All the details from ET Online:

The 43-year-old actress went from 172 pounds to 126 pounds after giving birth to her daughter Elizabella 16 months ago, thanks, in part, to the Atkins low-carbohydrate diet (she is 5’2”).

“I feel so much better than I did before it’s crazy,” Milano told ET. “You know that feeling when you’re dieting where your stomachs growling and you’re angry and moody? There’s none of that, because you’re getting fats and proteins. It’s great!

With two young children at home (Milo, 4, and Elizabella, 1), dropping the weight makes it easier for her to keep up with her growing family with husband Dave Bugliari. She opened up about what motherhood has been like for her.

“Every aspect is amazing,” she gushed. “I looked at Milo’s feet the other day. He’s got these two toes that cross each other, and I was looking at my husband’s feet. Those are where those toes came from!”

One aspect that has been particularly rewarding for Milano is being able to breastfeed.

“It’s been a joyous time to be able to feed them,” she said.

The actress has come under fire for posting pictures of herself breastfeeding, but she considers the practice to be a beautiful thing.

“It is just an amazing process that my body is giving her nourishment,” she said. “Women — we are the most perfect machine ever made.”

As much as she enjoys using her body to feed her children, Milano cleared up the misconception that breastfeeding helped her lose weight.

“I don’t know who started that myth, but breastfeeding to me makes it harder,” she said.

  1. She looks great, happy and healthy, but those dresses are awful and ridiculously unflattering on her figure. Is her stylist blind?

  2. The fat check from endorsement deals also tends to help with moodiness and anger, too. Not that I begrudge it of Alyssa, but you just obviously take paid endorsements with a grain of salt.

She’s obviously lost a lot of weight in the magenta dress pics, but it’s terribly unflattering. It’s matronly and boxy and makes Alyssa appear to have no waist. Kudos on the weight loss though.

    • what seems off about them? I think people on this site tend to underestimate weight (every celeb is described as less than 120 lbs). 5’2 126 sounds normal based on how she looks, not skinny, not fat.

  3. I adored her in Charmed. So, so pretty and she had such an amazing body.

I don’t think she looks that good in those pictures above though. She needs to go for a more natural make up look and a different hairstyle…. And different dresses…. She really is a natural beauty.

  4. atkins is not good!!. At the very least, you need some high carbohydrate days in between the low carb days to keep your hormone levels somewhat normal. If you just eat low carb, low carb, low carb your hormones and metabolic processes will be shot and though you may have shed the weight quickly, it will also come back quickly. Atkins is ridiculous, and it doesn’t work.

    • Atkins does work, but it is highly dangerous. Eating almost no carbs, your body has to burn mostly fat for the tissues to generate energy. That’s how you lose weight on Atkins. Atkins is too strict. Atkins leads to hyperuricemia, colon cancer and arteriosclerosis from high cholesterol levels. People with endocrine problems should completely stay away from that, you could end up in a hospital. There was a case of a person who almost died because of hypokaliemia caused by high ketone levels. Low carb is a good natural way to cure diabetes (type 2), high blood pressure, overweight, high cholesterol, sugar cravings, bad sleep and so on. But only if it is done moderate. Around 75-120 grams of carbs per day is fine, but everybody needs to find his own limits. Thyroid hormones drop during low carb diets, this might influence the dosage a thyroid patient needs. Atkins is absolutely forbidden for persons with hypothyroidism, but moderate low carb is perfect for a lot of them to control weight gain and to prevent all types of metabolic disorders, common in hypothyroidism. So it’s better to go for a plant based Paleo or Logi method.

  5. The breastfeeding thing is totally not a myth, it’s just different for different women. Some women tend to retain while breastfeeding because their body is holding on to the fat but I know for me I was the tiniest I’ve ever been and I ate a lot more calories to keep up with my kids caloric needs as well as my own, you burn a lot when you’re nursing.

  6. OMG! She is looking perfect after giving birth. Her body shape shows that how she maintain body after giving birth. It’s because of her hard work other wise after giving birth to baby its hard to maintain body. By the way she is looking hot in all pictures and dress sense we never miss mark it. God bless baby and Milano.
