Priyanka Chopra Doesn’t Work Out Because She Is ‘Genetically Blessed’

FFN_vcv_51942930 - Priyanka Chopra Doesn't Work Out Because She Is 'Genetically Blessed'

On being able to eat burgers and not work out because she is genetically blessed:

‘I’m actually not a big fan of working out. I have genetically blessed Indian genes where I don’t need to train. I have genetically blessed Indian genes where I don’t need to train, but [Baywatch co-star] Kelly Rorhbach has been trying to convince me to train with her, and every morning when she tries to get me to go with her, I’m just like, “Oh, can I just get a half an hour more sleep? Or I say my tummy’s hurting and make excuses. They train like beasts! I just try and hide out with my burger.’

… says 33 year-old Priyanka.

Can’t say I’m as blessed! Although exercise has many health benefits other than just looking good. Anyway I think she’s quite beautiful.

Wait until the mama-san genes kick in. From my observation, most India young ladies look great, but after marriage and a couple kids……yeesh.

Annie

That’s a bit racist, no?

Observer

No. Why would it be? One should be able to point out facts about all races, regardless of the race of commenter and subject. People make similar observations about white women all the time. It’s even widely acknowledged that lower class black women in America have a weight problem.

And I actually agree with Pet Peeve. I’ve seen it myself.

Perhaps, but I don’t think weight gain after marriage/kids is something that is specific to Indian women. Women of all races tend to gain weight after marriage, and kids especially, simply because pregnancy/childbirth changes the body. Even some men gain weight after marriage, especially if they’ve been married for a while as obviously people’s metabolism slows down with age. I think the ‘mama-san’ reference has negative/racist connotations, but maybe you didn’t mean it in the way I’ve previously heard it being used.

careful! Everything is racist and morally/politically wrong to these millennials… what a boring generation.. ops! Sorry.. I guess that was “racist” or offensive too… blagh

laura

Really sick of people making weird generalisations about “millennials”. I think it’s just that, because of social media, we hear more of people’s voices and opinions – it’s not that this generation is whinier or something. All you do when you say these things is make yourself sound bitter and old. I doubt when you were young that older people were positive about everything your generation said and did.

People accuse millennials of being too sensitive and then you react by getting all sensitive. Haha.

The word racist (kind of like ignorant & bully) now just means “rude.”

yeah, people have to stop making generalizations about millennials….. we’re trying to make a safe world for people who are “different” colors, races, religions, etc… I mean seriously just 2 years ago we still had a high school with a racially segregated prom…. right now is a time for extra sensitivity, so people can start relating to each other better

I agree! This came across very smug to me too. I really like her, and after seeing her in other interviews I think she is really intelligent, but I *hate* quotes like this!

I mean, it’s true. You don’t get a face like that without being genetically blessed. I agree thAt it sounds smug, but at least she’s owning it!

Oh lord…..not another one of these insipid actresses shoving her foot way down her mouth. First, she’s not that fit. Second, from what I’ve seen in Bollywood, those “Indian” genes do not equal to a body that I think doesn’t need training. I do believe many other Bollywood actresses share her view, judging from their appearances, though. I laugh at how the US mainstream media fall over themselves fawning over her beauty, as if they’re scared to death of being labelled racists. It’s laughingly patronizing. They do the same thing with that green eyed one with the nasty attitude. I… Read more »

I’m with you on all but the last point. Her co stars are all models and body builders, so their bodies *are* their work. I don’t think she meant they’d all be fat if they lived her lifestyle, though I guess it’s not a far jump.

“I laugh at how the US mainstream media fall over themselves fawning over her beauty, as if they’re scared to death of being labelled racists.” I don’t understand this logic at all. I find it odd that you (and several other commenters) are assuming that she is only gets recognition for her looks because of her race- in other words, she’s the ‘token non-white woman’. For starters, facially speaking, I think she could be described as ‘conventionally attractive’ (big eyes, full lips, long hair etc.), even though whether or not she is beautiful is debatable. My point is, I don’t… Read more »

Zoe, you’re reaching with your disorganized PC rant.
For one thing, DON’T try to convince my of what opinion I should have of her attractiveness (you did that with another poster as well).
My comments had nothing to do with that, or with how white women are perceived. And no one here has said she is ugly (in any case the “not-so-special” remarks are seen ALL THE TIME on posts involving whites).

None of the jumbled nonsense you said negates the fact that the US media INDEED fawns embarrassingly over people like her, & it IS patronizing & painfully obvious.

Zoe.

You seem to have completely misunderstood my comment, which is why you have taken to personal insults by branding it ‘jumbled nonsense’. I am not attempting to change anyone’s views- note how I said *I* think she could be described as conventionally attractive, and in my other comment noted that her being considered to be ‘nothing special’ is just ‘a matter of [personal] opinion’. To simplify the main point of my original comment[s], do I think Priyakna is pretty? Yes. Do I think she is stunningly attractive? No. Do I see why *other people* might find her stunningly attractive? Yes.… Read more »

Also, there are plenty of non-white women who are often called ugly e.g. Viola Davis, Serena Williams, who is often described as ‘manly’, Mindy Kahling, who said someone called her ‘ugly and fat’ to her face, and meant it as a compliment. :/ I just find it rather irksome when people claim that certain women are *only* seem as attractive due to their races, because I don’t think that’s true. An ‘ugly’ person is an ‘ugly’ person regardless of their ethnicity, and obviously the converse also applies.

With her being in HW I would’ve expected her to leave behind that pancake makeup most Indian actresses sport in BW. Her makeup is underwhelming and looks amateur.

Why do Americans think every foreign actress is so “exotic” and beautiful. Its like they are uncomfortable saying any non white actress is just plain or ugly. This woman is nothing special, there are prettier women in my office. And those arms in the 5th picture could certainly use some exercise. Usually wouldn’t be this rude, but she sounds like a major azs

Zoe.

Zoe.

“This woman is nothing special…” That’s a matter of opinion though. Whilst I personally think don’t find her stunningly attractive, I can understand that other people might see her as being so. To me, it doesn’t seem to be a case of Americans being ‘uncomfortable saying any non white actress is just plain or ugly’- it’s just a matter of different aesthetic preferences. I don’t think most people would describe Mindy Kahling, for example as ‘exotic and beautiful’- in my experience, she’s usually just described as ‘cute’.

Lol at the butthurt white girls in this comment section.
See, her comment was stupid because she’s slim because of her diet, not thanks to the Genetic Magic Fairy. But, going from that to complaining about “exotic beauties” in Hollywood it’s borderline racist and jealousy, IMO.
I thought she looked gorgeous at the Oscars

chris

she’s not that slim, I think she’s pretty, not gorgeous. i live in a very pre dominant Indian neighborhood and personally I think my neighbors often are prettier than her.

Im not sure what to make of her comment, since her body is pretty average to me. I mean, this is the kind of thing Gisele or somebody would say. If she was so genetically blessed, why does she look average? she’s slim, okay. lots of people are. she doesn’t have great proportions or good muscle tone.

Agatha

Agatha

I said ***I*** thought she looked gorgeous at the ***OSCARS***. That’s my opinion, I don’t know why you’re trying to convince me of thinking she’s less attractive. Does she make you feel that threatened?

Nobody should say that, not Giselle or this lady. Your weight depends highly on your eating habits and/or exercise. People that really can’t gain or lose weight usually have some type of disease or anomaly.

I think their point was that they’re embarrassed at hearing non-white actors as being repeatedly described as “exotic” because it’s kind of patronising – I don’t think they were trying to deny that she’s very attractive.

Spot on. By her neck and arms you can tell she is NOT fit. She is what I believe some people describe as “skinny-fat”.
She just doesn’t appear to have excess weight, but that turkey fat neck and jiggly arms are tell-tale signs of an untoned body & one that is at risk for unattractive weight gain.

Very pretty, but it’s also very evident she doesn’t exercise. Which, I mean, it’s not bad, I simply do not prefer it. I’m not going to start discussing the health benefits of exercise, we all know we are here for the aesthetics only.

She is cookie-cutter pretty, she’s not exotic looking to me. Reminds me a bit of Selena Gomez: button nose, full lips, almond-shaped eyes, round face shape.

She’s pretty though! I don’t think you need to be exotic to be pretty. Whatever. It’s all silliness and doesn’t matter. She looks like a pretty actress type.

L O L . I call bull*. She may not give a crap about exercise, but she surely isn’t “hiding with her burger”.

I don’t get the “i’m naturally thin/genetically blessed, so I don’t need to work out”-comments at all. I hear it all the time, and it doesn’t make sense to me. I work out for general health, not to lose weight or stay thin.

Mae
Guest

Exactly. Especially since Indians are susceptible to diabetes at a lower BMI, in large part due to being skinny-fat from bad lifestyle (exercise and diet). Having Indian genes in a society where many people think exercise is only for overweight people doesn’t seem like that much of a blessing . .

Mel
Guest

I think she is genuinely beautiful, but most people who say they eat whatever they want and don’t exercise are either lying or simply have modest appetites and prefer light foods. Most are lying. Maybe she’s not- I could believe Priyanka doesn’t exercise strenuously.

I’m 39, my second child is 7 months old and I’m 7 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight which is 57 kilos, so rather slim. No secrets except for long walks, some weight lifting and eating healthily. Haven’t rushed the weight loss which ferls good as my body is well in synch.

I feel like she’s not as fit or “genetically blessed” as SHE thinks she is. Narcissism is such an ugly thing. She may be good looking, yes, but she comes off as being quite infatuated with herself and also lazy af. All you did was get a little lucky in the gene pool, get over yourself geez.

I know this article is kind of old, but just want to out my two cents in. I am an Indian and find her statement very stupid. Being thin vs being fit are different. I work out and have almost the same body as her. No, not everyone with Indian-genes are “blessed” with being skinny. I am happy she is expanding her career overseas since she is kinda overrated in India. She is gorgeous, but her makeup team isn’t doing her justice.
