Tyra Banks Looks Thin(ner) in New Photo Shoot
I know that Tyra Banks has been losing weight for a while now (with a little help from SATC) and these are the final (or not?) results.
Looking very modelesque again!
Tyra is a fan of ever-changing hairstyles, so how do you feel about these luscious locks right here?
There are more outfits after the jump!

She looks gorgeous
She looks fab.
Lover her.
i love Tyra, she looks great no matter what her size but she really looks stunning here, a little bit Iman when a bit slimmer
Wow she looks amazing. She shouldn’t lose anymore. Love the hair too, much better than the middle parting long straight weave she has.
So I guess “kiss my fat ass” is no more?
She was the same size for two years after that, its only recently she has been working out and eating not as indulgent food. I think her kiss my fat ass was a statement about the way people were reacting to her weight and her saying why does it matter?
i love her hair! agreed deffo better than the sleek middle parting look. this frames her face well and gives her that edge. and she has an amazing figure!
Gorgeous!
She looks fantastic. So curvy…but…I can’t respect her after having seen her show. She’s among the “better to be seen and not heard” crowd.
I love the last pic so fresh so lovely
She looks beautiful, especially at this weight (she looks like her model self), but to me she will always be one big hypocrite. After she gained weight, it was all about “real women have curves” and “all men want something to grab onto” and all the other passive-aggressive phrases against being thin. That’s nice for the self esteem of curvy women and all, but what about thin women?
I also wonder how much she will focus on curvy women now that she is back to being thin. She never talked about them in her model days, and I doubt she will now.
Exactly. It’s nothing to be ashamed of to say ‘I hit the cupcakes too hard and I’m going to lose a few’. Now it’s just like ‘wow, you’re a liar’.
BUT. I’d kill for her figure in these pics. The long legs! Some things you just can’t buy.
i agree with what you said but tyra has mention that before she came a model she was very thin and got picked on because people thought she was very underweight or starving herself and whatnot. but i do think thin women need self esteem as well because they have issues with their bodies but some people choose not to acknowledge that. and as far as i’m concern there are men who do date thin women and are not gay or brainwash by the media. men are going to date what they want, regardless of what size. she has talked about thin women but not as much as curvy women. i think people give curvy women all the encouragement and bash thin women simply because thin women are looked as beautiful while curvy, you’re fat, unhealthy, not attractive, etc. society tells young girls to be a size 0 to be beautiful and yes that is sending a bad message but why put down thin women to uplift curvier women? i think society is doing the same thing when it comes to curvy women because they tell women to look a certain way to be beautiful. once curvy is in, then people will start saying or society saying to be beautiful you must have hips, big breasts, and a big butt to be a woman and that right there is sending the wrong message as well. excuse me if this is long but i get tired of people always putting thin women down, because i am a thin woman, and making us feel as if we’re not attractive or can’t compare to a curvier woman. curvy women are beautiful and should be praised for that but so should thin women and i mean the ones that don’t starve themselves, the ones who are naturally thin. but that’s all i have to say.
Very wise words bigvinamac. I think you touched upon a really important thing, which is that thin women are still considered beautiful, at the expense of other body sizes. (which is wrong!)
But I actually think that, that damages individual thin women’s self esteem more than anything. Because thin women are in right now, people feel it’s okay to go up to a thin woman and say whatever they want.
As a thin woman myself, whatever I may say on this site, I have never gone up to a person face-to-face and told them to diet, or lose weight, or that they’re too big…etc. But numerous times women have gone up to me and told me to eat a cheeseburger, the wind is going to blow me away, or I look like a skeleton (and I’m a size 2, not a 0!). When I told them I found their comments offensive, they basically dismissed my feelings because “it’s attractive to be thin.” Maybe it is, but I am a human being and I worry about being attractive like anyone else. I am not blessed with a big chest, or a big booty. Saying those things does hurt me, make me worry, and make me feel inadequate as much as anyone else.
I am all for embracing the curvy side of body sizes, but just like you, I don’t think it should be done by putting thin women down. Then you’re just replacing a problem with another problem.
exactly and that’s what i’ve been saying since i got here but some think as if i complain or try to start something when it’s not the case. i just think it’s wrong for people to put thin women down and see it hurts us to be called names but some don’t get that and think it’s okay and then they wonder why women have issues with their body. i understand that people will criticize you but if you can’t be nice about it then i suggest keep it to yourself. society and hollywood does put us, thin women, on pedestals but we don’t know what it like in hollywood. i don’t know what thin women go through in hollywood so why should i get criticize because of the way i look? why can’t thin women learn to love their bodies without getting bashed about? i mean if you bash on a woman who has curves then people will get all mad and say it’s not right to say mean things to them because it hurts their self esteem. that’s true but let it be a thin woman, oh she needs to eat, she looks like a boy, a woman should have curves, etc. i don’t think women should be starving themselves or doing harm to their bodies just to be thin knowing their bodies can’t handle that but what makes thin women will gain weight and may end up having that so call womanly figure? what gives people the right to pick on thin women and think it’s okay but let someone call a woman that’s curvy fat, then that’s another story. i think all body types are beautiful but i think people, not all, need to see that so young girls wouldn’t have to suffer so much to be beautiful.
I see your point, and I’ve never told someone to gain weight or lose it because it’s not my business. It saddens me that any stranger would talk to you about your body.
I think Tyra looks amazing, but she made such a fuss about her ‘curvier’ look and how she was still sexy and then goes and loses a ton of weight, she’s a hypocrite. She’s clearly not a naturally thin model now, it takes effort, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of.
The problem is this idea that we should all accept (or reject) our natural shapes. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be slimmer, or heavier, and making effort to maintain that look. Similarly if you like your natural figure that’s fine too. It’s your body.
There is way too narrow a perception of beauty, not just in terms of size but also height, shape, race, hair colour, breast size etc etc. I think it’s up to us as women to be confident and make sure our friends, sisters and daughters feel good about themselves and don’t just aspire to be thin or curvy or have long hair or big boobs, but aspire to be intelligent and ambitious and loyal and independent.
I would consider her thin but curvy. And EVERYONE gets bashed. Super thin, thin, thin with curves, average, overweight and obese. There are always people that are going to bash body types that they don’t prefer. It’s unfortunate, but human being are very judgmental creatures.
I think Tyra’s “real women have curves” was a response to society’s current obsession with thinness and she felt the need to defend herself. Press and bloggers where making fun of her because she wasn’t model thin. It must be difficult to be a women who’s in the public eye. You might as well never read a magazine or gossip site because you’ll be slammed for your body type, regardless of what it is. It’s sad really…
well thin women are more likely to get bashed more than curvy women. at least they get support from other people and as far as thin women, we don’t.
I disagree but it’s all opinion isn’t it? My opinion is that both thin women and heavy women are equally bashed. Our opinions are shaped by our personal experiences.
I totally disagree. I believe that both thin and heavy women are equally bashed. Of course it is all about opinion on this website but our opinions are usually shaped by out life experience. I have been on the receiving end of both sides and I can tell you, I was criticized just as harshly for being what is considered slightly overweight. Now that I’m thinner, I’m still being criticized. My point is that every body type gets bashed.
Sorry for the two posts. For some reason, my first comment wasn’t posting for a few minutes so I decided to write a similar version. Thanks
It’s okay about the double post Kae, that happens to me too sometimes.
It’s unfortunate that you got bashed by both ends. Maybe you are right and all women get bashed equally. Just because I don’t go up and tell bigger women to lose weight doesn’t mean that other thin girls don’t.
But I can’t help but feel that bigger women have more of a support system AFTER getting bashed for several reasons. First, thin women are automatically made the “enemy” since Hollywood/media favors them at the expense of other women.
It doesn’t help that most women are not size 0-4 and don’t have trouble gaining weight.
Because of those things, I think it’s hard for most women to relate to thin women and their issues because most women have not gone through that themselves, and there is also misplaced resentment. So when they see thin women being bashed, they don’t defend them as much as average/bigger women. It seems that only thin women and a few others defend other thin women. That’s a really decreased support system. How many times do we see talk show episodes of thin women talking about how hard it is to gain weight and how hard it is being teased, but how many talk show episodes show bigger women talking about how hard it is to lose weight and how hard it is being teased? There’s a big discrepancy simply because not many people are (naturally) thin.
But I don’t know, it all sort of sucks. I wish all people would withhold their nasty comments, whether big or small.
well it’s cool and yes women from different body types do get picked on but i feel mainly thin women because every time someone gets picked on because they may have meat on their bones, they feel the need to pick on thin women when we are not the enemy. we didn’t tell hollywood to put us as pedestals for beauty. they were the ones that did that. and i agree with casey, your more likely to have talk shows that talk about bigger women getting treated or made fun of but never try to see what thin women go through on a daily basis. that’s why when some people here bash on thin women at times, i do get defensive because i think it’s wrong to do that just as much it’s wrong to bash women that are curvy. women from all body types do get bash but at least curvy women get some kind of support while thin women have nothing but ourselves and i think that’s unfair. i’m 5′2 and weigh about 115 and some people use to say i need to eat or why am i so skinny? i think i look fine. i can’t help the way i look and other women as well. i feel that women of all sizes should be appreciated and not picked on simply because of the way they look.
On this particular forum, thin women are defiantly bashed more than curvy people. If a celebrity has even just an average figure, the posters on this forum will still tend to deem her as less of a woman as opposed to a more curvy (even overweight) woman- ie America Ferrera.
You’re not “less of a woman” because of your size. I know people who are on the larger side of the spectrum, and yet they eat healthy and exercise. I also know ladies who have similar diet and exercise regimes, and yet they are size 0-2. In cases like this, how can people judge whether someone is more or less of a woman? The only time I think it’s fair to comment on someone’s size is when it’s obvious that they have a problem, whether that be over or under eating, or a lack of physical activity… or if they are wearing something completely inappropriate for their shape!
As for real life, I am a size 4-6 and 180cm (34-24-38), and I always get the “wow you should eat something” line from strangers. I would hate to think what girls even slimmer than me get told by randoms on the street! And for the record, I eat like a man (mainly all carbs and dairy) and exercise daily. I’m a woman, regardless of what some posters on here might say!
Oh dear, my 52 hours straight (and counting!) of being awake and doing my uni work has really got to me. So many grammar and typing errors! Particularly my spelling of ‘definitely’- how embarrassing!
yes you are right and i was about to say the same thing…she is a big hypocrite and after i saw her show i really believed what she said…but hey i dont think she actually believes what she is saying…she should think before telling women what to do when she doesnt even agree with what she’s saying…of course she is gorgeous…beautiful…thinner whatever….but now all i can see is bulls*it …and i really loved and admired her character…now all that there is ..is the body!
p.s. do u remember her crying? WHAT A DRAMA QUEEN!
Hm, I don’t remember her crying. When was that?
She looks amazing, well done.
Her hair is really cute, and I think she does look better at this weight, though she looked good before, too
I really like her new hair it looks more natural…her body looks great right now but I would prefer her with a few additional pounds….oh and those long legs…I’m jaleous
Yeah her hair is naturally like this! its cool eh!?
Her body looks just fabulous.
Wow she has definitly lost weight – it is especially noticeable in her face! Looking good – and actually a bit younger than usual!!
Body looks great. Face, not so much, maybe she should have kept some of the weight on…
shes amazing! I love her drive and spirit. . but once again.. because Im used to seeing her younger and looking fierce as a victorias secret angel, these pictures are slightly disappointing.. but she still has it!
i really dont like her because she is obsessed with herself and thinks that shes the only model that ever lived, and to be honest i really dont even think of her as a classic model anymore because of that. but her body is looking great, she was getting heavy
i think the main problem with the statement “real women have curves” is the real part. The message as it was intended has got mixed up. I think the point of it was that women come in different shapes and sizes and that alot of women arn’t stick thin and so to aspire to be something that doesn’t come naturally to alot of people is wrong.
So instead of biggin curvy women up and puttin skinny women down or vise versa the message should have been don’t try to be something you are not for there are beautiful women all around that are both thin and curvy. There is no “real women” women can not and should not be judged on shape, the size of their waist boobs, or hips. There should be no war between us, especially not based on something so superficial as weight.
i agree.
She looks a lott better!
I can already hear the little clicks of photoshopping.
See the fourth pic in the white dress? I guarantee she’ll have no stomach in whatever magazine this is for.
I do not agree at the statement ” don’t try to be something you are not ” … Personally,I think it is about how comfortable you feel at whatever shape or weight…and how you’d like to look like..if a curvy woman feels uncomfortable at that shape and would like to lose weight to be thin..whatever then..her issue..if a thin woman thinks she will look better or feel better if she gains some weight..then be it..
First,Tyra was not thin and she tried to make herself feel better while she was being bashed all the time because of her not-modelesque-body-look..and then she just wanted to be thin again and worked on that..her issue..that does not make her a hypocrite..was she supposed to remain curvy for good so that people won’t call her a hypocrite ? she was curvy before and she wanted to accept it and needed others to accept it as well…so there was ” real women have curves ” campaigne..but she is a super-model..if she missed being thin and wanted to look like a super-model again…nothing wrong with that..
OMFG, she lost a lot of weight and looks awesome. will she share some of her secrets on her show?
such a doll! I remember her from the movie “Life Size”, she has great proportions when she’s in shape
