On why she would never allow her daughters to model before finishing college:

We shouldn’t just see 15-year-old bodies. I don’t want a 15-year-old body. I don’t want to look like a little boy. I have curves, and I’ve worked on my strength. ‘It’s a cutthroat and demoralizing business. Plus, they want you when they want you, and you have to be there for auditions and work, and my kids aren’t missing school. If I hadn’t had the intellectual piece as my friend, I would have been more devoured by an industry that has no loyalty whatsoever.

Finally a smart quote from someone in entertainment business. And even from someone who got knows as a teenager in a sexy role. Kudos!

She speaks the truth, but damn it sounds bitter.

I love her she’s one of my role models and sooo beautiful. Her beauty has changed over the years she’s more handsome than pretty now but that’s not a bad thing

I agree that people (especially models and other celebrities) go overboard trying to get skinny, but is there really any need to bash ANY kind of body? Some people are born with “boyish” hips.

Yeah that’s how some people are but she’s saying she’s rejecting the need to look a certain way and embracing her body for what it is.

What she is saying is good and true, but it’s hard to swallow knowing she basically made her career as a lolita in blue lagoon and even more disturbing pretty baby …http://denniscooperblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/016_autograph.jpg perhaps because of her experience she is extra sensitive to it

She was a child with an alcoholic momager- she didn’t have a say

actually i think the fact that she experienced it herself gives her quote more credibility. she knows what she’s talking about better than any of us.

I feel people need to stop body shaming. I know she meant no harm, but referring to thin-framed women as “15-year old boys” and how nobody wants to look like that, is just shaming another body type, and making you feel less of a woman if you don’t have curves. No need to spew negativity on any body type.

I think the agencies recruiting already think ultra young girls then pushing them to further lose weight are the ones doing a disservice and are the subject. They fashion houses start off with body types and transform them from a previous shape into an entirely new one. Just look at Bella, Gigi

Okay y’all shes not even dissing thin women- she’s dissing the fact that model agencies use 14-15 year old girls to model and use as a beauty standard( which actually never really caught on other than in high fashion luckily). She’s talking from experience being one herself. The industry preys on young girls and then makes women with low self esteem think they should be seen as aspirational.
