Carnie Wilson: ‘I’m fat as f**k, what can I say?’

FP_4458385_Wilson_Carnie_SLY_EXCL_00_06 - Carnie Wilson: 'I’m fat as f**k, what can I say?'

Carnie Wilson brings a little quote for today:

“I’m fat as f**k, what can I say? You know, after all these years, it’s just like we are who we are and it’s a struggle for me and sometimes I’m heavier and sometimes I’m thinner.”

Carnie also mentioned in the past something about her eating habits:

“I’ve been really changing how I eat. It’s great. I cooked really fattening food on the show but I lost 11 pounds while we did it. I cooked for everybody on the set every day. I’d wake up early and bake and then I wouldn’t be eating the food. I would eat and spit, taste and spit.”

I was with her until the eat and spit” part. Ew. I don’t recommend that and not just for the gross factor.

I know right? I kinda liked what she had to say until that part came up.

I just wish that weight wasn’t such an issue for women. It seems more painful to go through the wringer like this than to just be a little overweight.
It’s probably better to focus on being 10lbs lighter or drop one size, or firms up than to aim for simply ‘skinny’.

That’s why the gym make me feel good.. I feel like I’m making myself strong.. not worrying about weight (though i still do sometimes)..

eating and spitting is actually a form of bulimia.

Yes it is. I remember reading an interview she did in her skinny days and that was one of her ‘diet tips’. I was so enraged that anyone would endorse that unhealthy behaviour. i was actually going to write a nasty letter to the magazine for being so irresponsible.

Chewing and Spitting is not a good way to lose weight. She obviously has some mental issues if she has resorted to that. I should know, I’ve been there. It’s sick.

It’s not technically a form of bulimia according to the DSM. It’s just disordered eating or ednos if you really wanna call that although if it was one time than it isn’t.

It scares me when I see huge weight fluctuations. I means it’s obviously not just about food at that point, that’s like from extreme binging. It kind of reminds me of my mom, I hate it. She used to weight 186 and exercised and ate relatively healthy, but now she’s at 240. I try to help and encourage her to exercise again. Stuff like that freaks me out, it’s not good. 🙁

I’m not crazy about her settling for “i’m fat as f**k, then obviously u will be. I’m not saying she should get skinny, like she says is probably hard for her to lose weight, as it is for me. But sorta sounds like she’s giving up.
On the other hand, it’s her life, and her choice. She probably knows what’s best for her. Dunno who she is, btw??

At least she’s honest. The eat spit thing is weird though.

She seems happier than alot of the skinny celebrities you see on here and seems to have a happy family. She must be doing something right…

The eat and spit part, she said she was cooking for the crew, i’d assume she meant she was tasting the foods while making them (bc you kinda have to) or something, but didn’t actually eat them, or if it was a cooking show, i have no clue, tasting them in the show and spitting them like many actors do when they have eating scenes. Well, the only thing i get from that quote anyways is that she’s been preoccupied with other things to prevent her from eating, that doesn’t really solve the problem..

I have seen much fatter people than Carnie. When she’s truly ready to dedicate her lifestyle to living healthy, she will do it. People need to realize it is a lifestyle change, no stint on a tv show is going make everything better, maybe it will jumpstart it or whatever.

Didn’t she have a gastric band at one point? She needs more than a living lifestyle change she needs rehab because her issues aren’t with food, food is the symptom
she has low self esteem and self loathing, to which she’s openly admitted to.

can someone explain to me how she can get really big again after a gastric band?
I thought you literally can’t eat that much because you have a small stomach. can you stretch it out again? I don’t get it?
I have always liked her, she seems super fun!

yeah it is actually possible to stretch the band out again – though it takes some effort. I read about a woman who had a gastric band fitted three times, lost loads of weight, then gained it all back each time, despite risking her life with surgery and and not to mention the expense of it all. She even had a child, and she was totally unapologetic about it all. IMO over-eating sooo compulsively to the point of stretching out a gastric band, that seems like an eating disorder and just as life-threatening as being severely anorexic.

It is actually very common. Patients don’t learn proper eating and lifestyle habits. The band restricts the amount of food you can eat at one meal, but the body (and person) quickly realize that you can eat what you want if you constantly snack during the day. The appetite chemicals in their brain never adjust properly and they end up right back where they started. Thats why it is so disgusting to see them americans that aren’t yet morbidly obese getting these surgeries without first trying to lose the weight with conventional methods. Anyone who had seen the biggest loser… Read more »

I don’t think a typical American gets so overweight they get a gastric bypass band and then stretch it out… Just saying, this isn’t quite a common thing, and is a symptom of a much bigger issue than improper diet and exercise training. Some people are born with brains that never sense hunger. Imagine not being able to ever sense pain. Some people are born with chemicals that are constantly released into their system telling them they are always at the brink of starvation even when they’re 400 pounds. These things seem minor but they’re pretty serious. And then there’s… Read more »

im sorry but shows like the biggest loser are just as irresponsible. the way people lose weight on those shows is EXTREMELY intense. Its very stressful and not at all sustainable outside the shows conditions. People have ignored medical advice and continuted destructive behaviour on those shows, hell, the instructors themselves have ignored doctors! I dont deny that exercise and a healthy diet helps keep a person healthy, im trying to say that the extremes on those shows are completely misleading and ultimately destructive. you can really hurt yourself losing weight that quickly, not to mention the strain from sudden,… Read more »

You go to your doctor to have some of the filler removed so that the band is looser. I saw a documentary about a guy who had it loosened and binged for a week straight and had it filled in again. She probably just had it loosened and didn’t go back.

Who is this lady?

Why would you ask “who is this lady” when you could just Google her and find out for yourself? She’s the daughter of Brian Wilson, the singer from the Beach Boys.

More importantly (imo 😉 ) She was in Wilson Phillips, 80s girl band.
Im probably showing my age now 😛

It’s sad to see someone fluctuate so much in weight, but this is why I think gastric bands should only be used in extreme cases. It just seems to me that if your life was really in danger and you couldn’t lose weight by diet and exercise (which happens after a certain point) then a gastric band is necessary and careful supervision of the person’s diet for a few months must be observed. But if you are a binge eater, not so obese that you can’t diet and exercise the weight off then I’d say you need to see a… Read more »

I hate to be nitpicky, but I’m guessing she probably did see a psychologist at some point if she got gastric bypass surgery. The sad thing is, going to a mental health therapist doesn’t always mean it’s going to turn out successful. And that’s through no fault of the patient or the psychologist. Sometimes, cases and illnesses can be so severe that there’s really not much one can do about them. If it was as simple as going to a psychologist, we wouldn’t have people dying of anorexia or depression because they all would have been “cured” at some point.… Read more »

You’re right – I have been to psychologists a couple of times and not really found it helpful. I guess I just feel that at her level of fame and fortune she should be able to find someone to help her! But I know it’s not as simple as that. Obesity runs in her family and she has obviously struggled a lot with it over her lifetime – maybe it’s just a battle she can’t keep fighting. It must be soul-destroying to find it so hard to lose weight and keep it off – I really don’t blame her for… Read more »

I’ll take any advice Carnie Wilson gives with a grain of salt. With her weight fluctuating through the years, she’s definitely not a role model for healthy living.

i really don’t understand how people can let themselves go like that.
