Nelly Furtado’s Little Black Dress Look

December 14, 2009 in Body Type and Clothes, Nelly Furtado by Versus

Nelly Furtados Little Black Dress Look | body type clothes

Nelly Furtado wore this little black number at the photocal of the Gala Awards 40 Principales 2009 in Madrid the other day.

Puffy sleeves can look great on curvy pear shapes, because they balance the figure and add some volume on top, but I don’t think that these ones right here are particularly flattering.

What do you guys think? How do you find this dress (and tights and shoes) on Nelly’s figure?

Kimbereley Walsh Reveals Her Size: UK 10 on Top, 12 Below

Kimbereley Walsh Reveals Her Size: UK 10 on Top, 12 Below | celebrity weight measurements

New Look’s image and Girl Aloud’s member Kimberley Walsh was kind enough to share her size with us (and it’s not the overly-popular-in-Hollywood-must-be-size-2) and a few thoughts about body image. From Daily Mail:

‘I’m always being told I should do a lipstick ad because of my huge mouth,’ she laughs. ‘But I think my skin might be too old for a beauty campaign. I’m 28 now. The wrinkles are starting to show!’

‘I’m like any other normal girl, I have ups and downs; I can focus and be healthy for a few weeks and then I’ll have a bad week. If I ate what the rest of the girls ate I’d be three times the size, but at the same time, I’m not vain enough to starve myself. I’d much rather be content in my life and a normal size. I’m a 10 on top and a 12 below. I think it’s quite good for young girls that in the band we’ve all got different figures.’

About her first quote: Yeah, right! She’s gorgeous.

I know that there are endless debates on this topic, but what would you say: A UK size 12 is the equivalent of a US…? And a European size… ? Anyway, she’s the only band member that maintained her shape and weight since the beginning of her career (while all others have lost weight).

See more pictures of Kimberley after the jump! She’s 5′5” in case you’re wondering.

Kimberley Walsh at Cosmopolitan Awards + Tips for Pear Shapes | body type clothes

2 in 1 post!

First request: Some of you wanted to see the beautiful Kimberley Walsh (Girls Aloud) at the Cosmopolitan Awards – well, here she is, looking stunning in long white dress.

Second request: Many of you wanted tips for curvy pear shapes – I’ve already answered in a post, but since the requests keep going strong, here they are again (taking advantage of the fact that Kimberley here is a classic pear herself). So here are some basic tips and tricks on how to dress your pear shaped figure!

What You Need in Your Closet:

- A-line skirts (but not too wide)

- belted coats, jackets and trench coats (the belt should be on your on waist, not lower)

- flat-front pants and skirts, make sure they don’t make any bulges on your hips

- you can wear puffy sleeves or more volume on top, especially on your shoulders (like ruffles) to balance out your figure

- flared jeans, classic jeans, wide-leg pants, just nothing too tight

- long boots, till the knee (with heels even better) will balance your body

- dresses! you can wear many kinds, especially the ones that hug your waist and fall nicely on your hips, A-line dresses, wrap dresses, middle-length dresses (you can even try pencil dresses IF they have slightly puffy shoulders, you might look great in them). And check out how great Kimberley looks in this backless dress right here!

- classic pumps or peep-toes elongate the legs as well, especially the nude-colored ones with thinner heels

- ideally, but not mandatory: light or bright colors on top, darker colors on the bottom (but not just black, try navy, deep green, deep violet, burgundy, browns, grey)

- unlike V-shapes, you are advised to wear accessories on top – necklaces, big earrings, scarves, etc., they will attract eyes on your top half

- ANY top that shows off your waist
