Zendaya Got Photoshopped by Modeliste Magazine: “These are the things that make women self-conscious”

zendaya-102115-1 - Zendaya Got Photoshopped by Modeliste Magazine: "These are the things that make women self-conscious"

Singer/actress Zendaya, who is already model-thin, was unnecessarily photoshopped by Modeliste Magazine (check out the waist and especially the hip area above) – and the 19 year-old beauty made sure to set the record straight by publishing the unretouched photo:

Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated. These are the things that make women self-conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self-love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it.

  1. I think it’s super impressive that this young lady has the wisdom to make this comment…but honestly if you don’t stand up for photoshop and extreme beauty ideals then don’t be in the number 1 industry that promotes them?

  2. Look, this is obviously horrible but she’s only doing this to get her name in the papers again. Just like when she made a big fuss over nothing about that Rancic woman’s comment. Knowing her and her father, This is almost surely a pre planned ploy to get more attention for this d list actress.

    • Fuss over nothing? They said that her dreads made her look like she smoked weed. That’s a horrible thing to say about anyone, let alone a teenage actress with a decent reputation.

      • Um first of all, it was a joke. Second of all- it was just about her hair. And third, how on earth is that a horrible thing to say about anybody? Saying you look like a big fat pig is a horrible thing to say, saying your hair looks like it smells like weed? And anybody who’s not paranoid about racism knows it had nothing to do with race.

        • And on top of that they never said she looked like she smelled like weed–when I watched the bit that caused the big ado about nothing, I assumed they were saying she looked like she smelled like patchouli (though, frankly, that might be more of an insult depending upon your feelings about patchouli).

  3. She’s beautiful and looks much better unphotoshopped. I like her hair experiments. She looks older than 19 to me, and also wiser. Or maybe I’m just surprised because I’ve come to expect every 19-y-o celebrity acts like a kardashian.

  4. i feel like she should have just complained about the fact that they made her look worse. I have no problem with photOshop to be honest, but whoever did this did a terrible job. She looks way better in the original and I ussually prefer the photoshop version.

  5. Based on all the candids the retouched version is actually closer to what I’d expect her to look like. She looks loads thinner in all the other pictures.

  6. There are so much positivity from this young lady. I don´t know what she does but I´m really happy she´s being honest and spread these messages. There are a lot of curves pressure these days too

  7. I don’t really see an issue entirely with photoshoping in general. EVERY respectable photographer SHOULD be photoshoping any image they release. There is no excuse not to unless it is a live image. All professional cameras have the ability to store their images in raw format. In order to use this format, the professional photographer will import it into a photo editing tool to allow them to adjust the exposure, white balance, and other aspects of the image to make the image optimally. The photo could be too dark, too bright, the sun, the flash, the lack of flash, or the lighting in the room could cast the wrong color. Either the camera has to adjust it for you (like your iPhone) or you use software to do it on a raw image. However if you are a professional which SHOULD shoot in raw, you need photo software like Photoshop to do it.

As color is always subjective and dependent on your light source, you have to adjust the white balance. The untouched photo looks like it has the wrong white balance as she normally is darker and the image is very grey. Thus the photographer should have photoshoped that photo. However the artist did a lousy job and set the white balance unnatural in the final photo. I personally would not have made the photo that red. As for the retouching of her body, she looks very unnatural. I think this artist just did a real bad job and and should not have retouched her body as she looked better in the before photo.
