On how super skinny models should not be banned from the runway:

“I think it would be radically unfair to say if you’re a size zero, then you can’t work, just like it’s unfair to say that if you’re a size 16, you can’t work. I’m naturally really thin, and sometimes it’s really hard for me to gain weight. When people on Instagram say, ‘Go eat a hamburger,’ I’m like, ‘Wow, they’re body-shaming me for the way I look.’”

WOW such BS. I remember watching My Bloody Valentine in 2009 and recognizing her only halfway through the movie because she had gained so much weight and dyed her hair brown. Girl please.

She has a child now so she’d better get her act together and stop wasting her time defending kim kardashian and trolling on instagram about how it’s hard to gain weight when you naturally look like a model.

I do believe she’s naturally thin, but not this skinny, and her face kind of shows it. I mean for christ’s sake the woman is 38 and appears to be in her late 40’s. As for the ban, it’s more about the fact that you don’t want to have extremes on the runaway because it kind of represents illness. I’m not saying that there aren’t people who are naturally a size zero, but that’s definitely a tiny minority. Besides you don’t see a lot of models like Tess Holiday on the runway, do you? Not to mention the fact that… Read more »

I know, it is bs. She’s 38 and looks like she is in her 20’s, early 30’s.. When women are over weight, obese, we are supposed to accept them and tell them to be proud of their bodies. But when women work hard to eat right, be active, stay healthy, they are told to eat a burger … Usually by women who are unhealthy and over weight. Certainly a double standard…

Good for her!

This girl is not one of those “healthy” women you’re talking about.

Ari

Lol 20s?

Lynn

Exactly! People should wake up, in modern world statistically speaking nobody dies from being too thin and millions die from obesity. And yet it’s still okay to continue this double standard bullshit.

I think she always looks 45 and I like skinny I don’t think it’s right look for her frame… Kate bosworth has a frame where she looks good thin, Nicole Richie, Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Kruger, Keira knightly all look great Jamie looks like she need 10 pounds

20’s ? Her you on her pay roll ? She looks like she is in her mid 40’s and not a day younger.

Really 20’s? She looks like she’s in her late 40’s. She’d look so much better, and younger, if she put just 10 pounds on.

She looks like a walking skeleton though, even thinner than a couple of months ago. And knowing how she has struggled with addiction and seeing her go up and down with her weight, I don’t believe for a second that she is naturally this thin or healthy. About the ban, it’s stupid. If you will let obese women run around on the catwalk, same goes for the other end. I am all for health, but who am I to say that a size 0 or a size 16 woman can’t be healthy? Who says that a size 8 woman is… Read more »

Completely agree with you on the age ban. Their bodies are still developing yet they are selling adult clothing and they simply cannot cope when they physically change and are tossed aside by the industry they thought cared.

The justification for size zero/pubescent girls is uniformity. The more similar their bodies, the easier it is to design clothes that fit. Designers want girls who have had a vertical growth spurt (5’10”-6′, +/- 1″) but have not yet grown horizontally, i.e. wider pelvis, larger breasts, and estrogen-driven fat deposits on the lower stomach, hips, butt and thighs–literally the physical manifestations of womanhood. (Fun fact: that region of the lower body is where women store the omega-3 fatty acid DHA, which is essential for fetal and infant brain development, which is why it is often the last place to shrink… Read more »

It’s not equiparable. This woman is acting like eating disorders don’t exist. The weight the fashion industry has on them is undeniable. It’s not body shaming to project a healthier image. They do project an image that million of women want to imitate, and they shouldn’t be doing it. I can bet no woman is looking at Tess Holliday thinking “I should gain weight to be as beautiful as her”. It’s not the same thing at all. And she doesn’t look healthy, people like her talking about weight and health just scream ED to me.

No one can say if she has an eating disorder. However Tess Holiday clearly without a doubt has an eating disorder. Tess will likely die prematurely from heart disease or even a combination of ailments. Jamie, while thin, will likely out live most women her age (and younger than her age) naturally. It’s shaming because people are attacking thin and healthy people for being too thin, but being overweight and obviously unhealthy is “beautiful”. Luckily the fashion industry does not promote being overweight, but there is a new movement which is and seems to be trying to influence the fashion… Read more »

Out live ? Do you see the future ? I’m now convinced that either she is the one posting comments defending herself and her eating disorder using nonsensical syllogism since her career isn’t all that busy. Or she is paying someone to do so.

Idk, she is totally skinny. I would say she looks like sha has some problems, but than again, may arms tend to look really tiny as I sometimes do, but I dont have a problem.
That been said – she doesnt look like she is small framed or “built” that way so Id say she has some wrong self body perception. :-/

I’m so sick and tired of the word “shaming” being misused all the time. If someone doesn’t like something, they’re shaming it. Forget having preferences, you’re not allowed to do that anymore. Oh wait, now I’m shaming preferences. My mistake.

I think she’s used the term correctly in this instance.

I agree.. Yes people need to get thicker, but I understand why she is upset. Its okay to put someone down because they are too healthy, take care of themselves, and happen to be skinny. But if you are overweight and obviously unhealthy to very unhealthy, you can’t say anything about them. Heck in general, it is more healthy to be underweight than to be overweight. Heart disease is one of the leading cause of death and this almost always stems from eating disorders where you eat too much.

well she’s trying to back track on our assess now! She used to admit she has an eating disorder and ate “like a toddler”, now she’s naturally thin? At least keep your story straight sis, you look malnourished.

So sad, she’s obviously in denial about her disorder.

ana

Like, yeah. For sure. That is TECHNICALLY right. The problem is that the industry has a significant percentage of size 00-2 girls, who are NATURALLY 4-12. and THAT’s the issue. Like, yeah if you are a 00 and are happy and healthy, you f~~~~~~ GO. but there is a lot of actual 8’s and 10’s and 6’s and larger that will pass as a 0 on diet coke, cigarettes, and cocaine. “The industry is getting less strict on its thin standard” really only applies to supermodels. Like, supermodels have more room for curves, because they are the ones that get… Read more »

Wow, now she’s claiming to be “naturally” thin, when in the past she’s talked about her eating disorder and the fact she still only eats little snack bags of pretzels like a todler.

…though she really looks like she could use a burger :/
I’m not here to body shame, but it’s clear when someone isn’t looking healthy and it’s not that she’s “just” skinny, she’s worn out, her skin has that grayish tone, her hair looks opaque, her veins are showing almost all the way up to her upper arms, and she is a public figure. She can’t deny a little bit of social responsibility because she is a role model in a way or another.

Ari

Well I agree with her to an extent about the double standard but she is too thin and I don’t believe she is naturally so

the brain uses more energy than any other organ. clearly, hers is in starvation mode (ie. not functioning to its full potential). plus she has admitted to being a h~~~~~ addict and having an ED in the past. but now that’s translated into “oh im just naturally emaciated.” i hope she overcomes for her sake and that of her kids.

In my opinion she is too thin

Benedetta

I agree that some people are very rude with thin girls like if being thin is a fault or a bad thing. It’s true that people in general are more kind with overweight girls than model-like bodies. But this girl is in total denial about her condition. She’ s not naturally skinny. I really don’t understand celebrities claiming to be naturally so thin when the entire world has seen them heavy or heavier. They believe we are all stupid.

Overeating is just as “unnatural” as undereating
