Ummm yeah…I agree that Pam needs to cover but stop calling women who are in their forties “granny”. I know so many forty somethings that do not look like grannies. Pam has a nice figure but these outfits only emphasize her imperfections. It’s natural to have them but you don’t want to emphasize them!

Oh come on….her look here is very dated as if she just popped out of the 1980’s, but I certainly don’t know any 60 year olds that look like she does. She has her days where she looks tired and haggard, but even then she just looks like a rough around the edges 40 something.
Sometimes I think the hollywood standards for how thin, pretty, young you have to look are ridiculous.
I dont know if it is sad to say that I see this as being Britney Spears’ future…

i dont care how skinny, fat, muscular, old, young, whatever you are….nobody should wear an outfit like this, EVER! I’m so sick of all this ’she’s too old to be wearing that’ or ’she doesn’t have the legs to pull that off’. in reality any woman with a shred of self-dignity and self esteem shouldn’t wear an outfit like this. Why should we have to degrade ourselves to get attention? Pam looks just as good when she’s wearing jeans and t-shirts like the rest of us.
I think it is OK for her to try to stay relevant….. This is her bag and she still appeals to her fans… even if the bod is fading a little…… especially considering that we will all get older, I say go girl and have a good time…..
I’m going to play devil’s advocate and disagree with everyone here for a minute.
Why is it that we tell older women to “cover up” and call them “granny”, yelling at them to retire all ready? It seems that although we are starting to embrace different body types, we still feed into a youth-obsessed culture that really puts down older women and they’re bodies as “unattractive” and as women who need to cover up.
The message is: If you are over age 25, you and your body are no longer sexy (if you’re a woman). So cover up, shut your mouth, and let the younger women objectify themselves and be sexy please. You’re too old, and old means ugly and stupid.
Now, I don’t know about you, but these comments upset me a bit. Pam has always been known for being very sexy and scantily clad, but when she was young she was praised for it; now she is mocked for it. Maybe we need to reflect on our youth obsession and see what kind of values we have internalised unknowingly.
Great body for her age by the way! she’s always had some of the best legs in the business.

I don’t think she’s irrelevant because of her age, or that post-25 means ugly and stupid. Brooke Shields, Jennifer Aniston, Salma Hayek, Cindy Crawford, Susan Sarandon, Iman, Halle Berry- there’s a huge list of women over 40 who look beautiful. We do have a youth obsession that means 40 is expected to look like 25 but I think the issue with Pam is more about showing your skin, and a societal value that says as you get older you can show less of it.
I admire this woman for the great things she does for charity and her sheer balls. I wouldn’t get up in front of thousands in what she’s wearing and I’m half her age. At least she’s having fun and a great thing about age is the ability to take yourself less seriously.
I dont think the problem is necessarily older = less sexy/put it away (hello, has anyone seen Sophia Loren! Now that is HOT!) I think the issue many people have with Pam is the heavy sleaze factor that comes along with her schtik. Yes, her career has been based solely on sex/sleaze, but maybe its time to ease up on the sleaze?
I’ve never found Pam to be relevant so if she wants to go around dressing like that, go for it. BUT, since she is in the entertainment business and we all know how brutal people can be when it comes to an aging woman’s appearance, she’s going to get crucified for it. I think she has a great body, even if a good portion of it is cosmetically altered.
Pam has always been known for the sleaze factor, not for her merits such as charity work. I guess I’m just not a fan of women who objectify themselves in such a way that it’s the only thing they’re known for. But everyone is different and Pam seems to be perfectly happy doing what she’s doing.
I agree with you regarding the “granny” comments. They aren’t necessary.
It’s not that older women need to cover up- I mean look at Kate Winslet, she shows her body all the time and gets praised for it. It’s just that when you reach a certain age it’s time to stop being trashy. Women should refrain from being trashy at all ages, but especially after 40. If she were showing her body in a classy spread in Elle or something I’d be praising it, but instead she’s strutting around in a gaudy-looking contraption acting like a cheap hooker. Sorry to be so harsh, but it’s true.
It’s time she grows up and develops just a pinch of class.

As you get older, it is true that it may be harder to pull of skimpy outfits.
I still think she looks sexy though (small voice)…
