Skinny VS Curvy

The BET Honors Second Annual Black Entertainment Awardstook place a few days ago and Queen Latifah made an appearance, looking really good in a black lace dress.

Definitely flattering, definitely right for her curvy full figure! Even though the purple empire waist gown that she wore at People’s Choice Awardswas a beautiful one, this black dress hugs Queen Latifah’s curves just perfectly… and it actually looks like she’s lost pounds in between the events (there was only a 1 week gap).

The first outfit: Though Kim looks pretty good, girls that are on the shorter side (5′2”) aren’t advised to wear pants of this length, especially if paired with strappy shoes, since they tend to shorten and thicken the figure.

The second outfit: I think the outfits that look best on Kim are the ones that accentuate her small waist. Due to the fact that she’s a very voluptuous girl, she looks great in clothes that offer definition to her middle area.

Here’s Hilary Duff in her workout clothes, clothes that are tight enough to let us inspect Hilary’s current size and shape.

Hilary’s Body Shape: Even though she doesn’t have particularly large breasts, Hilary is positively a V shape (or reversed triangle / cornet) because she’s got pretty broad shoulders and she always gains weight in her top half first: face, neck, shoulders, upper arms. Even though she’s slim, her collar bones are rarely visible because of her shape.

Here’s Sophia Bush at two recent events in 2 dresses that differ in shape, cut and color. I don’t know if you noticed, but some celebs keep wearing a particular type of dress at every event because they think it agrees with their body type best – well, Sophia isn’t one of those celebs… on the contrary, she experimented with various styles and shapes lately!

Here’s Sophia Bush in 2 different pairs of jeans: a classic cut, slightly loose pair on the left and skinny jeans on the right.

Sophia is a slim hourglass, with round hips (not dramatically wide hips though) – and usually, hourglasses look perfect in flared jeans (like JLo is wearing HERE) or in jeans with straight legs.

Sophia obviously looks great in both jeans, but: The jeans on the left – would look ideal if they were not rolled, since rolling them can optically shorten the legs (due to the color difference). The jeans on the right would look great if paired with a blazer that accentuated Sophia’s small waist (she’s got a lot of volume on top right now compared to the volume-less bottom half).

I’m the one who usually gives verdicts about body types – but let’s switch roles this time! Since you get to see Shannen’s body pretty clearly, try and identify her body shape!

In order to make your decision, consider the following:

1. What part of her is thickest / thinnest?

2. Where does she seem to deposit / gain weight?

3. Bust-waist-hip proportions.

Eva is definitely thin – even more so, she’s lost some weight since the orange bikini pictures – but tight dresses made of shiny, silk-like fabrics which also happen to be elastic are usually recommended to the (very few) ones that have flat-as-a-board stomachs.

The shiny fabric creates lots of shades even on the smallest bumps – and believe it or not, I’ve seen cases (not celebrities, though) in which this type of dress and fabric (in collaboration with mean, mean lighting) reveal even cellulite.

A while back, Jordin (who is 5′11” and a US size 12, according to most sources) gave some tips to plus-size girls on how to dress for their shape. The tips are a little old, but Jordin gives some great advices, definitely worth posting. Here they are: 

1. Baggy clothes can make you look bigger. You want something that hugs you in all the right places — just not too much, where it’s too tight and you’re hanging out all over!”

2. I have a tiny waist in proportion to the rest of my body, so I like to wear corsety things that hug my waist.

3.  Darker types slim your legs down. A lighter wash jean makes everything look bigger.

4. V-necks give you an elongated neck. A crew neck can look like it’s choking you!

5. Dainty necklaces are nice. Chunky ones cut (your figure) up.”

British glamour model Gemma Atkinson had a long talk with Nuts magazine. About what, you ask? About body image, body shapes and breast surgery – here are the body-related parts of the interview!

Gemma on her gigantic boobs:

I’m an E cup now, which is pretty big, but not too big for my frame. I’m tall with a strong body, so I don’t look too top heavy. I have to say that having my boobs done hasn’t given me a taste for surgery. I’d never have it done to my face and liposuction is lazy – I’d rather work weight off at the gym. My clothes have changed a lot since I got new breasts two years ago, and I’ve done a calendar with my new assets. People keep saying they’re massive but they’re the same size as they were before - I’ve just lost loads of weight and had my boobs put back to the same size. I read somewhere that they were double-F, but if they were, I wouldn’t be able to walk! I was really surprised at how much coverage they got the enlargement. It felt like the nation was obsessed with them!

Gemma on her sexy curves:

I’d hate to be too skinny. Skinny girls just look ill to me. When I was younger, all the girls wanted to be like Kate Moss, but I wanted to look like Jet from Gladiators or Xena: Warrior Princess! I come from a surdy northern stock. I’m like my mum and my sister – we’re all broad-shouldered with strong legs and curves. I’ve never been fat but when I got asked to do my first men’s mag, I was aware I was carrying too much weight. I had a pot belly and big hamster cheeks! The Hollyoaks producers were brilliant and never put me under pressure to lose weight, but I knew that if I was going to start to do bikini and lingerie shoots, I’d need to improve my figure.”
