The real one looks much better!!!

western influence on afro-carribean culture.
Like how Brandy said she hasd an eating disorder.
Now wanting to be skinny is surplanting ‘booty’ culture for african-american artists that want to appeal to broader audiences, esp. european and asian

So true!! She already has fantastic legs, it’s sad that someone thought they weren’t ‘perfect’ enough. It’s so hard to fight nature and I’ve even fallen prey to the desire to lose my thick butt and thighs to look thin like caucasian women etc.

I hear ya.
i’m european, but I have quite the bum, which all my boyfriends liked, but I can’t stand it; Sorry, but jeans in stored were madecut for anglo girls 😛
I won’t be surprised to see an increase in eating disorders in latino and african-carribean backgrounds soon.. 🙁

Caribbean please ,Caribbean !! stop mentionning Caribbean peolpe like they are some kind of under african people .We are Caribbean first ,and remember everyone there doesnt have origins in africa !!! you don’t say irish-american culture or french-canadian culture ,you just say american or canadian culture .Remember it next time you refer to West Indians ,its better !!

oh dear. They destroyed her beautiful natural looks.

Very unnecessary!! She has great legs, they are toned and cellulite free. Why would they feel the need to make them thinner???? I will admit that the boots she’s wearing in the candids aren’t the most flattering as her legs would look even hotter in a shoe that doesn’t cut at the ankle.

it’s a shame, especially considering Rihanna is one of the healthiest celeb body role models out there; fit and toned and true to her natural shape. However, is it really a surprise anymore that everyone gets photoshopped?

llllol whyyy rihanna is perfectly thin i mean she has bigger thighs but that makes her dif from all the other stick thin people that are famous shes too pretty for this i dont get it.

Lol wow, they shaved like a whole extra person off of her.

Fake looks awful and its insulting to take her afro caribean figure and turn it into a european figure in some of the shots they’ve over exposed her to make her look lighter. This is disgusting she’s one of the most famous women in the world what idiot at Interview Magazine thought nobody woul notice. I’m not convinced Kanye West approved this feature and if he did he makes what he did to Taylor Swift look like a play ground squabble.

i dunno why the emaciated figure is considered “european” to you… sounds like u got a “hate whitey” attitude there

chechebelle
Guest
chechebelle

Sorry, but no.

Just because someone acknowledges that there is a prejudice in the media towards Caucasian elements doesn’t meant that person “hates whitey.”

I’m half Latina, so I can sort of see this argument from both sides. Some cultures pride themselves on being curvy, and others are typically less blessed. For some reason the fashion industry is decades behind the rest of the world when it comes to accepting diversity.

emilie
Guest
emilie

but im white and curvy and id much rather see rihanna’s natural figure than this photoshopped version (for the record so would my (white) boyfriend) i dont think its to do with race tbh 🙂

Sharen
Guest

“other are typically less blessed”? that’s quite subjective…

Cheles
Guest
Cheles

it has nothing to do with a “hate whitey” attitude, Cecil, it has to do with predominately , -as che che belle said so well, I’ll just rip her off 😛 – caucasian elements being the norm in an entire industry.

I agree here. I went to Barbados once (as I remember Rihanna is from Barbados) and there 99% girls were super curvy: big butts, big b❆❆bs and tiny waists. I am a white girl and I am considered “curvy” usually, but on Barbados I felt like a have no curves at all. They are just genetically blessed. And so womanly Rihanna body is, but here she does look like a thin Europenian one.

WHAT THE HELL? this makes me so angry. She is so gorgeous and they completely changed her body. She has thicker thighs, but hello that is totally healthy! In fact people with who store their fat on their thighs, butt and hips are generally considered to be less at risk of a lot of diseases. I have not stick thin thighs, and I’m sick of seeing every photo in magazines and the media photoshopped so people do. It’s so not necessary.

Leah
Guest
Leah

they didn’t just change her thighs, they changed the entire picture. her face looks way thinner in the first picture, not skinnier-thin, more like disproportionate-thin

Charle
Guest
Charle

They changed her body so much, I wouldnt be surprised if they just copied her head on some random models body.

WTF, Rhiannas shape is gorgeous as it is, but more importantly, her shape expresses power, energy, vigour, and this thin, photoshopped body only says pretty+fashionable. Nothing wrong with that, but thats not the main aspect of Rhianna.

K

Honestly, I don’t think it’s a job “well” done at all. I think it’s garbage. I WISH my thighs looked that strong!

Balthazar

5th one is wayyy too much but the 4th one is okay but still not good. her real one is way better. im not one to like her legs. but she looks great in these pictures , the real ones. so toned and fit. i forgot how nice her body can be. because i know it doesnt look like this all the time. i guess she works for it when she has something coming up. which is perfectly fine.

Ugh. Very silly. Aside from the excessive photoshopping I really like this shoot. And I love her fishtail braid on stage!

maria
Guest
maria

That could ve end up as a good shoot.

But it seems like they even changed her facial features….too let them appear more european??Not to mention that that is not her body at all.It s like they changed her completely,a whole different person.

And I will never understand why celebritieslet that happen-it s obvious that it s “photoshop till you drop” and just not her.
I would feel embarassed and angry.
Especially if it is like in that case-a paid shoot with a cover story about you.
It appears hypocritical, even if she wasn t hypocritical.

It kinda damages the image, doesn t it?Without intervening.

ff— photoshop!! i can see doing small imperfections like skin and whatnot, but seriously, that picture looks soo fake, it doesn’t look like the same person!! i blame that s— for most of the problems coming from the media today! 🙁 soo unfortunate

I’m over airbrushing. Why do celebrities approve these images of themselves that aren’t realistic?!

I love Rihanna but this is too much. And another magazine did this to her bff Katy too.

I hate this! She has such an amazing figure, I don’t understand why they found this necessary.. A small amount of photoshop wouldn’t be bad but this is beyond ridiculous. She looks horrible in those photoshopped pictures.

Jinx

Not bein snarky here, but can someone tell me where the photoshopping is w/ her facial features? I still see her (GORGEOUS) wide nose & full lips. I agree that the bodily photoshopping is ridic though. I mean Rihanna can WORK looks that are questionable (partly) b/c of her fabulous figure. LoL @ the idea of being able to fit the sample clothes but STILL having to be photoshopped in the editorial. I’m convinced that these higher ups in “the industry” especially want girls/women to hate their bodies. As my 3 year old niece would say, “it’s really kinda gross.”

lc

I can completely see photo shopping in her face, for one, it’s thinner. Like someone said above, her features look more European now somehow.

Of course they want to us to hate ourselves. That way we’ll go out and buy clothes and makeup and hair products and skin creams to make ourselves look better. The whole thing is disgusting.

PADME!!! EXACTLTY!!! why dont more people see this! Then we get brainwashed that this is the ‘ideal’ because society says so! It’s not true! The media is everyone AND ver influential…how else are they going to sell the makeup, the skin products, the tan, the solariums, the clothes, the surgery, the diet products, the magazines (we need these so we are reminded everyday what ‘perfection’ we are aiming for)…I think i fell in love with you over your comment! ha ha just kidding, but really i meet very few ppl who will look at it this way. Ignoring the photoshop, she should probably wear shorts or a skirt on stage. Rihanna is definitely a pear shape. I don’t think she can pull off the pantless look.

I thought it was VB in the black and white photo. She’s still very recognizable in the color photos, they just made her legs slimmer. That jumpsuit is the same one Blake Lively was wearing, it’s quite ugly though.

aimdawg
Guest

is this some kind of sick freaking joke?!?? seriously..first of all, she has lost a lot of weight recently/toned up, and she looks amazing. like yous aid @versus there is no reason to do this to her. second of all, when they did photoshop her, they literally made her look anorexic. like, literally very low bmi there. that is rediculous. I agree with lots of you who said that it pisses you off.

Where is Rihanna’s natural beauty in the photoshopped ones ?

She’s a great model! They way she positions her body in each shot is so professional and beautifully editorial– you would think she had a background as a professional model for many years. Photoshopped— of course, but the pictures are beautiful.

The “real” Rihanna looks amazing.

I really like how she’s so confident of herself and her body despite the way that media portrays that thin is better.

solaxia

i def prefer her natural! but i dont really get why ppl get so angry…i mean…i do get it but they photoshop EVERY magazine spread in mens and womens mags…to the max! they just photoshop them in slightly different ways…even everyones beloved VS and fashion models are photoshopped to the max…yep its sad but the more ppl are aware i think the happier ppl will be with their own looks

I think Rihanna has a very sexy body because she has some meat on her bones and with all that PS it looks really like nothing special and def not sexy at all.

emilie

i have similar legs to rihanna- probably disproportionately big but toned and muscular. but however much i exercise, my legs get bigger not smaller. theyre just always going to be thick. shes always been a body role model for me, this is so sad. just further proof that bodies like ours are not beautiful.

though I dislike Rihanna, in the title picture on the left I see healthy sexy well-built woman and on the left I see lollipop head pencil thin figure… What’s the appeal of that? Other photos aren’t that tragic but stitl…

I don’t like her (real) body, especially her legs. But that is just my opinion. The truth is, though, that she doesn’t like her figure either; otherwise, she would not have permitted this abnormal, distorting amount of photoshop….

Ellen

Celebrities generally don’t “permit” photoshop. And if she didn’t like her figure, I doubt she’d wear half of the outfits that she does. She looks fabulous.

Lexxa

This is stupid. They photoshop the hell out Latin or Afro-American women to make them look more Caucasian , and white girls use 10 lbs of dark foundation and fake tan+push up bras and buttpads just to look like this. Why try to look like someone else? And just imagine how a girl that heard her friend talking about how Rihanna has “fat thighs” after seeing this photos. If that happened to me a year ago i’d probably exercise 10 hours a day and starve myself for a whole week. And I bet I’m not the only one who acts/acted… Read more »

Rihanna looks better without photo shop.
I lover her legs. They don’t need to be any smaller.
They’re toned anyway. I like the fact that she’s got feminine curves and isn’t stick-thin. She looks great.
