Lily Aldridge Talks Style

On her style:

“I grew up in the Valley in California. I was so into playing with clothes, dressing up, being girly, but around kindergarten, I became a tomboy. II was a super-tomboy, and really into sports. When I was in high school I got into fashion: I had to wear a uniform to school, so it was all about the shoes. That is how you identified yourself when you went to a Catholic school, by your shoes! I kind of liked the Adidas shell-toe sneakers. I was into rock ’n’ roll so I would also wear Dr. Martens, and cut-off jeans with a simple T-shirt.”

“I’ll always have a little bit of that tomboy trait and a little bit of rock ’n’ roll in me. Growing up, I was influenced by Mick Jagger and David Bowie. I love fashion, and the older I get, the more fun I have with it. I’ve realized it doesn’t matter what people think, because the important thing is to have fun.”

Nina Dobrev Talks Fashion in Nylon Magazine

On fashion:

“I was not a girly-girl growing up…I liked fashion, but I wasn’t very fashion savvy. I didn’t always have all the best outfits…For a while there, we actually shopped at The Salvation Army.”

On dressing up for the red carpet:

“It doesn’t feel real because I don’t live in that world. When I go to those events, I’m in town specifically for that, and then I leave later that night. I’ve maybe stayed for the after-party once, ever. It still feels like I’m a fan, in a way. A lot of people are very cynical and very jaded, but I’m not there yet.”

Taylor Swift Talks Style and Makeup

On the amount of red lipsticks she has:

“I don’t have an excessive amount! I just find one I like and use it. Right now [I’m using] Dragon Girl by NARS … I’ll go through different phases with makeup and always try new things. Except I never really get too far from red lipstick, do I? I guess I just think my face looks worse without it. That’s pretty much the only rationale behind it.”

On shoes:

“I really like an oxford high heel for kind of looking more like either a student or like you’re going to work. I don’t know, there’s something [that gives me some normality]. That’s what I kind of like to channel when I’m wearing them.”

On her style:

“The one common thread between [my friends] is they know who they are and they’re very sure of who they are. We don’t usually have the same style. If they see me wearing something, they know it’s because that’s something that represents me and they’ll wear something very different … It doesn’t really affect the conversation, what we’re wearing.”

… says Taylor.
