On being criticized for gaining weight and for her pale skin at a recent event (pictured):

“Fun fact: Wearing a dress that is not skintight=Pregnant/invites people 2 call u (sic) fat. I’m neither so thanks 4 (sic) that.”

“dear mother nature, people who bravely hide behind computers and pass judgement have informed me my pale skin and dark hair=old/ugle (ugly)/harsh. sorry if this feels like blatant compliment fishing, really not my intention but do appreciate the love (sic)”.

Khloe Kardashian Built Her Dream Butt in 2 and a Half Years

November 20, 2015 in Khloe Kardashian by Versus54 Comments »

On building her dream butt:

“I always wanted a great, round butt. Gunnar (her trainer) and I, for like two and a half years, we really worked on my butt and strengthening my legs. So I feel really accomplished about that, but then I’m like, I want muscular calves. So now we’re incorporating a ton of calf workouts in, which I feel good about whenever I do them. My least-favorite body part is my arms. We focus on those more. I’m still not proud of them, but when I see before and after pictures, I realize how far I’ve come.”

Olympian Shawn Johnson: “Being a huge target for weight criticism was really difficult”

November 20, 2015 in Athletes by Versus22 Comments »

On her struggle with weight gain:

When I first went on [DWTS], I was 16, and I turned 17 on the show. Going from this strict, regimented schedule to going through puberty on national TV and gaining weight, and just being kind of a huge target for criticism, was just really difficult for me.

On learning how to work out:

I could go do a handstand against a wall, or go do gymnastics, but I didn’t know how to work out. When I got hurt and had to stop everything, the first thought that I had was, ‘What if I could never do gymnastics again? That was never a thought that I had before — I was still healthy, I could still do things. When it was almost taken away from me, I was like, ‘I have to give it one more shot. I want to [run a full marathon] … but it also sounds miserable. Every time I’ve passed a half-marathon finish line, I can’t imagine doing a full one! But you see people of so many sizes and ages cross the finish line, and I’m like, ‘OK, you can do this.’

… says 23 year-old Olympian Shawn Johnson.

Victoria Beckham on Her Models: ‘They’re thin, that doesn’t mean they’re ill’

November 19, 2015 in Victoria Beckham by Versus28 Comments »

On receiving criticism for hiring very thin 17 year-old model, Peyton Knight:

I wasn’t the only show she did, I wasn’t the only designer to use her. Our casting director spoke to the [model] agencies, and we know that all our girls are healthy. They’re young, they’re thin, but that doesn’t mean they’re ill. People are mean on social media, whoever you are. It’s a shame people have to be that way.
