Mandy Moore in Shape Magazine

Mandy Moore plans on getting healthier in 2010 – here’s the scoop from her interview with Shape Magazine:

Hit the farmers’ market every week
“I’m going through a phase where I’m kind of bored with food,” says Mandy. “I’m just tired of relying on takeout and restaurants.” To spice things up, Mandy and Ryan want to start eating at home more often. “Ryan is an amazing cook, and there’s a farmers’ market about a mile from our house,” she says. “I love the idea of getting up early on Sundays and walking to the market to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s a good way to start my day, and it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something before other people are even awake.”

Actually use my home exercise equipment
For the last year, Mandy has been splitting her workouts between three 45-minute Pilates classes and three 45-minute hikes per week. “I’ve always had bad posture, and Pilates makes me feel taller and reminds me to keep my shoulders back,” she says. “And hiking isn’t just about doing cardio, it’s also when I can get my ‘me time’ to be alone with my thoughts.” This year she’d like to pump up her routines for a more balanced workout each time. “After Pilates I should do some cardio, and after hiking, I need to do some resistance training,” she says. “I have all the equipment in my house, and it’s just collecting dust. So after I get home from Pilates, I’m going to jump on my mini trampoline for 15 minutes. And after a hike, I’ll do some weight lifting or get down on my mat and do a set or two of crunches.”

Victoria Beckham Plans to Follow “The 3 Bites Diet” During Christmas

Victoria Beckham Plans to Follow The 3 Bites Diet During Christmas | victoria beckham

Victoria Beckham will be following the ‘three bites rule’ over the Christmas holidays.

The singer-turned-fashion designer is determined to maintain her size zero figure and is said to be panicking at the prospect of eating a traditional roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Victoria doesn’t want to relax her strict diet and has come up with a plan to enjoy dining with her husband David, their three sons and chef Gordon Ramsay and his family on Christmas Day.

“Victoria is regimental about her food. There is barely a day when she isn’t controlling and counting calories. But she knows it would be pushing it too far to request steamed turkey or sea bass and vegetables at Christmas dinner,” a source told Closer magazine.

“She will join everyone in tucking into the big turkey, but will only have three bites from everything that is on offer – from three bites of smoked salmon on blinis to the turkey and mince pies. She has joked she would have a heart attack if she ate a whole Christmas dinner. Even thinking about it gives her a panic attack.”

Victoria is believed to work out for 45 minutes every day and limits her daily calorie intake to 700-900 calories. The 35-year-old star is so concerned about piling on the pounds during the festive season she is considering splashing out on an expensive piece of gym equipment.

“Victoria said she was thinking of having a Power Plate machine delivered to her home and joked she would be doing squats on it during the queen’s speech to burn off calories before the meal,” the source added.

I know there have been lots of rumors, but I can not possibly believe the 700-900 calories / day, every day part – even a tiny woman like her needs at least 1600 calories (Daily Caloric Needs Calculator) to maintain her weight, especially since she is also exercising. Also, I am hoping that the “thinking about food gives her a panic attack” is a complete exaggeration as well.

Jennifer Lopez Is Not a Fitness “Monster” Anymore

December 16, 2009 in Jennifer Lopez by Versus

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez is the cover girl in Allure Magazine and she’s got a thing or two to say about staying in shape:

Has Jennifer Lopez let herself go? Has she sworn off the gym and calorie counting? Of course not — but she has chilled out, now that she’s a 40 year-old mother of twins Emme and Max, 21 months (their dad is her husband Marc Anthony).

“I’m not the monster I used to be in the exercise department,” Lopez says in the January issue of Allure. “You get past your 20s, you’ve got kids…you’re kind of unmotivated.”

The famously curvy singer-actress admits, “You want to be healthy and look good, but you want to do the least amount to maintain that.”

When she does need to hit the red carpet or a performance stage (as she did at November’s AMAs, where she slipped off a male dancer’s sweaty back), the star practices a more vigorous and frequent gym routine. Food-wise, Lopez says she’s a “big portion control person.”

Her attitude sounds pretty realistic – and I’m with her on the “pro portion control” thing.

Marisa Miller Shares Diet Tips and Insecurities

Marisa Miller Shares Diet Tips and Insecurities

Since many of you like Marisa’s skinny-thin, 5′8” (or 5′6′?)’ modelesque figure, here’s a tip or two that she shared with OK Magazine:

“When I’m home, I either do Pilates or boxing,” the 5-foot-8-inch Santa Cruz, Calif., native Marissa Miller tells OK!. “I also surf. It’s important that you do something.” OK! caught up with the 31-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel in L.A., where she opened up about how she stays in shape, has a weakness for cheeseburgers and learned to love her body.

How do you maintain your amazing figure?
One of the most important things is consistency, which is difficult for me with all the traveling I do. I have to plan a lot. I bring nutrition bars with me in case I’m in a pinch and can’t get a salad or something fresh. When I’m home, I cook and try to eat really clean. I try to eat vegetables at every meal. I stay away from pasta and bread and have brown rice and potatoes instead. The great thing about having a healthy diet is that when I splurge and have that day where I have the cheeseburger and fries, I don’t feel bad about it, because I know I’ve been eating well and one meal isn’t going to kill me.

Does staying slim come easily for you?
If I have to be in lingerie in front of everybody, that’s plenty of motivation! But anybody who knows me knows that I have a very healthy appetite. It’s not about being as tiny as possible; it’s about having balance. If you feel like having a cheeseburger, have one, but let your diet be healthy 90 percent of the time.

Do you have insecurities?
Growing up, I was always really shy about my body. One of the greatest things about my job is that I had to learn to be comfortable with it. When I started in the modeling business, I had a curvy figure and that whole androgynous look was in. All the others girls were completely flat, but I learned to embrace my curves. It’s so important to love your body and work with what you have and know that everybody has their own beauty. It’s not about being this or that.

What do you think about Marisa’s views on diet and body image?
