The 21 year-old actress told BANG Showbiz:
“I have two younger sisters in high school and they talk about image all the time. Girls need to have a better body image. The stars out there now, they don’t need to be stick-skinny to the point you can see their bones through your skin. It’s not a good look.
“You don’t need to be like that to be beautiful or perfect or to fit in. What you are is exactly what you should be. You can’t let other people dictate your life or tell you how to feel about yourself because then you’re not living.”
“One of the most important things that I would love to do if I get to continue doing this job is to be a really positive role model for young women about their body image and about eating.
“I want to start giving girls a better body image.”
It’s not easy being a role model these days… so what do you think about this?

… especially about her legs & cellulite.
Here are the details from People Magazine:
Mischa Barton’s personal demons not only included a DUI arrest, relationship breakups and a hospitalization at a psychiatric ward – the actress also struggled with a fluctuating weight and body image.
“She has big self-esteem issues. … She hates her legs,” says a source close to Barton. “She isn’t comfortable with her body. It’s been a big source of stress and self-hate.”
Speculation about 23-year-old actress’s weight and nasty comments from tabloids and blogs also fueled insecurity.
“She had a big problem with those photos of her cellulite. … She didn’t like it,” says another source. “That just was something that contributed to her spiraling but she didn’t do much to fix it because of her partying.”
While another friend tells PEOPLE the photos upset the former O.C. star – “[She was] more pissed off than hurt and she complained a lot about that” – she didn’t let them get “to her too much. … I never saw her diet.”
But when photos showed a thinner Barton, she took to her blog and spoke out about the “crazy press,” telling fans that she’s “happier and healthier than ever so there’s no need to worry about me.”
“Just be happy and secure with yourself,” she wrote on her Web site. “Don’t let other people’s perceptions of you dictate the way you live your life.”

Mad Men star January Jones admits she’s been having trouble filling out the girdle of the curvy late ‘60s character she portrays on the critically acclaimed AMC show – and it’s gotten her in hot water with producers.
“I got told a couple of days ago that I look too skinny, and I was in trouble,†January sheepishly told reporters at the July 28 party for the AMC network. “I’m naturally pretty thin, so I’m trying,†the beautiful blonde actress said, showing reporters she was drinking an Amstel Light beer at the party.
Also, January says, “I eat whatever is at craft services. I’m a big eater. I’m from South Dakota, so meat, potatoes, carbs.â€
The star notes that to maintain Mad Men’s early ‘60s look, in which women definitely had more meat on their bones, she and the other actresses are “encouraged NOT to work out. We want soft; we don’t want any muscle definition.â€
January’s character, who is married to advertising guru Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, is pregnant during the show’s third season, premiering August 16. It has affected her wardrobe: “We’ve done a little bit less petticoats and it’s been really fun.â€
“They tell us to gain weight, gain weight, gain weight, because they want a soft, voluptuous woman which they were [back then] which is beautiful, as it should be.â€

Sandra Bullock’s got some interesting quotes this week. Here they are:
Some funny body talk:
“I need surgery. I’m getting some b~~~~. I think that’s my problem. All my brains are in my butt, they’re not in my chest,†The NZPA quoted her as saying jokingly.
“I want to be the bimbo, I want to be looked at as the bimbo, purely as a sexual object. I’ve been working for that for a very long time.â€
And then some diet talk:
“I don’t believe in denying myself anything. If I can be good during the week, then at the weekend I can eat whatever I want.
“I love good food. I love pastas and cheeses and a nice glass of wine. I love good clean, hearty food.
“But a steak, and a great glass of wine, there’s nothing better than that – some homemade French Fries and a big bowl of ice-cream.â€
