Jessica Alba: “I was a lot more critical of my body when it was probably pretty awesome”

albahealth1 - Jessica Alba: "I was a lot more critical of my body when it was probably pretty awesome"

On how her body image has changed:

“I was a lot more critical of my body when it was probably pretty awesome. It’s like, why did I not ever wear jean shorts? That’s so crazy. I was so skinny! I didn’t have any cellulite…what was I thinking?! I was more willing to wear short skirts after I had my kids. I never wore them before. Ever. I was so self-conscious. But I remember I was 28 or 29, at an MTV award thing, and my girlfriend Kelly was like, ‘You should wear a short skirt, because you are not going to be this age forever.’ Now I’m a lot more confident in my skin–because who cares? At the end of the day, it’s so much time spent on something that really doesn’t matter that much.”

… says mom-of-two Jessica in Health Magazine.

I’m looking forward to this magical moment when you turn 30/have children and suddenly gain confidence. 6 more years to go!!

Well I’m there now and I must say that turning 30 one really gains confidence.(I don’t understand why…it’s like it comes from nowhere)Anyway please try to gain this confidence now and do everything you want now.Don’t wait another 6 years :D.
As for Jessica…she looks great and her children are so sweet.

i got the splurge of confidence when I turned 30 a couple of months ago. I realized that I’m not a young woman anymore. I’m a fully fledged adult. My body will start to deteriorate soon and life is too short. I’ve got get over stuff and start living.

People always say that turning 30 changes you and it’s true. I turned 30 six months ago and I’m just now finally feeling confident and loving my body. I take care of myself and could really care less about what other people think.

LOL. Love that movie. I watch it every single time it’s on…it’s just a guilty pleasure.

hahaha, well it’s hard to pinpoint an exact “magical moment”. I just feel like every passing year, I feel more and more comfortable with my self…it’s not like some amazing transformation happened at 30, but I am much happier now at 34, than I ever was at 24.

If I was happily married with a family I might feel that way. Instead I’m on the verge of 30 & every spot of cellulite is making me paranoid. I too didn’t appreciate my body when younger, although I did wear shorts. The only improvement is I have a bit more b❆❆bs now, but I’d gladly give them up for my old butt (and I’m still quite thin, like Alba). I think I’m more confident in my personality now though; I like myself more even if I’m not as crazy about my body.

Well, that’s really good and healthy for her! It’s all about perspective I guess..

She still is outstanding as daylight! Such a beautiful beautiful woman! One of my all time favourite body types, especially in Sin City. Very few actresses can actually rival Jessica’s pout. I guess Scarlett and Jessica win that competition. Honor looks really adorable in all images

I love this and I agree with her. Everyone’s heard the quote, “I wish I was as “fat” as I was when I was 17″ hahah 😉

I don’t believe in the “i hit (insert an age here) and suddenly became confident” but agree with her about having regrets about not realizing your own beauty when you had it and instead waste that precious time&nerve cells on these worries that really are so insignificant, so many women experience that. Also i know lot of us when look at a beautiful girl think that if/when she expresses having insecurities then she’s just whiny/attention craving/asking for a compliment, lots here say it bout Alba, however the fact that someone is considered beautiful by lots of people and constantly told… Read more »

I am 35 years old and not married but I feel more confident now than when I was 25. Why? Because I don’t care about what people think about me especially men! When I was 25, I was so aware of my weak points and I wanted to be perfect (weight, hair, skin)! One day I realize that I will never be perfect and if guys don’t like the way I am, they don’t deserve my attention…

Yep, I agree! I am 27 now and feel that way…when I was younger I was sooo worried about what the boys thought of me! So silly. I was so worried that my butt was too big or my dancers thighs too juicy and I was all of an Australia size 6-8 (I think thats a US 2-4). Now, I am heavier than this by probably 2-3 sizes (working on cutting it down) but I just wear whatever I want and couldn’t give a rats if a guy is looking at my jiggly butt and disliking it because I like… Read more »

She sounds likeable. What she’s saying is a typical Hollywood-Mom quote, but the way she’s wording it makes it seem very genuine. I remember my mom, my aunt, … telling me that confidence comes with age and a woman’s best years are her thirties because she most likely knows who she is, what she wants, she has accomplished a lot, … I’m really looking forward to it. I’m done with my teens, the 20s will be fun, but I notice that a lot of confidence comes from the experiences you make, so I can’t wait to reach that point Alba… Read more »

Totally, totally love this quote. I cared so much about how I looked from the age of about 11-26. It was more important than anything else in my life because I was weirdly convinced that if I could become ‘perfect’ then all those other aspects of life would resolve themselves. I think as you get older you’re able to see that this isn’t true – who you are and what you do are the most important determinants of how you feel. How you look does and will always affect how others treat you, it’d be foolish to deny that. But… Read more »

Well, i’m 23 and i couldn’t care less about what strangers might think about my appearance. I only care for people I sexually desire and my friends/family. Am I weird? Well, i guess i would feel a bit embarrassed if i had to show my 3-months-unshaved legs in public 😛

I’m much more confident now (33) than in my 20’s. It didn’t happen overnight, but now I feel proud of my career, my job, the travelling I did, my accomplishments in general, whereas before (specially when I was very young) I felt that I could only rely on my looks, in other areas I felt so naive and “stupid”, so lacking for a better word. Now when I look in the mirror I take into consideration all the things I can *do* instead of just how I look (and I look pretty great !!! Hahah, but serioously, I’ve got a… Read more »

Awesome is right. Constellation Taurus realy
smiles on the female gender too as is obvious
w/Jessica. Though Village Roadshow pictures
did a sequel TV series staring Australian citizens
after original 1995 series Flipper she co starred
in, that was also great too…There’s never been
anything to top the original Flipper, all it’s crew,
it’s family oriented theme music. I’m sure even
Flipper would agree. EhEhEhEhEhEhEhEhEh.
See… Fish IS brain food.

When I was 22-23 and probably in the best shape of my life I still didn’t have the confidence to wear a bikini in public but now at 27 I don’t really give a ff— what anyone else thinks and I happily let it all hang out on a recent holiday…I just looked around and saw girls much bigger than me wearing bikinis at the beach/pool parties and thought if they don’t give a ff— then neither should I

So that’s why she was in a bikini/played a stripper in every movie… Jessica is a very pretty woman and I’m sure she’s a nice person in real life. But I have never liked any of her quotes, that she hates her cellulites and her wide hips, or that every other actress is so much prettier then her. She is known for looking pretty, not for her talent or acting skills.

oh the stretch marks, cellulite, giving birth takes a toll on your body. but I cant see anything bad on her body, shes a smoking hot woman. people told my eldest sister she was going to get big like my mom, nonsense. she looks after herself, its all about respecting your body, exercise eat well.

Mel

Why is she constantly talking about her body ?

When you have porkers in your family, you will always worry about becoming fat. Thats why shes obsessed with her body, & her bod made her famous, doh!! Damn sexy!!

i kind of believe her…iet wen she was 21 and beautiful she was looking in the mirror calling herself fat when she was deemed the most perfect girl in the world…..she still is pretty genetically perfect

1) I find her so annoying.
2) The cover photo is SO photoshopped it’s embarrassing. For someone who, as she says, is already skinny and clearly tries to maintain the appearance of a healthy body, giving her the waist of a victoria’s secret model and a jessica biel butt is just so unbelievable. Also, it’s not like we’ve never seen jessica in other clothes before. She’s thin, she’s pretty, but c’mon, that is not her body.

If I had to guess, I’d say shhe was being critical about the globs of fat on the sides of her hips, as well as that butt of herrs that hangss perrpetually low and allows the viewer to act. View her butt fr. The front. Weirdness on this ones lower half, not a fan.

This site April 8th 2013 had that bikini post on her where you can see what I mean, she basiically looks like she is carrying around a load of ahum ssomething in her bikini bottoms. But, trying to be positive, she has good strong bone strcture in her face and it is pretty, I just cant get past her lower region.

just f off. such a negative opinion on such a pretty lasy, damn! what globs of fat? she’s freaking perfect! unless you consider walking skeletons attractive, which i’m sure you do!

This is 100% true. I look at pictures of myself from when I was in my twenties and say I looked so great why was I so insecure. I wish I had the confidence in my twenties that I have now. There is such a freedom that comes from having confidence.

megg

I totally agree. I was not confident until I was in my late 20’s. Im 29 almost 30, and I am pregnant, and have never been more confident about my body than I am now, and I was a professional dancer and personal trainer. That was when i was the most critical of myself too.
