On her diet:

“I try to eat pretty healthy, but I think it’s fun and important to listen to your cravings. I develop a thing for Nilla Wafer cookies every time [I'm pregnant]. I have no idea why! I’ve also been into cheese and pickle sandwiches. Everyone thinks I’m gross when I order them.”

On her family’s diet:

“We definitely make exceptions, like if we’re at Disneyland. But we eat organic when we can, and I try to keep healthy food and snacks at home, where I have the most rules and restrictions. I saw my mom making meals for my kids, and I said, ‘This is the cheese you use? This is the butter?’ But I guess that’s just part of going to Grandma’s house.”

Rihanna: “Lipstick draws attention away from any flaws”

On her pick for “world’s sexiest woman”:

“Penelope Cruz is the sh-t. If I could wake up and look like her tomorrow, that would be great. Mia Wallace [Uma Thurman’s Pulp Fiction character] is gangsta. She’s epic. I’m going to do that bob again. Those bangs.”

On her favorite beauty product:

“Lipstick. It draws attention away from any flaws. When someone is wearing lipstick, you just assume they’re wearing a full face of makeup. And guys are stupid–they won’t notice when you’re not.”

… says Rihanna in Elle.

Emily Ratajkowski on Dancing Topless: It wasn’t for men, it was for myself and for other women | general

On dancing around naked in the “Blurred Lines” video:

“Anything that’s in pop culture and involves naked women and dressed men should be criticized or at least inspected, so I felt glad that it was criticized, because it gave me an opportunity to say the things that I felt about feminism today and about women in general in pop culture. There’s a larger thesis that I carry with me in general and that translates over to work like Gone Girl that I’ve been doing. We’re at an interesting time where women have been told to take the pill is cool, to sleep with whomever you want, or wear what you want. But if you’re naked, it can be offensive or sexist in some way. That’s the last step our culture needs to deal with. We have this culture of men, especially, watching pornography, but then offended by a classic nude portrait or photograph, and I’ve never felt that way.”

On how she gets naked for women, to empower women:

“The female body is a beautiful thing, and it should be embraced and celebrated, and there’s nothing wrong with being comfortable in your own skin. If anything, it can be really beautiful. And the way that I was dancing, sort of sarcastically and I felt silly, it wasn’t for men—it was for myself and for other women, just like you would dance around your apartment.”

… says Emily.
