Kelly Osbourne: “I figured out there is no such thing as perfection”

On body image:

When you change your body, you start to get selfish. You’re like, ”Oh, but that’s still fat and that’s still gross and why can’t I look like that?” To stop myself I have to look at how far I’ve come. I’ve learned how to eat right and look after myself. Also, I don’t weigh myself. If you like what you see in front of the mirror, then what’s the f**king point of getting on a scale?’

It’s OK to have a healthy envy and look up to somebody and set goals, but you have to realize that you’re never going to be exactly that person. Wishing you were Angelina Jolie or J.Lo isn’t going to change the fact that you’re not. Why not start working with what you do have instead of what you don’t?’

I figured out there is no such thing as perfection. If I had known that earlier, I wouldn’t have been such a f–k up. The only thing I can be is me. I’m not perfect. I make mistakes. And my body is not perfect, either, but I love it. It will never be perfect but I do not want it to be. That’s so boring!’

… says Kelly in Self Magazine.

More pictures of her next!

  1. I love this! I’ve been there, striving for perfection and telling my self I’m not good enough, but it must be amazing when you reach the point where you just accept yourself and everything else can just go f*ck it self, I wish I get there someday 🙂 kudos for her

  2. Her job requires her to insult people so I don’t take her comments seriously. She is saying don’t strive for perfection but she isn’t kind on her show to those who are not perfect.

    • Ironic that we do the same thing every time we post here. There’s nothing wrong with saying Nicole kidmans Dior dress is ugly. Stop criticsizing unless you’re perfect, which nobody is.

      • I have seen her show too. She has insulted people for more than not liking their outfit. I remember her insulting an actress for her age. I am not perfect but I also don’t preach self acceptance.

    • I don’t watch her show that much, but I’ve caught a few segments when my roommate was watching it and I have to disagree. I remember nearly all of her comments were qualified, “so and so looks terrible in that dress; it makes her look fat. She is normally so beautiful, but this was a terrible choice.” Or, “she is young and vibrant and so pretty, but the dress isn’t flattering and really ages her.”

Unless I’ve seen the few rare instances when she was nice, I found her to as complimentary as possible while critiquing how someone looks.

  3. she looks so good! I’m proud of her for maturing and getting out of that hideous trend in the 90s she used to do. When she was bigger she would hate on every girl, like christina, and now she is one of the skinny blondes now.

  4. She looks much better than she used to, but she still comes off like a spoilt a-hole to me most of the time! Her quote is good, but nothing ground-breaking – I would hope most of us would realise there is no such thing as perfection very early on! But she probably grew up closer to it than most of us do – the world of the super-rich and celebrity with all the cosmetic tricks and emphasis that comes with it. Has to mess up your expectations really.

  5. Her body looks good but I’m not a fan of her hair, especially in the red dress photo (looks so sloppy). In the last pic where it’s lavender it looks better. Must get annoying to keep dyeing it purple.

  6. I think she is slightly below average. Her hair is chemically abused, not just treated. Her facial features & bone structure are average. Her height, weight & overall muscle development, or lack there of, are typical. Her fingernails are long, that hasn’t been in style since the 19 hundred & 80’s…the clothes…it’s obviously her style, not mine. I’d say she’s a 5.

    • Reading this in 2018 made me LOL.. most of the young celebs now have looooong finger nails thanks to Kylie (or maybe it was Kelly Osborne who started the trend! Lol)

  7. She’s under contract from her show to keep her purple-grey hair, she said in an interview that she’d love something different. I think she’s hilarious (love me some UK humor) and as someone already said, her comments on the show are usually relevant (remember only joan rivers is truly horrible of the cast). She also seems really down-to-earth considering her crazy upbringing. I like the quote and I’m proud of how far she’s come. Took a while for her to mature, but now she seems great!

    • Joan is definitely the one who says the worst things but Kelly laughs her butt off the whole time. How does that make her any better? Someone who actually belives what she is saying wouldn’t laugh at Joan calling people fat/ ugly/ stupid/s—ty. At least Joan is honest about bei ng a mean girl.

      • Kelly does what everyone else who watches the show does, so we could equally target the audience. I actually find joan hilarious most of the time. Yes she’s a b—, and I don’t necessarily agree with everything she says, but f—-g funny. And often times people laugh at the absurdity of Joan’s comments, not their truthfulness.

  8. I like those quotes, because I relate. “Perfection doesn’t exist, just be yourself, you can’t be someone else”, it sounds obvious, but it’s not just about knowing those things, you have to *feel* them. Like her, I feel that if I had felt that earlier, I would have been a much healthier and happier person.

  9. From before to now she looks amazingly improved!! This might be the body she’s best able to maintain and I think she dresses it well to appear even slimmer. She’s a very real girl and I think the purple hair is just her effort to be unique

  10. Her body is looking great and she looks way better than she use too but I just don’t think she is attractive maybe because she always look older than her age to me.

  11. i agree that there’s no such thing as perfection, but it’s just hard for me to accept. it’s just part of who i am to always want to be better, and it’s probably what drove me to this point in the first place. i mean life in general, not really image.

i’m still recovering, but hopefully one day, or soon i’ll be able to live in peace with a balanced life.

  12. True words, she seems lovely and down to earth. A pretty good role model in my eyes since she dropped her bratty image.

Is it just me or is she one of those fat skinny people? Like no matter if she wears a size 6 (uk) she’s still going to look chubby because of her face/limbs?

  13. She looks gorgeus and she def has come a long way. She seems to be very down to earth and nice, despite how she was in the Osbournes, but she was a teenager then 😀
