Lauren Conrad: Her Diet and Her “Boyfriend Layer”

Lauren Conrad is the new celeb in a bikini on the cover of Shape Magazine – she looks great and she shares some of her tips:
Despite her hectic lifestyle, Lauren’s been eating healthier than ever before. She’s gone from calorie counting to a more flexible approach: She gets plenty of fruit, like watermelon and grapefruit; organic salad greens; and lean protein, like turkey, tuna, and beans. “I’ve found when all I’m eating is really fresh, healthy foods, I stop craving pizza and burgers,” she says. Lauren’s even switched to super nutritious nibbles (what she calls “snack plates”): hummus, sliced turkey, cucumbers, and apples. “When I have these foods in front of me, I find it easier to avoid high-calorie binges,” she says.
One of the best things to happen to Lauren this year was starting a relationship with actor Kyle Howard. But after just a few months of dating, Lauren found she was getting soft around her middle. “I call it the ‘boyfriend layer,’” she says, laughing. “We were having more romantic dinners out, and I was exercising less.” To get back on track, the couple started working out together. “We like doing outdoor stuff: tennis, bike riding, kayaking, stand-up surfing, hiking in the canyons around L.A.,” says Lauren. “I just ask Kyle, ‘You feel like working out?’ It’s more fun than hitting the gym alone.”

That’s a really nice approach either it’s real or not.
her body looks just great!!! but.. i don’t realy like her face..
i lov heeer! shes just soo down to earth without being trashy…and she looks healthy too… i mean i think shes naturally thin..THIS is what you can say its naturally thin not those stick girls who look like they havent eaten in years and when ppl say theyre too skinny they come up with “im just naturally thin..” bullshit….Well ithink she has a grat body not too thin is like with a little exercise she gets toned in a really soft cute way.
btw im like obsessed with this now…but what type of body is she? is there like a website i can visit to know how the different types are and the downsides of each clothes they should wear etc..?
Lauren is a pear.
I love lauren but I think it looks so photoshopped. Her skin looks weird, and her face look different.
if you saw the actual filming of the photo shoot you’d notice she looks even better on tv than on the actual mag. Her body really does look that great- the reason why you think her face looks diff is bc she’s actually lost a bit of weight and is looking a bit more bony than usual. The body however, great.
no that is not at all why I think she looks weird. And I have seen her on tv, and I still don’t think she looks the same as she normally does.
She looks pretty good overall except for that bit of lower back fat.
What are you talking about? You can’t see any back fat from this angle, and I doubt she has any.
It is called ‘flank’ and I can see where it is bulging over her left index finger where her hand is placed on her hip.
err no. that’s her bone. believe me, my upper body shape is quite like that, except I’m skinnier, and the spot you were talking about is where I have my bone, covered by just skin.
even if she did have fat there, what’s so bad about it? people, and especially women, need to have some fat on their bodies to be healthy, so what’s the big deal?
I think she’s in fantastic shape…and it’s about time for you to try and overcome your obsession.
Anabel, first off, I know EXACTLY what I’m talking about as my husband is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Secondly, I was merely pointing out what I observed about her physique (which, in my opinion, that I AM entitled to, could be better). And lastly, you are in no position to speculate whether or not I have a body obsession. BTW, I’m approx. ten to fifteen lbs. thinner than she is and I am at less than ten percent body fat and a solid slab of muscle due to the fact that I’m a marathon runner! Don’t judge me honey.
If you tell us you are aprox 10 to 15 lbs thinner than she is and at less than 10% body fat (which is very unhealthy for women, btw…do you even menstruate still?), then I think we are in a proper position to assume that you DO have a body obsession. Lauren is thin already and has a BMI of about 19, so if you are 10 – 15 lbs less than she is at the same height, what is your BMI…17? That’s called anorexia.
Valentina: YOU said you were 140 lbs and now you say you are 10-15 lbs thiner than Lauren – who is no way more than 120-125 lbs. Make up your mind, your lies are confusing you
@ Uma
I thought that in an earlier post she said she’s 104 lbs!
Uh, there is nothing bulging over her left index finger o.O And less than 10% body fat is a bit low for a woman, isn’t it?
Oh wow, less than 10% body fat? Tom Venuto claims to have approximately 9% body fat off season, and considering how it looks on him, I am seriously intrigued to see how it looks on a woman.
Your comment really made me laugh. I mean come on, this woman is really skinny! She looks amazing. How can you tell she has back fat?! Ha ha ha ha ha. I’m sure she wouldn’t be posing on the cover of shape magazine is she was considered fat.
Agreed. I never comment but some people on this site shock me. I am a certified personal trainer and look very defined and toned at around 15-17 % body fat. Even if what you are saying is true and you got measured with an accurate mean, women that compete in fitness competitions lower their body fat to 6-10 % IN SEASON. Not the most attractive look for a woman in my opinion anyway, even though I respect their efforts and commitment. Anyway I ve seen you comment on other posts Valentina and you have a really skewed perception of reality and body image. I hope you deal with your issues. Most people that are not professional athletes should just focus on eating healthy and exercising regularly and it seems that Lauren does that and looks great. It is great if you are a long distance runner and have a very low body fat percentage but that does not mean it is ideal and that does not mean anyone with more fat then you is out of shape or needs to lose weight.
Again, I have the right to maintain my OPINION of what I find physically appealing. Everybody gang up on the extremely fit person (me)???
I have nothing against your opinion or the fact that you are fit ( As I told you, I am a fitness freak myself and it is also my job). I just find that you are exaggerating and focusing on a tiny tiny detail that I frankly dont even see could signal that you have an unhealthy obsession. I dont know you of course so only you know that, but I just hope you learn how to appreciate different body types a little bit more. Lauren doesnt necessarily have the body I consider ideal neither, but this website has actually taught me to relax a bit and appreciate different shapes. You see, since fitness is a huge part of my life, I kinda have higher standards about looks too meaning that I appreciate a women with a very toned body because I work hard for mine and love it. But I noticed beeing so nitpicky makes me come off as bitchy, and not everyone is a personal trainer or an athlete. Lauren is in pretty good shape compared to some celebrities that are “skinny fat” which actually annoys me way more than a little bit of “back fat” which again I dont see what you are talking about. If you are so rigid with your preferences , you could end up unhappy.
Having an opinion is fine, but when you start throwing out things that aren’t necessarily true(i.e. saying someone like LC has back fat, and bulging bits when they aren’t there), what do you expect would happen?
Um, ‘personal trainer’ person…my grandfather, father, both brothers, husband and coach are all MEDICAL doctors. I, therefore, can safely say that I am in the midst and in the care of MEDICAL professionals who are actually qualified to make an accurate MEDICAL assement of my physical condition. I am a natural ectomorph (look it up people) a HIGHLY trained athlete and am regularly subjected to stringent MEDICAL testing/evaluation. ‘Trainers’ are a dime a dozen, you do not have the education to evaluate me….so save your non-medical opinions for your clients.
Well maybe you should get some psychological help too by the way you are reacting…I didnt attack you neither said you were unhealthy neither evaluated you or compared my knowledge to a doctors. I just said you pinpointed some tiny ridiculous detail that no one else but you sees. Which could signal you have some issues. And thats my personal opinion, not my professional one, since I only had good things to say about the fact that you are a long distance runner and that you happen to have a very low body fat percentage. So get over yourself.
Anonymous, leave her alone. You don’t need this, it’s just useless.
never thought i’d see lauren conrad go for something as stupid as that! i just never pictured her in a bikini on a cover talking about her losing weight
The thing that’s even more stupid, is that she did it once before, a few years ago, with a cover for this magazine as well. And for alot of people doing these kinds of magazines, they loose weight and work out even more, which they naturally don’t do, and then get’s slimmer for the cover, and then of course goes back to their normal routine and gains the weight back on.
It’s natural and I love lauren and think’s she looks gorgeous, but it’s just not natural for her or for a lot of other celebs to look like they do on these covers.
She looks better in a bathing suit than when she’s wearing clothes…Hmmm…maybe Shape is like Self and every other magazine and they did some “editing”.
Lauren always had a great body. She only loses like 6 lbs but anyway its a great cover even if her face looks weird
Her left arm looks scary skinny :/
this magazine always photoshop their covers, Lauren doesn’t have these super skinny arms look so fake
She is really skinny. I just saw her on E News and they showed footage of her shape photoshoot and she was even skinnier.
I´ve said this before, but even though I have never read this magazine, it really pisses me off. They make all the women on their cover look exactly the same. and by this I mean their bodies. They propably just change the face and put the same body on the cover all over again.
i agree 100%. they all have the same collar bone, etc. it’s soooo annoying and completely ridiculous for a magazine thats supposed to be about celebrating a healthy body (not all having the same, unachievable one)!
Perfect.
