Pregnant Drew Barrymore: “I just eat everything I want, which isn’t healthy”

On her pregnancy cravings:

‘The [craving] with Olive was tamales. Anything tamale. I love tamales. With this little lovely lady it’s like pan-fried noodles from any Chinese restaurant. I drive by them and I fantasise about them. I find myself like pulling over a lot for food. Like the car just goes off the lane and over to the restaurant.’

On pregnancy weight:

‘I just eat everything I want, which isn’t healthy. I’m bigger this time than my first time. My doctor the other day was like, ‘Yeah, so I think maybe pull back. A little bit.’ I was like, really? I thought I was doing great. I still fit into those jeans – they hurt when I wear them — but I still fit into them. I don’t ever pose, ‘I’m just so fabulous and I lose it like that.’ I want to enjoy the pasta right now! What’s 10 lbs?’

… says 38 year-old Drew.

More of her next!

  1. Looking at her face and legs, and considering that she’s pregnant, she looks slim (and lovely – there’s something so “friendly” about her appearance, it makes me want to get to know her), which leads me to think that when she says “isn’t healthy” and talks about gaining weight, I think she’s talking from the viewpoint of someone who normally eats very healthy and who considers noodles “unhealthy”. Everyone has different standards. Some people consider vegetables diet food, with everything better than fried chocolate outside the unhealthy zone. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, just that I think Drew Barrymore seems more like the “salad = normal, fried noodles = special occasion” kind of gal.

  2. the problem with overeating is that it’s addicting..the more you overeat the more you fill like desperately wanting food some times in a day. fortunately, seems that undereating a little for some weeks turns the hunger off..but with me it works only if I undereat one day and eat regular the second, and then undereat a bit again.

    • Definetly agree, u like lose Control if you did One Eat a takeaway and later Fake and also Dinner tuen u always want to Eat like this

  3. I hear you on the tamales. Red chile beef tamales are delicious lol.

My food fantasy includes an apocalypse where I’m forced to raid a grocery store to survive. I get in and head straight to the bakery section. All the cakes, pies, donuts, muffins, etc. fall into my clutches. I eat them all at once like i never have before. In the name of survival of course.

  4. She’s great!!I think the same! You have to enjoy being pregnant, that’s the best time in every woman’s life!!!I ate everything I want,I enjoyed pregnacy! That 10 kg is nothing! You’ll loose it if you want to!

  5. I don’t know what it feels like to be pregnant, so I’m not even going to pretend. I am sure the cravings can be overwhelming, and I will just leave it at that. I know that when I crave something, no amount of knowledge in the world about how unhealthy it is will stop me from getting it.

That said, she looks so freaking happy in every single picture. And not just fake happy, but genuinely happy. Every time I see a picture of her lately I notice I get a goofy grin on my face, because you cannot look at her and not want to smile.

OK – that’s enough cheese for today.

    • True, she’s puppies and rainbows straight up.
I think she looks good as always and despite the fashion critics, I like her quirky style.
      I bet she’s a great mom too.

      • I think her preg style waaay better than her reg style…by general attractiveness AND specifically how they flatter her body.
the black dress pic…is prob in the top 10 best pics of her ever.
And yes her smile is radiant…need my shades

    • I’m sure it differs for everyone but when I was pregnant i did’t find the cravings any different than pre-pregnancy cravings. That being said, i’ve always had food cravings where i get something in mind that i want and i won’t stop wanting it until i have it. Right now it’s pancakes and feta cheese that i want (separately). And tmi but during pregnancy you’re more prone to constipation (ew) so i’m not sure it would be wise to over indulge. I made sure to include veggies and fruits daily, along with lots of water and limited junk.

    • Ha ha Mia I agree with everything you say – Drew is cool, I can’t help but like her. She seems like a warm person.

I agree about the cravings. My God, TTOM for me and I’m a monster. NOTHING will stop me. It’s awful!!!

  6. I think she looks perfect for being pregnant… not big in any sense of the word, but not worrying about her weight too much.. she’s probably comparing herself to gwyneth et al. She’s got nothing to worry about though, she’s lovely and glowing!

  7. All of this stuff makes me afraid of pregnancy lol. I don’t know anything about pregnancy but I would wonder if what you eat affects the baby?? That would be my only concern but I don’t know if that’s even a thing.

Love Drew though! Always been a fan.

      • ?? Um I’ve never been pregnant/have any friends who have been pregnant and do not intend on having children for a while. So no, I am smart when it comes to certain topics… pregnancy is just not one of them! No need to be unnecessarily hostile!

And I do believe its reasonable to assume that what you eat affects the baby; if AFS is a thing that messes up unborn children then it could be plausible that eating horrible food could have an effect on your child as well.

        • What you eat definitely affects the growing baby; nutrition is important. But it also affects your body; the growing fetus will take what it needs. For example if you arent consuming enough calcium during pregnancy the fetus will take calcium from your bones; so nutrition is important to protect your body and health too.

I didnt find the pregnancy cravings any stronger than regular food cravings. Sometimes i craved pomegranates or citrus fruits, so not all cravings will be for junk food. Pregnancy eating habits probably just reflect your personal relationship with food.

          Hope that helps 🙂

          • My mum craved oranges! My friend’s mum craved bread soaked in vinegar! ha ha ewww!!! Anyway, I think your last comment makes a lot of sense about pregnancy reflecting your personal relationship with food! I hope I get my relationship with food sorted out well before I ever get pregnant. lol.

Oh, and regarding the smart thing. I’m sure Miss Marilyn has plenty of smarts ;o). We can’t all be Einstein in all areas. Plus, imo being smart has nothing to do with anything. Some people are, some aren’t. I think smart is more about your ability to think critically, as opposed to knowing all information. I also think it has a lot more to do with emotional intelligence and dealing with issues and empathising with others. Anyhoo…don’t feel like you need to know everything about everything to be smart Miss Marilyn! Or feel like you have to prove your intelligence to anyone, intelligent people can see when another has it in them too ;o)

          • hehe thank you for that solaxia ^.^

And oh man bread soaked in vinegar sounds absolutely awful… I hope I never get cravings like that 😛
And thanks @wonderwoman21!! It is reassuring to hear that not all cravings are for unhealthy foods and that for some people they aren’t incredibly severe!

          • I can only agree on this! I didn’t really have cravings during my pregnancy. I think you just listen more carefully to your body during that time and tend to give yourself more excuses e.g. “the baby wants ice cream”. So, I was pretty honest with myself and therefore continued my regular healthy lifestyle as before and gained all in all only 11 kg.

          • Same here, i was able to maintain my regular lifestyle. I gained 28 lbs., not sure how to convert lbs to kgs. or vise versa
