InTouch features an interview with Julia Roberts – and you guessed, it’s about thinness:
You filmed Duplicity six months after giving birth to Henry. Were you confident with your body?
JR: To be honest, I was kind of panicking. I was still nursing him in my trailer, but I felt very supported by the director and Clive. You have a baby, and you just want to stay home in your elastic waistband pants.
And Hollywood leading ladies seem to keep getting thinner.
JR: I know! I look the same. I guess that’s my staying power. My fighting weight. That is a strange thing that happens. People get wildly famous and they get incredibly slim. It never happened to me, no matter how hard I tried!
So, you like to eat?
JR: I do, I have always been a friend of food.
Do you work out?
JR: I do, but working full-tie and being a mom full-time, something got to fall. Or fall down!

Dancing with the Stars Cheryl Burke talks about her weight, too – here’s what she had to say:
“I decided over the summer to stop taking birth control pills. I did it thinking that I was going to lose more weight for the season. But it actually did the opposite. It made me gain weight. If anything, when I am stressed or emotional, I don’t eat.â€
She denies she is an emotional eater. “If anything, when I am stressed or emotional, I don’t eat,” she says.
These days, she says she is done being bullied about her figure.
“At the end of the day, I really love to dance,” she says. “It makes me want to go out there and just shut everyone up.”

Jessica Simpson’s former trainer, Harley Pasternak (who helped Jess get in shape for her role in Major Movie Star) approves of Jessica’s fuller figure:
She has curves where a woman needs to have curves. We all go a little bit up and a little bit down. But she’s healthy. She’s still sexy. She’s still a beautiful woman. And I have no problem with the way she looks.’ He adds, ‘I think if more people looked the way she looks now, the country would be a lot healthier.’ “
Jessica was a fantastic client. I think Jessica has a really healthy perspective on her healthy body image and looks like a woman. I would take her body any day over somebody who’s emaciated and looks unhealthy.”
The celebrity trainer wasn’t the only one who defended Jessica’s new figure – Ashlee Simpson was also there to support her sister – here’s what she had to say:
“Since when did a woman’s weight become newsworthy… I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister’s weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman’s weight or figure as a headline on Fox News (â€Jessica Simpson Shocks Fans With Noticeably Fuller Figureâ€.)
“All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you’re a celebrity, there shouldn’t be a different standard. Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend? I seriously doubt it.
“How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure? Now can we focus on the things that really matter. -Ash â€
Kate Winslet talks body image in Vanity Fair… and gets photoshopped at the same time – quite the pair, right? Here’s what she had to say:
“This is going to sound really weird but I never had a desire to be famous. I never had huge ambitions-never.… I was fat. I didn’t know any fat famous actresses. I just did not see myself in that world at all, and I’m being very sincere. You know, once a fat kid, always a fat kid. Because you always think that you just look a little bit wrong or a little bit different from everyone else. And I still sort of have that. I often look at women who wear great jeans and high heels and nice little T-shirts wandering around the city and I think, I should make more of an effort. I should look like that. But then I think, They can’t be happy in those heels.â€
All this gave me an idea – Kate (the real, authentic, curvier and untouched by Photoshop’s hands Kate) would make quite a good competitor in our Skinny VS Curvy battle – so stay tunned and tomorrow we’ll get to vote!
UPDATE: Since the blogoshpere was buzzing about how these Vanity Fair pictures were photoshopped, Kate herself got a little angry – as a result, her representative declared:
“She is in terrific shape and what you see is how she looks or she would never have agreed to pose for those shots. The only retouching was the usual work on skin tone that happens in every glamour shoot.”
