“I’ve lost 11 pounds, and I’ve noticed my body toning in weird areas,” Debi Mazar, 45, tells Life & Style. Thanks to five-day-a-week rehearsals — and in spite of a torn neck muscle — she even notes, “My bra bulge is gone!” The 5-foot-5 actress and cooking-show co-host keeps her energy up with homemade lunches of pasta, fruit and even chocolate, plus “tons of water.” Staying hydrated helps prevent fatigue so you can get through your workout.

Amazing bod. I wish I were so disciplined.
It’s all to do with the dancing. If you danced over 20 hours a week you’d probably have a body like that too. Dancing is incredible for your body – like swimming.
LOL! I’m just picturing myself dancing. I’m sure your right. I’m working out tonight FOR SURE! I’ll save the dancing to people w/ some talent though.
Haha Mya “toned her arms” by dancing? Ummm ok. I’m sure she did lose body fat all over, however, good for her.
i find it interesting that karina smirnoff said that certain foods are harder to digest than others, but fruits and veggies are always good.. actually fruits and veggies can be the hardest thing to digest (that’s why they’re slimming.. foods like celery actually burn calories because they’re harder to process)
that’s not always a good thing. you can really hurt your stomach if you eat too much green (most people don’t, but hey). and it causes gas ew.
and who eats just fruit for lunch after dancing all day? please.
Agreed…I thought the comment about eating fruit for lunch was hilarious. Her diet doesn’t sound very filling does it?!
Forget about filling, it sounds like she’s starving, unless she eats COPIOUS amounts of fish and egg whites.
Egg whites are notoriously low in cals, and fish is the same. She sounds like she eats too little fat, and not enough protein on top of that. Dancers require a LOT more protein then normal people.
I haven’t danced proffesionally, but just by clubbing 2-3 times a week, and I can down 3000 calories and STILL lose weight. (her height, 4 pounds more then her).
So she’s either lying, or she failed to mention 2-3 meals she also eats.
she’s lying for sure. they all do. i am her height and weight and here is my diet:
BREAKFAST: usually nothing (i know, horrible..but i get sick in the morning) sometimes an odwalla shake if i have money
LUNCH: carb city! yesterday i just ate a big bowl of noodles with smart balance spread. sometimes i’ll eat a sandwich..
SNACK: veggie chips.
DINNER: HUGE. last night we had steak and spinach (they have these delicious pre-prepared meals at publix you just put in the oven.. surprisingly affordable) with tomato slices and corn.
…and then i ate a bunch of candy. what i’m trying to say, i guess, is that skinny people are sometimes just skinny people. we’re not necessarily healthier than anyone else, but for some reason, celebrities like to promote the “nothing” diet when you know they’re totally binging at in-and-out burger.. blah.
I was being sarcastic with my “filling diet” comment. I think those are examples of what she eats. I eat those things too but there’s no way that she exists on this type of diet with the amount of exercise she does. Otherwise, she would be in severe calorie deficit!
so basically Karina eats less than 1000 calories a day and works out hours per day. I don’t know if I should be grateful that she was actually honest with us or worry for her and the impressionable teenage girls who will be reading this article. Plus, at 5′5 110 pounds her BMI is 18.3 which is underweight.
I haven’t seen the show but at least in pics she doesn’t seem anywhere near BMI 18.3. I’ve always concidered her to have a “dancer body”, muscular and toned but not that skinny (slim though). It’s hard for me to believe she’d be starving herself, but maybe it’s just the diet she has on TV so she can ditch some “extra” pounds she has in real life.
Her diet can’t be right at all, its scary that she would eat so little and do so much working out, just because she’s eating lots of ‘fruit and vegies’ doesn’t mean she’s at all getting the nutrients she needs for such a workout schedule
AGREED.
You shoul not eat like that and dance so many hours (I´m a prfesional dancer)… Unlelss you want to be tired and hungry all the time and willing to risk the integrity of your body, which most dancers do anyway, specially ballerinas… As a dancer one should eat and train your body in order for it to be able to DO certain things, not to LOOK a certain way, sometimes body would look great sometimes won´t so much. I know dancers who train for hours and eat right and are still a little overweight or not so muscular… but sill terrific dancers
Yeah, I think Karina’s lying. Her egg-white omelet, fruit, and salad/fish diet adds up to about 600 calories, unless she’s eating enormous portions. If she really ate only 600 calories a day, she’d be losing weight like crazy. If she’s staying the same weight, then she must be referring to her “ideal” diet, when she doesn’t “cheat.”
SHE LOOKS FINE, BUT NOTHING SPECIAL.. MAYBE YOU SHOULD ASK ANGELINE JOLIE OR NICOLE KIDMAN, INSTEAD OF KARINA.
i feel like a ‘tard for saying this, but i’m really proud for kelly osborne. she’s struggled to get down to this “ideal shape” for as long as she’s been in the spotlight. losing and gaining and losing and gaining… and now she’s finally getting there! i don’t think she’s going to maintain her lowest results for very long after the show ends. but still… good for her!
There are no carbs in her diet. That’ s why she looks older than her age. I don’t know her cause I live in Europe, but I was socked when I read 31.
If she works out so much, she should definitly put some more carbs in her diet.
