Adele, Then and Now

Is Adele Trying to Lose More Weight?

Untitled-31-1 - Is Adele Trying to Lose More Weight?

The full story from Daily Mail:

She once declared she would never lose weight because of pressure from the music industry. But as it was reported that she has just signed a record-breaking £90 million deal, Adele was doing a very good impersonation of someone on a diet. Accepting one of five accolades at the Billboard Music Awards, the singer looked stunningly svelte – a contrast to the curvier look she sported when she first found fame.

The Mail can today reveal the secret behind this weight loss: The Sirtfood Diet and a fitness plan from trainer Pete Geracimo – whose clients include David Hasselhoff and Kim Cattrall. The diet, which Mr Geracimo recommends, encourages slimmers to eat plant foods, such as kale and buckwheat, known as sirtuin activators, which suppress appetite and activate the body’s ‘skinny gene’. This is the same process caused by fasting or exercise and the sirtuins – also known as ‘housekeeping genes’ – help control the way our bodies handle fat and sugar, regulating appetite as a result.

The eating plan complements a gruelling gym regime and sees Adele consume the likes of green tea, cocoa powder and turmeric, that are high in sirtuin activators. But, anyone worried the singer, 28, is being pressured into starving herself in the name of beauty can rest easy: The diet still allows her to indulge in her favourite red wine and cheese.

A source said: ‘The Sirtfood Diet is all about losing weight and feeling fantastic through eating great-tasting food. It’s based on extensive research into the power of key plant foods, which when added to our diet turn on fat burning and improve wellbeing.’

Idk if she has changed something else than just lost weight, but on her newest music video she looks kind of bad facially. Drastic weight loss can do that to you, but she’s young? Obviously great that she’s trying to be healthier etc.

Honestly, I think it’s the lip injections. People always take those too far for some reason.

I get it losing weight too fast or using pills and supplements can be bad. But it seems like trying to lose weight and be healthy is a bad thing. In a lot of ways I blame this whole body positivity movement. Apparently, if you want to lose weight you are not being body positive. If she wants to lose weight good on her. I do find it funny that a lot of larger celebs who claim they are happy and don’t want to lose weight eventually do so and I don’t blame “Hollywood Pressure.” It’s simple, eventually if you… Read more »

Why does it seem like the writer of this is trying to make it seem like a bad thing? She’s getting healthy, and she actually sort of looks her age and not a 38 year old woman.

I agree – this reads like a snobby tabloid article.

That’s the issue. If you’re overweight, or obese, you are an awful human who should be ashamed. If the same person then decides to lose weight, or get healthy, they are also an awful human. You just can’t win either way and that’s sad.

Her make up is amazing. Good for her for losing weight.

Obviously a lot of people do like Adele (I can’t say that I do – she’s not that talented and she’s not a good singer; she’s just loud, kinda like Rihanna) and buy her music regardless of her weight. From what I’ve read about her, she’s been losing weight since she gave birth to her son. Maybe she wants to be healthier for him or even just for herself.

For one thing, I think they misquoted her. At some point she said something to the effect of I’m not a sex symbol and I will never cave to a certain standard.

Yeah she lost weight but other than that her general aestetic/style hasn’t changed. So I don’t see what’s contradictory about that? But even if she did say that, she hasn’t dramatically lost weight so for the implication to be that she lied and is now just trying to blend in, is sorta ridiculous. People change their mind!

What’s wrong with her losing weight? Maybe she just wants to be healthier, I doubt it’s about “industry pressure.” If you’re fat, people will complain, if you try not to be fat anymore, people complain. Lol, I would hate to be famous.

I think it’s because people think she’s contradicting. She claimed how she doesn’t want to be “skinny-Minnie” etc. Or how she would rather be fat and make good music, than look like Nicole Richie and make bad music (this quote was very immature IMO). But yeah, like someone mentioned, people can change their thoughts and opinion. I still think Nicole Richie comment was very mean and unnecessary

I see your point but she’s not a “Skinny-Minnie” and she’s certainly not Nicole Richie sized. She never said she was against moderate weight loss. There hasn’t been a change in image or style either — still the same.

Adele has definitely changed her mind before. She once said she would rather smoke than be a mother. Now she’s quit smoking and loves being a mom lol.

People are always changing! Esp. in their 20’s, you have to take things with a grain of salt.
Its not like she’s a stick, she looks about 5’9 170- which is just on the edge of being a healthy bmi.

Ugh… Can’t they just leave her alone? Whether she loses weight or not, who cares? It has nothing to do with her music (which is amazing btw)! If she decides to lose weight then that’s her personal decision.

Well, good for her. It’s her body, and this plan sounds healthy and reasonable.
