Wow, i really like her body now that she’s not so skinny, she looks so much stronger and toned than before

Liz

Actually, she’s pretty flabby right now. Look at the flab on her arm. There was a time when she went to the gym daily and she was actually toned. Right now, she’s gained a lot of weight (for her) and she’s actually trying to hide all her flab with baggy clothes and her fake tan makes her appear more toned. That’s what her ‘new look’ comes down to and why she’s always tanned up a lot right now. She’s trying to hide her weight. I hope she gets back to the way she was and starts exercising again.

What flab?!? Are we looking at the same pictures?

All of them. In the second picture especially. You can see her flab jiggling on her arms.

I think you’re on the wrong site, this isn’t a pro ana forum

No. I’m on the right site. Her arms are not toned. They’re not thin, but certainly, anyone that knows about fitness knows that they are not toned.

‘Toned’ just means visible muscle tone. One is “toned” when they have low enough body fat for the contours of their muscles to be seen beneath their skin. Taylor has that. You can see her delts, triceps, quads, and calf muscles easily. It sounds like you associate ‘toned’ with low body fat, which is fine, but it’s not synonymous with the common understanding of what ‘toned’ means. As for your armchair psychoanalysis of Taylor, not gonna lie, I kiiiinda agree. I don’t think she’s *that* torn up about it though. She’s a pop star, not a Victoria’s Secret model or… Read more »

Agreed with Sisa, that is insane. She looked like a skeleton before, and now looks healthy and (most importantly) happy.

Liz

She never once looked like a skeleton. She looked thin and toned, at one point. I don’t recall her ever looking like a skeleton. She does not look happy at all right now. She’s a perfectionist and the fact that she is dressing horribly lately displays all the opposite from happy or healthy. She’s ashamed of her body which is why she’s been wearing huge clothes to cover it up. Being a perfectionist, she’s putting on her happy face and an “I don’t give a damn” attitude. She wants her fans to see her happy. Healthy? If she’s depressed and… Read more »

Look at the IG videos of her rehearsing the dance routine for her Delicate video. She’s wearing tight yoga pants and a crop top… Which debunks your theory of she is ashamed of her figure and wants to cover it up.
She looks healthy and happy. She gained weight because she stopped touring, and probably wasn’t as active and dedicated to the gym as before.

Liz

Thanks for pointing them out! I just checked them out. Her belly has certainly gotten bigger. Anyways, to address your comment. I think this proves my theory even more. Remember “Shake it off” her quirky dance moves were fully on display with very tiny outfits. I’m surprised she wore such a dress to cover her body during the actual music video. During “Shake it off” her body was on full display back when she was very thin. These are just rehearsals. I would imagine it’s super uncomfortable to dance in that dress. She does not look healthy or happy. There’s… Read more »

Maybe you’re right about her not being in very good shape, she’s gained some pounds and definitely looks softer, but i wouldn’t say she’s got “flab”, she’s still slim right now and i think she looks good. Honestly, i kinda like that she’s not so skinny right now because it shows she’s human.. she gives the image of being “perfect” and even a bit neurotic so having gained a bit of weight makes me think she’s in a good place, that ashe’s loosened up, that’s my opinion. Being a perfectionist myself i definitely get too skinny when not so happy

And by the way she looks sexier in this weight imho, but she’s gorgeous either way, right now or skinnier

Taylor swift is about as sexy as a bowl of oatmeal left out overnight and then placed under a discoball with no lights

Liz

I wouldn’t call her ‘thin’ but I never once said she’s overweight. Taylor is definitely not medically overweight. She’s big for Taylor Swift, however. I say that because Taylor is a perfectionist. She has always eaten well and exercised to stay thin and toned. And this amount of weight gain seems out of the blue for Taylor. I’m trying to understand why you think she’s happy? To me, she shows all the signs of unhappiness. She’s gained weight rapidly and a lot (once again, for being Taylor Swift). These are usually signs of unhappiness and is unhealthy. Overeating, losing interest… Read more »

I have found that when you are most happy about your body and the way you feel//look, that’s when you don’t feel the need to show it of because you don’t need the validation of others. She is getting older as well and perhaps she wants to change her image/brand and focus on other things than what she has been focusing on for so many years.

Liz

I have found the complete opposite to be true. When I gain weight or when my girlfriends do, we always try to hide it. I try to hide my belly or wear things underneath to make me look thinner. Taylor’s been doing that a lot lately. When she was thin, she’d always be dressed up in the most beautiful and elegant clothes too. Now, she’s dressed miserably. In one outfit, she was on a huge polka-dot sweater with a purple mini jacket. Horrible style but it covers her belly. She did change her style for her new album. I’ve been… Read more »

You need to work on yourself and your mindset. No, not every woman tries to hide her body when gaining weight. I’ve gained 10 lbs recently and I’ve never felt sexier in my life. And I know MANY women who feel the same way. Even women who work in the entertainment industry alongside celebrities.

Why would you – or anybody else – hide their body after a weight gain? Awful waste of energy. If you have an ED, I suggest you seek help. If not, try loving yourself. It feels great.

Liz

I never said that every woman who gains weight tries to hide her body because that’s not true at all. A lot of women do. A lot of women don’t. I’m sure some women feel the same as you. Just like I’m sure a lot of women in the industry try to hide their gain since they are in the public eye. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t pay thousands and thousands for personal trainers, stylists, and dieticians. Why would women try to hide their weight? Because it’s not aesthetically pleasing to many. Celebrities may try to hide their gain because… Read more »

You are talking to a woman who battled anorexia for 12 years, so I think it’s safe to say that I know enough about eating disorders. You say that you hide your body when you gain weight – do you seriously consider that healthy?

Worst of all, you talk about how much pressure the limelight puts on women but you don’t realize that you’re contributing to the awful societal pressure with your comments saying that Taylor looks flabby and implying that she doesn’t look as good just because she gained a few pounds.

Liz

If you’ve battled anorexia for that long, please darling GET OFF THIS SITE RIGHT NOW!!!! I’m assuming you have body image problems since you seem to only point out eating disorders being only about weight and being skinny. Please get off this site and don’t ever visit these sites ever again! This isn’t about me. However, I don’t see anything wrong with hiding weight gain at all. I would say it’s only unhealthy when you are severely struggling with food and body image. Otherwise, it’s part of being a normal human being. I don’t think the limelight is bad one… Read more »

I know it’s too much to ask for, but use your brain, please. First of all, you have no idea whether I recovered 1 year ago or 10 years ago, so don’t just assume that I still have body image issues. Second of all, if a person who has had an eating disorder for so long and has been in treatment for 6, believe me , they KNOW that it isn’t about weight. But thanks for pointing that out, Sherlock. What would I do without you… I’ve never said you can’t comment, I’m just saying your contributing to societal pressure.… Read more »

Well, since you seemed to be someone with no knowledge of eating disorders, I thought I would educate you. In your previous comments, you only talk about weight and thiness. Due to those comments, I believed you were ignorant about the fact that eating disorders are more than “I want to be skinny” and low self-esteem. Even if you did recover 10 years ago, this site is NOT for you. I would absolutely not let anyone who struggles or struggled with an eating disorder come on here or any of these sites. I can tell it’s affecting you. You are… Read more »

You can love yourself and not like weight gain? I don’t agree with pro-ana, but these self righteous ‘WHY DON’T YOU LOOOOOVE YOURSELF’ aholes really get on my nerves. You don’t know Liz-and your experience is not necessarily the same as the next person’s. So while it’s great that you are enjoying your weight gain, it doesn’t mean someone who has recently put on weight is enjoying theirs-but it doesn’t mean they ‘hate’ themselves either.

I think you’re just projecting personal experiences onto her. Not everybody thinks and behaves the way you would in any given situation. She looks fine and commenting “I hope she […] starts exercising again” on photos of her on a hike is frankly quite ridiculous.

Liz

If I’m projecting my personal experiences on her, then so are you. Maybe, we are. I’ve just found that almost every woman tries to hide her body when gaining weight. I think this is especially true of celebrities. Since they are in the public eye, their stylist is getting paid to make them look as best as possible. That means dressing up their imperfections. I’ve just been a huge T-Swift fan for a long time and I could tell she’s a perfectionist. She does look fine just bigger. I don’t see the ridiculousness? That’s exactly why I commenting because I’m… Read more »

ad hominem attack… invalid. I agree with most of what Liz said (I’m not a T-swift fan). any time people are commenting on the physical appearance of others there’s inevitably going to be some projection going on so deal with it–it’s the flavor of this website/the internet as a whole. She’s not as toned as she used to be, her arms are flabby for her (not the general US population that survives on fast food and walmart “delicacies”), and she’s just not as thin anymore. And that’s ok. I don’t know if she’s unhappy with it because I don’t care… Read more »

Thank you! I agree, maybe I am projecting my beliefs and experiences onto her. I could be totally wrong, of course. Or I could be spot on. I guess, no one will ever know except for Taylor. Like I said before, I’m actually a huge fan of hers. I love her music and everything which is the only reason why this even caught my attention. I really do hope she’s not gaining weight over stress, stress overeating, having to take a new medication, etc. Ever since I followed her, she’s always been a perfectionist. From her albums to her body.… Read more »

I’m going what? “Full armchair psychologist?” This is quite funny. I’ve never heard that before. I literally giggled when I read that. Yes. You are projecting. As well as I am. Oh, actually I adore reading. It’s my second favorite hobby. Next to writing, of course.

I wouldn’t call her arms flabby and she has enough muscle time to be called toned. However I do agree she has more fat on her body than she feels comfortable with and get weight does go to her arms. They’re a mixture of fat and muscle and normal sized right now as oppose to slim. I suspect she’s an apple shape with slimmer legs which is why she’s covering her mid section. She’s clearly ashamed of her weight even if a lot of ppl would be happy to have her body. Personally I would be unhappy if I got… Read more »

Taylor looks good here— she’s obviously gained since she was at her thinnest, but she appears slimmer than she did a few months ago. She has toned, long legs and I also like that she’s getting out of the gym to hike. Exercising outside of the gym always makes me feel like working out is a fun activity and not a chore.
